Yes, but isn't that typical of Fords? Since their so much less reliable than other cars/trucks it would only make sense that a mechanic would work on them more. ;)
Yes but I now recommend them to my customers which I would NEVER do 10-15 years ago, much beter and better looking today. Reliability is better and better ever year, unless you own a diesel truck.....

We don't really have Chevrolet over here so nicknames for it are not well known

Yeah it's a shame. Really only seen Camaros and Vettes. There's also some 4 door that looks like a Malibu, but can't remember the name of it. But that's ok @DolHaus we get to see far more Ferrari, Aston Martin, Maserati, BMW, Jag, Merc, Porsche, Lamborghini ... I was shocked seeing all the hyper cars when I first came over to England. Only other place in the world that I've seen that many "prestige" cars besides here was United Arab Emirates.

Our roads aren't wide enough for American cars, the road behind my house was jammed for half an hour yesterday because someone tried to drive a Dodge Ram down it and got wedged  I think its also a quality issue, while the modern muscle cars are starting to get their act together they're still kind of badly made compared to European standards, not to mention the fuel consumption, 15mpg is pretty crippling when you are paying £1.30 a liter.

I like them for what they are and what they try to represent but I'd never own one myself

Yeah any car wider than my arms held out will struggle getting down 60% of the back roads in England...especially out West. Ever wonder why the bushes on the single lane roads are so well trimmed? Box trucks!

I've got a fairly wide car and I have to fold the mirrors in when going down some roads, you know you've taken a wrong turn when there is 2ft tall grass down the center of the lane and you can grab a handful of blackberries without even putting your hand out the window

I think DolHaus answered for that !

We did have Chevy's on sale for a while , but they were truly awful re-badged crap from somewhere like Kia.

But I love 50's and 60's American cars :)

I believe it is Daewoo:yuck::yuck:, Chevy Aveo a poor excuse of a car that hurt the Chevy brand. But the EPA and DEP in this country do not allow us to have some of the cool cars you can have due to emission standards. All manufacturers are required to meet an "average fuel economy" forcing Ford and Chevy to have strange bed fellows to keep the numbers up. Makes up for the v8 Mustangs, Camaros and Vettes. And the stupidly huge SUV's.

One of the cars Chevrolet re-badged did really well in the WTCC (World Touring Car Chsmpionship), I have a feeling it was the top gear Laceti but I could be wrong, that was a Daewoo originally. It did great things for their European sales so maybe they will put a bit more effort into things this side of the pond

Yeah , they are probably nice , dependable , reliable and cheap ... but my mental image of Chevrolet is probably even more glowing than yours. I only know of the big muscle cars ... y'know Corvettes , Camaro's , etc. I don't know what they produced in the 70's and 80's !

So when I see a Daewoo with a Chevrolet badge , something just doesn't fit ! Like an old , withered , wrinkly hag wearing a mini skirt and high heels ! LOL :)

Thanks for that image, gonna have nightmares now :scared: . The 70's and 80's were rough but did have a few decent cars, my first car was a 75 Monte Carlo. Big car with a long hood line and V8 power :D but we also had the cavalier and citation. The Camaro from 78 began my love for the Chevy, Ford Mustang was not that impressive until the 86 GT. That and the 90 GT should have been in the game and I have no idea how PD missed it. The 86 Monte Carlo SS should be in as well. Google them and have a look.

Bowtie muscle
English translation:
Griffin power

As far as I know, most Vauxhalls have a German twin under the Opel badge.

Here in Australia, we're about to euthanize our homegrown Commodore (Chevrolet SS in the USA, Vauxhall VXR8 in the UK).
Rumour abound at what might replace it. Anything from the Cadillac CTS to a rebadged Chinese Buick!
I'm really hoping they tick the Cadillac box.

Yeah , I know and like the cars you mention but there must be hundreds of cars from that period that I'm completely unaware of. Hence my incomplete and glowing image of Chevy's , Ford's , Dodge's , etc.

I'm really missing the "old school" shootouts. (PP/tire/track pick a car). Any in the future?

*don't get me wrong, what we're doing now is fun...just asking :dopey:

Without car sharing its kind of a pain for testers to have to buy a whole bunch of different cars, money doesn't flow as freely as it used to.

On another note, I've been thinking about putting together a "Call Out" style monthly league if anyone is interested, I need to work out the finer details but I think the general idea is solid enough.

Im def going to get into this. I'm completely new to tuning a car. From what I have read this would be my best bet in learning the ropes and seeing how each car handles and drives. Are there times to beat like in the time trials in the seasonal races? If so sign me up!! I am eager to learn and ready to improve my skills from a way below average tuner to a great one!

Not really any times to beat, but there is always recognition of who had the fastest lap and in who's tune. And we always see who can pass any of the top tuners...even if it only happens once in a blue moon. It's bragging rights! It would be great if we could gift cars, I'd be first in line to offer up a nice car for whoever got the fastest lap time in any FITT event.
