We probably should have left it up to the kids to begin with. This is probably how it would have went.

Daddy, what are you doing?

Competing in a Tuning Shootout.

But that car is ugly Daddy, I don't like it.

Oh don't worry little Susie, looks don't count, only how fast you are.

I don't like that Daddy, why can't you enter a different kind of contest where the prettiest car also wins?.....

💡

Amazingly, that is how some of the cars in my garage got painted....

Just updated the rules. Added the following:

5) Test drivers are expected to be very conscientious in setting up their test facilities to ensure equal testing parameters for all vehicles. The Event Sponsor reserves the right to question any and all laptimes submitted by test drivers. At the discretion of the ES, a test driver may be asked to repeat test drives for the car (s) in question or all cars in the contest, or may choose to exclude any and all times associated with the driver in question. Also at the discretion of the ES, the test driver may be asked to produce photo or video proof of unusual lap times.

Renumbered the previous rule #5 as #6.

In response to why I have left the last rule as number 13 its for a couple of reasons.
1st Like the way it is done in a different color, the odd numbering for it helps it stand out more.

2nd While I don't foresee us adding many more rules if any, its numbering means that it is unlikely to need to be renumbered due to new rules additions.

I feel both these points are important as they will allow us to, when/if the need arises make reference to rule 13 and everyone will immediately know what we are referencing.

As I've mentioned before I feel that this last rule should be the only inviolateable rule as it goes to the heart of what makes these competitions not only possible, but enjoyable for everyone. I'm sure you've all seen other competitions and threads break down because people couldn't remain civilized with each other and we don't want to ever have that happen in a F.I.T.T. event.

Finally I have no problem with color coding different categories of events. Let me know what to call the various types and a brief one or two sentence description of each type, and I will update the events listings with those descriptions and appropriate color coding. For those who are color blind:D, maybe a suitable symbol might be added before or after each event as well to help those who are color blind/have trouble distinguishing colors because of system limitations.👍👍

Haha...it sucks being colour blind...lol. For me there are three basic types of colour blindness and I think these are the most common.

RED/GREEN
BLUE/PURPLE/VIOLET
YELLOW/ORANGE

Various shades of those colours are hard to distinguish from each other. So what you do is you'd have a red but not a green. A blue but not a purple or violet. A yellow or an orange but not both. Black is fine as well but sometimes it's hard to tell a black from a really deep, dark blue...lol. Darks and lights are usually ok as well. So a dark blue and a light blue, dark red and light red are fine as well.

Affects up to 10% of men so you can assume that 1/10 people on this site would likely have trouble with at least some red/green combinations.

This works:

BLUE
RED
ORANGE
BLACK

RED GREEN <<<<Identical:crazy:

For categories we could go with something like: time attack, ride quality and mixed event...possibly adding more as we go or further refining. We could even add single or multi track.

I'll work up some descriptions later this evening.

Along the lines of the popular Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance:

Concours d'Qualite' de Trajet - Competition of ride/drive quality

Concours d'Scrutin - Competition of voting

Concours d'Subjectif - A Subjective Competition

Okay have we got any progress on different categories to divide the events listing up with?

Also I just started a Tuner Wars thread. This is for quick little competitions between a handful of tuners and a couple of drivers. They lack the structure of most of our events here and are meant as a fun diversion. Question is should the Tuner Wars thread come under the F.I.T.T. banner or remain like it is currently?

I vote to leave the tuner wars thread as is currently until we see where it goes. We can always add it later. Just my opinion of course

Same thought here, that thread is a rough and tumble late night bar brawl between two mates whereas F.I.T.T events are more organised.

The "Tons of Fun" event is soon coming to a close (one of the best events in my opinion) so does anyone know if CSLACR is still doing the next one, or should I start putting mine together?

And if CSLACR is running his DLC Touring Cars Vs. RM's@SPA, does anybody know if you can access the telemetric info from an online session..?? I don't have the track or car pack, so I'd have to beg some track time from someone else and it would be nice to see what my gears are doing during a lap.

I appreciate watching a replay will ultimately provide me with the same info, but prefer the ease of the snappy charts...

Ta,

Not unless you start the race, and the DLC cars will be available to us soon. Don't know about Spa though.

And I still don't know how to read the telemetry.

Not so worried about the cars, it's just access to the telemetry. I only really use it to view speed and gear selection. It's very easy to scroll from one side to the other and look for unnecessary gear changes (i.e., those change ups immediately prior to hauling on the anchors)...

But how do you actually read it? I try to but I just get confused.

Talked to CSLACR yesterday and it looks like he will need to push his event back due to other commitments.

So krenkme it looks like your up next.

Question for everyone is do we want to take a break for the holidays or will they be a good time for an event?

Hmm…how about a week or two off so that those with kids and family can have some time to spend with them without worrying that they're missing something.

It also gives me a chance to throw a few of the cars I've tuned out into the wild without the shootout pestering my conscience. :dopey:

I think time to spend with family is important in the grand scheme of things. Also there may be quite a few people who are away from their PS3 for the holidays (I am one of them, visiting family interstate).

I would also like a few weeks off. I think I'll be able to start mine around January 2nd. Does that work for everyone?

Edit: maybe December 27th if that's better

January 2nd sounds good let's aim for that.

Also not confirmed yet with details but it looks like Dragonthing will be sponsoring the event following krenkme's and from what she's shared with me so far it looks like we'll be having back to back great events to get 2012 off to a roaring start!:gtpflag:

Also if anyone is jonesing for some competitive tuning and/or test driving during the holiday break they can check out the Tuner Wars thread. For those who haven't checked it out yet it's a place for down and dirty quick challenges between a small group of tuners. Nothing formal really just whatever the interested parties agree to. Makes a fun place to talk a little good natured smack and have some fun without the time investment of our F.I.T.T. events.:D

Anyone looking to run Spa but doesn't have the DLC can use my lounge if you're on my friend's list. I set up my default track as Spa for Praiano when he mentioned a month or so ago he didn't have it.

Same here.
Although the Spa event isn't fully determined yet, it's probably offline and with LMP's, for ease of borrowing and obtaining cars, etc.

As for having the DLC, I guess the delay will help anyone that potentially is getting it with Christmas money, etc.

It could potentially be online, that would make building tunes easier for those without the DLC, but getting each car in each test drivers hands could be very difficult, we'll see. See what updates, etc bring us next week, krenkme's event, and see where everything lies.

Actually, Spec 2.02 will add all the previous DLCs into the game for free bar the paints and suits…sort of sucks for those who bought it, but hey…SPA HERE I COME!! :D

I'd be happy for you if that's the case Onboy, but from memory of other news items, they will be added to the dealer for those who have the DLC so they can be bought again in game.

Hmm…well, the news page seems to say otherwise…
[…] and the previous batch of DLC will now be available on all the user accounts of a PlayStation 3 console[…]

All. As in everyone. :D WHHHOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Ehhmm, Onboy you misunderstand something.
When you bought the previous DLC, then you could only use it on that account. So if you have a second account, GTP_..... as example, you had to buy it twice.

You will still have to pay for it, but with the difference that it will work on all your accs then.

Honestly it's a good thing, I was about to flip 🤬 🤬 reading that. They start giving it away for free that'll be the last time I buy it. ;)

But - If someone on your friends list simply has it set as their lounge track, you can enter their lounge and do testing there, so it just might be online after all.

I'm thinking of the purest sense of "tuning shootout" there is. Meaning a handful of drivers will take entered cars around and get stock times, and whomever builds the tune that drops the most time off their car wins.

It'll have to be drivers that own or can get all eligible cars.
So if someone wants to test drive, start duping those level 23 tickets now. :P If you haven't already.
