FITT BTCC Championship - !! Driver Spot Available !!

@DaBomm4 : Looks like we got ourselves a rocketship rocco or time bomb rocco , just spent 30 minutes made a base tune with front heaviest distribution, equal ride height, real life suspension + alignment + gearing and high lock LSD. Easily did low 1:34s at Brands Hatch GP, mid 1:01s at Silverstone National, and 50s at Brands Hatch Indy. The replica based build can be easily tweaked for extreme rotation - the usual stuff ;) About 2 tenths to half a second slower than BMW and Honda.

Hey everyone, I have to apologize for not being online. I met an English chap at my bar tonight that needs a friend here because he is away from his family in England. He is away from his family because he is working for a finance company in the airline business and I lost track of time because of this new friendship, just trying to make a good welcoming.

I'll be online shortly

There's a joke in there somewhere :sly: Next time you walk into a bar and there's an Englishman in there, just turn around and walk right out, you're only going to end up a drunken mess..!! :mischievous:

Is chassis reinforcement allowed for BMW?
Chassis Reinforcement is mandatory for all cars 👍

I'm going through the first few posts now, to tidy them up and try to clarify everything 👍

Sounds good to me. I'll be online later today, I didnt want to run on any of the regular season race tracks, are there any suggestions for practice tracks?

Big Willow is a good track to test medium speed balance and low speed exit stability. Speaking of Big Willow, I have a car made a while ago, a BMW ... save it for the coming month.

Notes :

A simple base tune for BTCC GTP Championship - a quickie build in 30+minutes. I have several race coilover kit replica setup available :) The base setup needs online shake down with race regs ( tire wear normal etc ) and let me know if it needs more rotation or any improvement. There are quite a few tuning aspect ( ballast position, ride height, springs, damper, ARB, camber, toe ) that can be tweaked to suit, as they were intentionally built with limitation to maximize potential from simple changes. The base tune when driven offline on 1st lap cold tires is capable of mid 1:01s at Silverstone National, 1:34s at Brands Hatch GP, 50s at Brands Hatch Indy, and 1:42s at Indianapolis Road.

The optional low lock LSD is the lowest setting I recommended, any lower there will be only loss and no gain. Alignment can be tailored to driving style, rear toe out can range up to 3/8" or -0.70+, more suitable for short/sprint road race, not for this event  Ride height can use higher front for more rotation on a sensible amount, will need minor tweaks to keep it smooth. Other spring rate combo also available, higher rate at the rear can be used to an extent. An extreme spring rate setup with closer wheel rate to each other also can be used ( if you are a daredevil )

The base tune above managed to spin out ( over rotate ) while braking and sharp feint move ( ABS 0 ) on entry at Maggots, Silverstone National.

Nice looking car, @Ridox2JZGTE, I like the VW. My test car is painted silver chrome, with a carbon bonnet. Doesn't look as nice as the real one though :sly:

@CyKosis1973 One question - If I'm having power units in HP , How much Hp do BMW have ?

Good point. I've just converted BHP to HP online and it comes out as below. Hopefully it's that straight forward, unless I've made some sort of schoolboy error (always possible). I've just updated Post #1, I should perhaps add this too?

300BHP - 304HP
315BHP - 319HP

Please take the time to review #1, as there has been a slight change to the BMW regulations. Hopefully everything else has also been clarified. I've included instructions on how to setup lobbies for practising and for race meets. Please note that at each Round we will be racing at three different times. This will slightly effect the way the cars drive, probably not by much, but the game does factor track temperature.

I'll try to add some more text to post #2, regarding the submission of cars. I suspect that the best thing to do is to have each team post their car the day before the race. I appreciate that our Ridox has already posted some stuff above, but in terms of the event, drivers will be expected to use the tune posted by their mechanic, prior to each round 👍

Should I delete the post ?, as the driver @DaBomm4 haven't driven the car online, thus the tune is 100% going to change. So, will we have a team posting a car for every race ?

You don't need to delete it. Effectively, there will be four tunes produced and posted by each tuner, one for each round. These posted tunes will be used by their team mates to compete in their group 👍

Cool 👍 Is there any rules regarding decals ( driver number ), add on meter, and brake caliper color ? :D I can't access these as I'm on 1.09, but I guess my driver would want to personalize his ride.

I fully expect everyone to have 69 plastered on their car and for them to be sporting Rosso Corsa calipers :sly: I suspect the only regulation, other than mandating the use of racing numbers, is that all entries are unique. I understand that there may well have been an issue with gauges and online racing, not sure if it that was the case or if it's been patched nor whether I need to ban them??

From this that I heard that was patched ( 1.13 )

Just a small OCD thing, does the Scirocco need to have chassis reinforcement stated twice in it's restrictions? Otherwise thing are looking good.

Hey everyone, I'll be online for a little while racing at Brands Hatch. Feel free to join for practice and maybe a race or 2. I'll keep it open to all unless I get too many strays!

@CyKosis1973 Why did BMW's weight distribution is 52/48, different than stock 50/50? I think that 100 kgs more than FF cars is enough to balance the performance.
It helps bring the BMW a little closer to the FWD cars. The VW requires ballast over the front wheels to conform, you can blame it on the Ford. If it was possible to get the Ford to 52/48, then I'd leave the BMW at 50/50. Both the Honda and the VW are effectively penalised due to this too, it's just less obvious.

I've just run a handful of laps with @Lionheart2113, and I can confirm that perceived differences in the cars are greatly minimised once you're on the track. I ran the BMW and he the Ford, there wasn't much in it, not when you factor pressure. Please bear in mind that each round will require 30-45 clean laps from the drivers in order to achieve success, so tuners are going to need to concentrate on making their cars as reliable as possible.

Also, be prepared for wet weather at Silverstone. We ran a few laps there with 50% weather and surface water, it was more enjoyable than I thought. It should really demonstrate the fragilities of RWD...

Its my God awful connection brother, if you could possibly create a room for me too join then that would be great,
I had connection issues as well @CyKosis1973 will tell you.:banghead: Just got done running some laps with @brian wolf in the VW and me in the Ford, and once again they seemed pretty equal, with some revisions to mine to keep up and when his wheel didn't recalibrate! Like I said Brian, I've got a controller for you to borrow!:mischievous: I think it's coming together quite well Cy.
And sorry for just leaving like that @brian wolf , the daughter came off her horse and the phone call from the Mrs. sounded like her head had fallen off. Everything is ok, just a mom's natural instinct to overreact...bless em!
