You aren't alone in being unable to resist getting the complete pack so I'll be looking forward to your shootout.

Due to speed_zero encountering technical difficulties (PS3 died) his event has been indefinitely postponed. This means my "Tons of Fun" shootout is next in line. I'll most likely post the thread sometime during the last week of DigitalBaka's Roadster Battle. Still have a few ideas about it I need to finalize before starting it.

Would be great if we could develop a standardized F.I.T.T. Event OP in time for Tons of Fun.:sly:

What does everyone think about me setting up a new thread for discussion and posting of suggested OP layouts?
TBH I don't think we need a new thread for that, I like having everything FITT in the same spot.

I'm actually liking DB's layout quite a bit, if I say so myself. Very simple, cut and dry. Easy to follow, the only thing I'd change is the word "timeline" to 'deadlines". Just because that's the word I look for when looking for...well, deadlines. :)

Main reason I suggested setting up a second thread is because I'm lazy!:D

Took me a lot of time on my cellphone to find and sort through the multiple pages when I made the latest updates to the OP and Rules post.

Also a separate thread would allow a "blank template OP" to be posted in an easy to find spot. Otherwise I'll have to try and squeeze it in somewhere on the first page here.

Looks like Onboy did offer an additional placeholder post for me here so we can get him to post the template and keep it updated as needed.:D

Good points, works for me.👍

Does anyone else besides CSLACR have any input on the issue of setting up a template for event OPs?

If not I'll see if Onboy can convert DigitalBaka's OP into a template for us and place it in post #5 on the first page.

If there are other ideas/suggestions for this then I'll see about starting a thread so we can compare them.

Also if anyone else has ideas for events please let me know so I can add them to the upcoming events list. I know there was discussion about how often we could run events and how many could be run at the same time due to the number we had listed before. However as can be seen by the current upcoming events list we only have 2 listed. With the current slight overlap in events that we are currently running these will only keep us going until around the end of the year.

From the turnout that DigitalBaka has received I think its safe to say we still have a lot of interest in these events, so please step up with your ideas. If you need help planning or running one you have plenty of people here who are willing to help you out.

Finally krenkme has asked for assistance with the FAQ, can we please get one or two volunteers to help out there?

I have input, and it seems that CSL and I are of the same mind. It would be good to keep everything in the one thread for consistency, and the ability to easily search for info, but I take your point on the mobile thing.

And I also agree that DB's OP is easy to read, and if he agrees we should look at incorporating the major elements into some sort of template (with the change of timeline to deadlines, it seems easier to read that way).

Keeping it all together seems like a good idea to me. :)

I certainly have no objections to having my OP layout tweaked for a template. I'll agree with CSL that "deadlines" would be more effective than "timeline" just to make things clearer to participants (in fact, I'm gonna go change mine now... :D)

The part I most like about the layout is the separate info for tuners and drivers is marked clearly. That way anyone doing one or the other can quickly find the section they need for their requirements.

For the sake of keeping things together, here's the basic structure of my OP:

Code:
Header/Banner

Introduction

[SIZE="5"]CAR SPECS[/SIZE]
Car restrictions

[SIZE="5"]TEST COURSE[/SIZE]
Track info

[SIZE="5"]DEADLINES[/SIZE]
Deadline info

[URL="https://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=ipi3najs3eiv53p4rs7tknrdtg%40group.calendar.google.com&ctz=America/Chicago"]Google Calendar Link[/URL].

[SIZE="5"]FOR TUNERS[/SIZE]
Tuner specific info

[SIZE="5"]FOR DRIVERS[/SIZE]
Driver specific info

[SIZE="5"]SCORING[/SIZE]
Scoring info

[SIZE="5"]PRIZES[/SIZE]
Prize info

I can give one or more council people edit access to the Google Calendar. I created it specifically for FITT events while I was playing around with some things. Probably keep it to 2 or 3 people to start just so there will be less confusion adding and editing events. I think you'll need a Google/Gmail account to be able to edit it but I haven't experimented with it much.

By the way, if you haven't played around with the options, it is possible to set the mobile app to start at the first unread post in the thread instead of the beginning, at least on Android devices. Made my life a lot easier once I found that! 💡

Good job fellas on standardizing and streamlining things to this point. I have a couple of suggestions:

1 13) Driver feedback, both positive and negative, is strongly encouraged but in a constructive manner. Not all tunes work well for every driver. Personal attacks will not be tolerated and may result in penalties or disqualification at the discretion of the organizer and also may be subject to sanction by GTPlanet.

Nothing wrong with the text but you need to change the Number "13" because it's no longer number 13...lol.

2. I might suggest some different graphics for the OP. I assume you're trying to have on graphic for tuners and one for test drivers? For the tuners that one is ok, but my preference would be for something to do with a mechanic leaning over a car, parts all over the floor kind of thing, or scratching his head, that sort of stuff. Or something from the game, even from the GTAuto garage bay.

For the car, I'd take out the kind of cartoonish looking graphic and either make an original or borrow someone else's existing picture of a car within the game in a meaner looking pose. Maybe in a full drift with tires smoking, airborne over a curb, a close up of a driver in the car etc....that kind of stuff.

I think that would kind of tie things together. As I look at it now, the pictures don't quite fit with the rest of the OP, if you know what I mean...

It was made by a nine-year-old and a two-year-old (my daughters). When they wake up I'll see if they can improve it 👍

thanks! I may be biased, but thay are the best kids EVER!!! :D

edit = My oldest did these. What do you think?

Krenkme like the new logos, especially the first one.
Would like to make a suggestion though.
Can you and your daughter make the stylized F.I.T.T. in the first one larger and place it above the pictures then superimpose the remaining text across the bottom of the pictures? (Hope that made sense to you.:dopey:)

On a related subject I would like to keep their original one on someplace in the OP as I'm rather fond of it.:D

Last does anyone have an event for me to add to our listing of upcoming events? With current scheduling CSLACR's event should be wrapping up around the end of the year, so we need to have something lined up to kick the new year off in style!👍👍

She said it makes sence and she'll edit it after her Karate practice. The original one I like alot too. The 2 year-old picked the pics and the 9 year old edited it, so by all means keep it in the OP if you'd like. 👍

I may have an idea for a shootout, but not quite yet :dopey: I'll let you know soon.

Good day! :dopey:

A message from my daughter:

Here is what I think you wanted.

Yep that's it!👍👍:D

I've edited the OP to add the new banners.
My recommendation is that the logo at the top of the OP be used as the "official" F.T.T.T. logo/seal while the 3 banners krenkme and his daughters have provided us be used much as I have used them here as a way to separate sections of an events OPs.

The OP looks great! Thank you for using the "banners" my daughters made 👍 it made there day. Lets see if I can do this right.

This is sooo cool. Tank you for using my photos for your web site. Its neet to see the stuff I made on the computer. Thank you.

I think the use to break everything up works well. Very organized.

I might have the next shootout on the list. Classic cars (1975-older) on sport soft at Monaco. 525pp. Still working it out with the time I have allowed....So put me down but mark it in pencil...just in case.

Classic cars sounds great but you may want to make it 475 or 500PP unless your looking for a bunch of lightly tuned musclecars as a lot of the Japanese and European classics max out around there.

Krenkme, your daughters have some talent...lol. Probably should have got them working on the rules and regulations a couple of months ago.

Maybe it's just me because I'm colour blind, but I find the text at the bottom extremely difficult to read. If you're not colour blind it's probably easy to read but for me, no joke, it's almost invisible...lol. Did you try it in black or white? Can you?

That's why I'm still throwing it around. Not sure how to make it competitive. Further testing needed. Was also thinking a "quick" shootout, Two weeks, one to tune and one to test - Kie cars at 420(ish)pp around Autumn Ring Mini....:scared:

Believe it or not the color she used was the most visible (she showed me in black..no, and white....no, the only color with that backround that you could see was the one she used). She is having a sleep over at the moment, but if she can make it better I'll ask. Five girls talking about Taylor Swift....AAAGGGGHHHHH

OP looks sweet! Love those pics from your girls, krenkme. :D They did a great job.

I wanted to mention this since it came up in the roadster shootout, but what would be a good way to keep those "magic laps" from being called into question? Video replays or replay saves would be the ideal but that gets to be very cumbersome and tedious, especially if there are a good number tunes to test. A picture of the time should suffice but there's no way to check the settings from there and even with a replay that is difficult at best. Also, would this be something we should require from everyone up front or a "be able to prove it if needed" kind of thing?

It's not really been an issue so far.
Also for the most part averages from multiple drivers helps even things out.
If there are major concerns regarding something like this might be to toss out the fastest and slowest time for each car. The problem with that is that you stand to eliminate all test results from 2 players as often we've had 1 driver like praiano or CSLACR that posted most if not all the fastest laps for a shootout, and one driver such as mildrum or myself posting most or all of the slowest times.

Personally I always suggest that all test drivers make two separate runs with each car when possible so they not only get the best times possible but will hopefully catch it if there is a significant difference in their lap times, not just between different cars but with the same car.

Last suggestion is if there is a question regarding a lap time drivers should be prepared and willing to re-test that car and then if need be post a screenshot of a comparable lap time. If a driver is unwilling to re-test or unresponsive to questions by the event organizer then the event organizer will have to arbitrate a decision to either accept the validity of the results or else remove all that drivers results from consideration.

I think that your last suggestion is the way to go mate. If this is to be another standard rule, I think it should probably go in as rule 5. I've taken the liberty of slightly tweaking your last paragraph below.

If there is a question regarding a lap time, drivers should be prepared and willing to re-test that car. If the ES requires, the driver post a screenshot or replay of a comparable lap time. If a driver is unwilling to re-test, or does not respond to questions by the ES, then the ES will have the final decision to either accept the validity of the results, or remove all that driver's results from consideration. Once this decision has been made, no further discussion should be entered into.

Thanks man, it's the curse of being colour blind. It's literally almost invisible to me. I was going to suggest white but if you use white you may have to move it slightly so there's no white in the background of any of the letters or they disappear. White with a black border on the letters can resolve that as well.

A few years from now they'll be having a sleepover talking about the new Justin Beeper and you'll look back longingly on Taylor Swift...lol.

It's a real dilemma these "alien" lap times. Most guys are reluctant to say they made a mistake and be embarassed in front of everyone so naturally there'll be a lot of resistance and defensiveness on the part of some test drivers. Tough situation, glad it's not me making the decision...lol.

If it is to be some kind of written rule I'd write it up something along these lines:

Test drivers are expected to be very conscientious [or thorough, deliberate etc. ] in setting up their test facilities to ensure equal testing parameters for all vehicles. The Event Sponsor reserves the right to question any and all laptimes submitted by test drivers. At the discretion of the ES, a test driver may be asked to repeat test drives for the car (s) in question or all cars in the contest, or may choose to exclude any and all times associated with the driver in question. Also at the discretion of the ES, the test driver may be asked to produce photo or video proof of unusual lap times.

I can help Clueless host a shootout!

Also, I need to post up my score sheets for FITT use.. Hopefully soon work will mellow out.

I hope work does mellow out soon, or you might try and tune an Insight :dopey:

Desperado you can put Clueless Tunes down for a Shootout....(I still might need some help and/or sponsorship). As of right now it will be a 500pp classic car (1975-older) shootout at Monaco on sport soft. Hoping to create a David Vs. Golith feel.....more testing needs to be done. But for now put Clueless down :scared:

Okay sounds good.👍👍

So we get to ring in the new year with.some old cars.:lol:

I'll add it in a bit.

I would like to become a test driver, what I need to do?
Just join any of the events as a test driver. You've already tested for one event and are very welcome to participate in upcoming ones as well.
We are currently testing for the Fall Roadster Battle and I'm not sure if you can sign up for that still, but I'll be starting a new event in a couple more days that will be needing test drivers.👍👍

If you wish for to be added to the OP here as a member of the F.I.T.T. committee let me know and I'll add you.

Sooooo..... After some testing at Monaco with various classic cars (2002 BMW 👍 ). Times will be close, but lap times are about 2 minuets :scared: . Would the clueless shootout be better to do a Kie car 420pp "quick" shootout at Autumn Ring Mini instead, considering it will fall at the holiday season? :scared: help!!!! Please! :dopey:

This should fall at the beginning of the new year so holidays should be over by then.
I like the classics, but if your worried about time try them on the Madrid tracks. The full Madrid track has some nice technical turns and a couple high speed sections. The Madrid mini track loses some of the technical stuff but is a quick track.
