FITT BTCC Championship - !! Driver Spot Available !!

I am ready to race, the car handles as i wish and is giving me constant lap times gtmetacrisis did a good job for me.
I am willing to race alone if need be. Stewy
Excellent, that at least keeps you going for now, Stew đź‘Ť We'll make sure you're catered for in the coming rounds...

Excuse the double post. Below is a preliminary calendar, can you please have a look and let me know if there are obvious issues (such as seasonal/regional holidays). I've allowed two weeks in between Rounds, but it may be that we can reduce that to one week. People are nipping my heals to get started already!!

It will be up to the four teams/drivers in each group to agree specific times to meet, ideally over a weekend, but accommodate people where you can đź‘Ť

Pre-Season Race
25th/26th October

Round 1
1st/2nd November

Round 2
15th/16th November

Round 3
29th/30th November

Round 4
13th/14th December

As you can see, this take us right into December. If there's a feeling that shortening the overall length of things is appropriate and doable by everyone, then I'm happy to make the change...

have tracks been decided yet for each date?
Tracks will be as below, for the point scoring Rounds. Short courses will be 15 laps, long courses will be 15. Silverstone will feature foul weather as well, at least 50% water on track, fixed for the race period.
  • Brands Hatch Indy (Short Course)
  • Indianapolis Road Course (Long Course)
  • Silverstone National Circuit (Short Course)
  • Brands Hatch GP (Long Course)
I want to use Laguna Seca for the pre-season race, but am concerned that the Ford is going to be found wanting. It really struggles with hill climbing. This may not be an issue for the actual races, as there aren't the same levels of elevation change at any of the above tracks...

{Cy}

Will the Silverstone have 100% weather ( cold temp ) ? It is possible to have 50% water on track ( constant ), while having 0% weather ( warmer temp - sunshine ) The weather alone affects the grip of the tires :)

Dates look good and I should be able to swing a couple hours on the weekend to race. The only problem I might have will be the December dates of the 13th and 14th. Don't quote me on that just yet, but that is right at the beginning of snowboarding season for me.

Mods putting the site on lock down I guess... find their last posts

The big question is are they permanent bans or just temporary bans.

Cy, you should know by now. I do not fear, but have much respect for The Hill :sly:

Bring on you worries, the Ferd ain't scared :dopey:

maybe I should have talked with my driver before posting :scared:

Sorry, should have said, 50% weather and 50% water on track, so it'll be cool and slippy. Also bear in mind that during each Round, the three races will be held at different times during the 'day' (11am, 2pm & 5pm). This will have a marginal effect on track temperature đź‘Ť

I see what you did there  I guess it's taking us all a little longer to climb the Hill these days, eh, old man? As I'm building the Beemer, I'm trusting my man is going to tail-gate yours before throwing his trash out the window and cutting in front of everyone at the lights :mischievous:

Old man... :lol::lol::lol: Nice!!
That's 1 good thing about the Ford, it has a wide back end and being a little underdog I will make it even wider. Better hope your driver is consistent...That's right @danbojte I'm looking over at you!:P
I just realized that here we are talking trash to each other, but yet we are in different groups:confused:

are there times for these races? Saturdays are hardest days for me, but a long as I know the time I can work around it đź‘Ť

I have the day of college tomorrow (yay!) so i'm making getting the wheel sorted my top priority, and will be on during the day

Cy for silverstone will we be able to use rain/inters or have we to stay on sports soft.
Good question about the rain tires, but I would suggest testing lower grades of tires as well since I believe we are allowed to put on "lesser" tires. There was a FITT tuning challenge in the wet and a couple of tuners found faster lap times by going down a couple of levels in tires. From Sport:Medium to Comfort:Soft if I remember correctly. But with patches/updates since then, I'm not sure if that is still true. Right, that's it for me helping out the competition!:dunce:

I am going to vote against rain tires. Inters and Rain tires really only have any advantage at 80% saturation. With saying that, I feel if the wet track gets to that percentage it will add in that X factor where skill really comes into play.

What about having variable weather instead of just static wet and cold ? i'm not a driver so i don't have a horse in the race but it might be more interesting and have a greater risk/reward factor for tire choice. just thinking out loud

We shouldn't allow the barriers that keep us apart from hurling abuse at each other :sly:

Exact race times will dependent, primarily, on the four drivers in each Groups availability. I'll post again in a sec, once I've addressed tyres and weather, below đź‘Ť

I arbitrarily chose 50%/50% and decided to fix it just for consistency. I didn't want to freak people out too much. As @miata13B says, Sport Soft tyres are perfectly adequate up to 80% track saturation, so Inters shouldn't be necessary. All I really wanted to do was make tuners and drivers adapt their approach. I had a nice run the other night, with @Lionheart2113 I think, and 50%/50% was enough that you got the benefit of spray and having to adjust your braking and accelerating zones, but it wasn't so crazy that you ended up in the hedgerow every time.

Silverstone is a way off, so by all means, test there yourselves with varying conditions and report back your findings. Don't forget, we have some folks here who are still pretty new to things, so don't go all the way up to Monsoon conditions :mischievous:

Ok, so we should really give the cars and their drivers a good shake down, to see if we're ready to contest the championship. Can I please ask the teams in each Group to organise a suitable time to meet. Can I also ask one person from each Group to volunteer to act as the host? I'll make myself available to host Group 1, so we just need someone from Group 2 and 3. Hosts should read through posts #1 & #2 in this thread, so they are fully aware of how to setup a lobby. Please also record the replay from each race. Whilst there are no points on offer for this pre-season meet, it's a good opportunity to ensure that we're all comfortable with hosting, scoring and generally taking part.

Priority should be given to drivers, in regard to organising the specific day and time. I would like for all three pre-season meets to have been carried out by Monday 27th. There is no requirement for tuners to submit their tunes for this round, just make sure that your driver is happy with the car đź‘Ť

I can host for Group 3 on Saturday 1-5pm UK time, not sure if the Eastern states are 4 or 5 hours behind with daylight savings time...
Here is a link to a time converter that I like. I am in CST and on Saturday the 25th, 1-5pm for you should be (best guess) 12-4pm GMT and for me here it would be 7-11am CDST. Note that from Sunday the 26th UK returns to GMT from BST, but Sunday the 2nd the US returns to winter time. I hope this helps everyone.

I think I am the farthest away and that time is ok for me. :)

All group 2 drivers and tuners, you let me know when you want to race. I have plenty of time and will be available to race from 1pm - 5pm uk time. Eastern usa 5 kours behind =8am - 12 lunchtime. psn stewyripper for friend request.
Stewy

Group 1 has now been decided. Group 3 only requires one more driver to agree. Hopefully the tuners within that group will also be able to make it, to support their drivers đź‘Ť

Group 2, any consensus yet on when you guys will be able to meet? Post #3 has now been updated with the Race Schedule, Round Specifics and Results...
