5kg lighter isn't worth 15bhp, particularly on a track with a massive straight. I really suggest you get back on the track and hammer out some laps, you're about 2 seconds off the pace at the moment and that is more than enough to hide the small, important gains.

Like I said isn't finalized, I am going to run it more with the cat and power limiter but for initial tuning the 15bhp seemed less valuable than a few kg. Power tends to assist more in the straights than in the bends given it makes wheel spin much more likely. the only thing on the car that will likely be left alone from here is the trans. the car runs out of legs right about where the braking point is on the main stretch @156mph.

I should also add in I'm a terrible driver. Most times when someone else gets in my cars they shave 3-4 seconds off of my times if they're good. My 1:54. was far from perfect

You can run with less PP if you want to. Its okay with me. We are just kindly reminding you that you do have more power available should you want it. :)

I may have to see what happens to my handling if I add a few Kgs of ballast and have no power limiter. It reaches 158mph before I hit the brakes so there isn't much difference tbh.

I understand lol. I'm just trying to skin my cat a different way as it were. Though using ballast would allow me to adjust the weight balance a little making finalizing spring rates easier.

The handling is still 🤬 like @DolHaus described (perfectly) but with the 885kg/334hp I hit 162mph a few times but 160+ every time.
Edit: Could be in a transmission trick too!:mischievous:

I don't see ~4-5mph on the straight accounting for much more than a second overall across the course. I'm at 156 when I drop anchor and i'm on the limiter. I could get a couple MPH out of it but I'd sacrifice acceleration for it.

I can see that. There is always that trade off...aceleration vs. top speed... that is what makes racing and these challenges fun. Seeing how others set up their cars and running the wipers off of them!

These contests are tight at the best of times and while the PP system might not be great it does have meaning, being under spec is a disadvantage.

I'm at 160 mph before the brakes.

I'm also around 160mph going into the first corner, might only be a few mph faster but it adds up around the track. Its not only top end where that power comes into effect, it affects performance every time you touch the throttle

Go and check the previous contests results, a second might as well be a week. Myself and @Lionheart2113 once split first place by 0.002 seconds so its fair to say every thousandth counts

Lol, yeah. I feel bad for passing this car up so many times though. It's great fun to drive. I did take it out to Tsukuba after a tire change to CH and had some fun, A coffee break if you will. Didn't retune it out side of tires and it slides like it was purpose tuned for it.

Lol, very true. Again I am by no means a top class driver so I'm pretty sure a better driver can make up those precious seconds.

I bet if we checked in data logger you would be 2-4 mph at every braking point and that will make up a second R245. All through if your car is less likely to spend time spinning its tires it could play to the non slide skilled drivers and make up time.

Revising Name pending post after some testing.

Well, I took Shauns Advice and added the Cat and a few kg at 50 to even the weight distribution out to a perfect 50:50 @499pp and now with 158mph on the first braking point and am back at 1:56's but very comfortably there. But, I am duplicating the tune and retuning the trans and possibly a few other things for good measure.

Edit: took a bit of advice from Ota and got a much more predictable car. I honestly think I am hitting my limits as a driver. So I am going to drive something else somewhere else before I go mad lol. Although before I do that I want to put it out there that any tester wishing to try my tune use Tranny V2.0

I think I'm in the same boat. Wild little car! And touchy! Small changes can add up to wild results. Final out come should be very intresting.

I am fairly happy with this tune I have got below, and I will not make any changes to this tune I have got and it suit my driving style, and it will be interesting to see what the testers think of this tune.

Thank you very much. I had added this to the tune list now. This tune looks in perfect order to me.

My tune started off a little like this image but I hope that when you drive it, it doesn't smoke quite as much. :)

As of tomorrow, I will be starting my university placement on the hospital wards. My shift times are going to be irregular for the next 10 weeks so for the duration of this event, if I don't respond very quickly to any questions you have, this will probably be the reason why.

Some of you have been involved in hosting FITT events before so if any general questions are asked, and you know the answer, feel free to jump in and respond on my behalf. If it is a more specific request that only I can answer, leave these for me to respond to.

I had a really good tune going last night. Very low and consistent 1:54s and it could be driven clean and smooth or in drive like you stole it mode. For got to save it to a different slot before I ruined it. Can't wait to see what you guys put up as I pretty much gave up on my car. :)

You have time to get your tune back up to speed again. Don't give up on your car just yet.
