So I see some spots are open, and am interested in joining this. However, I'm not sure if I will have the time every week as school is very busy. How much time would you say you spend on average practicing/racing?

And I have never done a real series yet in GT5, but I have had a lot of online experience in clean lobbies. So I'll definitely be a bit out of my league as far as lap times go, is that a problem?

Thanks.
Hi. I would say I spend more than an hour a day practicing. Of course, I'm probably not normal. Some of these people are just naturally fast (some are naturally inhumanly fast). It's very competition, but if you're used to racing in clean rooms online, I can't see why this series would be a problem for you. One great thing about it is you don't have to spend time tuning your car, as these are all stock Miatas. The only thing you're allowed to change is the break balance, an that's basically a drivers' preference.

I'm new to the series as well, so my opinion could be off.

Muhaha.

Anywho, I have a notebook sitting in front of me plotting our Season 4.

Just thought I would put that out there. :sly:

Two things for season 4.... Trial Mountain, Stock, non-TC, 07' Miatas.

And sign me up for #16 in advanced.👍

Thanks for the reply.

By the way, pretty sure I've raced against you in Destinkeys' spec/shuffle lobbies, and if I remember right you were quite fast.

And yes, the no tuning restriction really appeals to me because I definitely do not have time for that.

Hmm, an hour a day. Probably can't do that, but my weekends are generally a little more open so maybe I can make up for it.

Again thanks. Does anyone who registers automatically get in? Or is there a tryout of some sort?

Yes, I recognized your PSN too. If I recall, you held your own.
Basically the same rules are used here. Like I said, the hour+ a day might not be for everyone. I'm sure some people can just turn on the PS3 and turn mid to low lap times. Actually, now that I think about it, I can think of a couple people who showed up at a practice lobby one day, said they'd never driven the Miata TC yet, jumped on the track and started turning laps I'd spent all week getting.

Edit: To my knowledge, there aren't any try-outs. Make sure you register. When I signed up, I thought posting on the forum was sufficient, but apparently you have to. Just fill out the information and you should be in, assuming there's still a spot open.

You have to get a picture of your car. Remember, it can't have chassis stiffness added or any other modification. I really don't know how you get a picture on. I went into a practice room where one of the members was kind enough to take and upload my picture for me. If you know how to do it yourself, you should go to Grand Valley and take a picture so it looks like the pictures of the drivers on the first post.

If there is space in the Division you select, you can get in automatically. However, if you are not certain that you can make all the races it is best to be put on the reserves list. Then just make sure you are around come race day so that you can jump into a room if we need you.

Awesome, thanks both of you. Reserve driver would probably be the best way for me to start.

Just wondering, how do you put yourself on the reserve list? Didn't see how to do that on the registration page and didn't see any mention of how to in the OP.

Sorry for all the questions.

Just register like normal. The registration page that only I can see, I think, is separated so that I know who is official and who is a reserve.

You'll have to sign up when everyone else does. ;)

I'll generally put in ~2 hours of practice before race-day.
If I'm off-pace or have spare time I'll put in a bit more.

Happy Birthday!!!!!!

For he's a jolly good fellow, for he's a jolly good fellow
For he's a jolly good fellow , which nobody can deny
Which nobody can deny, which nobody can deny
For he's a jolly good fellow, for he's a jolly good fellow
For he's a jolly good fellow , which nobody can deny!

(wikipedia, I actually forgot the lyrics)

Happy birthday
Thank you much, gentlemen. I'm getting close to the point in which I'm NOT looking forward to them.

I went ahead and bought myself Uncharted 3 as a gift. I just have to remind myself to get back to GT5 before Sunday so I don't forget how to drive. :dunce:

Ok, sly guy. Here's some ideas of my own.

1. Test out the tracks in pre-season before putting them on the schedule. We have a big enough group now that we can have practice races to see if the track is fit for racing.
2. If we're going to have custom tracks, have a couple to choose from and after testing, have a vote to decide which one we want.
3. Points for pole position.
4. An extra race or two on the schedule, especially if we get more DLC tracks.
5. A non-points All-Star race where the winner gets a nice prize.

How long of a break is there typically between seasons?

Tentative start for Season 4 is end of January. That gets the holidays, new years, and by birthday out of the way. :)

Edit: @ Outlaw: A couple of those might be implemented.

Edit 2: Oops. :P

I heard it is a masterpiece, so enjoy! My GF keeps asking me "have you bought me my game yet" because, just like the TV commercial, she loves watching the cut-scenes.

I don't know if this is anything new (I've never had cable before :P ) but the mid ohio spec miata race is on versus right now. :)

Edit: aaand its raining a lil bit :P

If we have enough people to do multiple divisions I love the zany idea of doing "regular-season" + "post-season".
Where the final race is a winner-take-all "super bowl" race and the points you acquire in the regular season just seed your spot through the playoffs (front row is division winners; points only determine which seasonal winner is on pole).

Something like this would be awesome:

Turbo, I would like you to try out one of my tracks, Eifel funner, for consideration in the next series. Named it before I realized I couldn't change the name later. I think you will like it.

Actually going to drop to 2 Divisions next season, since we'll also have the HDCS coming in. (Hard Dog Challenge Series = Stock '07's)

Edit: @ SpyHunter: You can change the name. Just go to the track editing feature, open up the track for editing (bottom right corner) then "Save As" again.

so you just use one side of the bracket. :sly:
