FITT BTCC Championship - !! Driver Spot Available !!

Just so no one else takes it, MCH and I are going to use his favorite colour (whatever it's called, that bright green) and my favorite number, #27.

IRL a Rallycross competator took my #27 so I'm claiming it early here.

Oh, and moon hubcaps. 👍 Can't forget those. :)

No worries here, I'm going off of the replica's color/number, so orange #6 for us.

OK folks, give me a little time to catch up on the admin this morning. There will be a slight personnel change and I'll try to clarify some of your questions. I'd like to get the pre-season race under way as soon as possible, just so we're all satisfied that the cars are balanced. Although it seems that some of you are already discovering the various merits of the cars.

I'll be back shortly, gonna put the kettle on first, what are you guys drinking?

Glad everything is ok mate.👍 The VW and the Ford did seem pretty equal. My VW not really tuned as I haven`t made contact with @MidNightGT yet. He`s not been on since Tuesday. @CyKosis1973 how long do we give him to get in touch?
As has been noted elsewhere, looks like MidNightGT has been banned. I've struck him off the list for now. We're going to have to make some other replacements too. Gojira has retracted his entry too, so Group 1 is looking a bit dismal at the moment. @Lewis_Hamilton_ is still on board, I'd love to see him in the driving seat. Given the other drivers in that group, it's shaping up to be quite tasty.
@CyKosis1973 I have a question, are we restricted to only using sports soft tires or can we use any grade that is harder, lets say comfort soft?
I will test Sports tyres today. As the real BTCC runs varying grades of tyres, I will consider it, although I would restrict choice to Sports. Give me the morning to verify 👍
When does this series start? I am pretty screwed for the next seven days.
I'd like to carry out the pre-season race as soon as we possibly can. Obviously Group 1 is in need of some attention, but I'm happy for Groups 2 & 3 to start organising themselves. Will you be able to provide Ron with a preliminary build, given your screwedness within the next week? Bear in mind that there will be no points at stake, this is a shakedown on numerous fronts. We all need to confirm that the cars are adequate, that we're comfortable running a race meet and that as drivers and tuner we're on the same page.
looks like we were right then mate, ford is going to be tough
Randy is going to have to work hard, the Ford is the more challenged car here, but it shouldn't be discounted. It's always there, looming in the mirrors :mischievous:
Hello friends ,
@CyKosis1973 my car is ready and my team mate ready also , when it will start the races ?
See above, my friend. I'd like to carry out a pre-season meet within the next 7 days, looking to hold the first proper meet two weeks after that. This is dependant on a few things working out first 👍
I just tapped on MidNightGT's pic and it says banned:confused:
@NEWDRIVER2 & @Gojira need a driver... @brian wolf needs a tuner...
@DaBomm4 you took orange?:banghead:
See above, Group 1 is a bomb-site  I've yet to hear from @Nail-27, provided he's still in, we only need to find one tuner for Group 1. Lewis is happy to fit in where he can 👍 Finally, welcome @morfastmadboy

So, I've just run 10 laps on SH and 10 laps on SS tyres:

SH - avg 2:29 total 25.07min fastest 2:28
SS - avg 2:24 total 24.11min fastest 2:23

Tyre wear was predictable for both sets, the soft tyres wearing more than the hard. As you can see though, the average times and the race length are sufficient that I'm not sure you'd want to risk a 1 minute deficit. I was driving conservatively and without pressure, so bear that in mind. I have to go out now, but will try SM tyres, if the deficit is 30secs over 10 laps, then maybe we can throw a little extra spice into the proceedings. Thoughts?

What track were you on?

as I left other room family started kicking up so i'm gonna have to go sort it out. will be on tomorrow for some laps 👍

Anybody using the ford, it's not a bad little car. But it has some problems, lacks a bit of torque but will need to see how it does against others
It is very susceptible to wheel spin on exit of corners. Very planted car though. A good transmission tune will be needed

I think the reason why he brought this up is to run a harder tire on the rear of the car in order to offset rear grip to counter understeer, at least that would be something I would test out.

Thanks for the quick testing, and yeah, something like what miata13b said would help too.

@randyrockstiff if it's ok with you mate, i'll be running #58 (for my hero super sic :) ) colour, well up to you.

Don't worry, Ford will bring home a trophy :gtpflag:
Yeah bro that's all good with me, ur the driver bro so you decide on colour and number.
And as for the trophy, well I sure hope so.

Will you be online tonight to try get a few laps

I planned too but things still iffy here with family, sat with a lot of tension so its best I don't. Still need dinner, essay to do so no way I can.
Will definitely be about tomorrow.

Colour up to you, I may be driver but we're the team 👍

Got it. Spirited Green Metallic and #27. I may get some time to play a little tonight so I will build you a car to start with then send me some feedback.

Well after hours of tuning and testing ( about 20 min. really ) I feel I have a good base for my driver, good luck and treat her nice, she's fragile :dopey:
