I've updated the race dates in the first post to reflect the new schedule. I've also added Tsukuba back in to the mix.

Edit: PM's sent so I can get an idea of who is still with me here...

Edit 2: Everyone that has responded to PM's so far has been highlighted Green in the first post.

It seems that the PSN outage has had a disastrous effect on the participation/contribution level of the FMSC's drivers pool.

Where is everyone???

I see some familiar names creepy around the thread but the lack of posts is truly saddening. The three week hiatus has left me craving for some competitive races with the guys I have learned to trust in close quarters. However, it seems that my enduring enthusiasm for this series and its competitors is a rare commodity. :(

Check the signup list in the first post. Everyone highlighted in green has responded to my PM about completing the rest of the season. (except a few that I assume will be there...like you)

I'm coming!!!!! Well...slowly but surely....my mom had an accident this weekend (biking) so I've been outa commission since psn came back up, but I'll be on at my usual 9 EST tonight :)

Stig you need a Ninja Pony avatar. I swear I never see your name at the bottom of threads, but you come in and respond to things within a minute of the last post and then slip out like you were never there.

Meh. The series is postponed for over a month, so I don't have any desire to jump into a Miata right away. I'm definitely still in for the races, but for now (and before the hiatus) I've been hanging out with the 450PP club almost every night and it's some of the most fun I've had racing online. Everyone is pretty clean and respectable and there's lots of great racing every night.

That's the issue with postponing the series.

I think a full reboot of the series would have been a more inviting choice for both those returning and those who didn't know about the series before hand. Damn PSN outage. 👎

^^^ Hey Mr Coconut your PM box was full so I couldn't send you a PM. I assume you're still in for the rest of the series?

Eh? I'm sure I deleted my stuffs after I got a notification. lol.

It would be odd if I weren't participating and still posting! But yes, 👍

Vehicle choice is not solely restricted to Miatas in practice rooms. I am more interested in getting back to racing in general and I would prefer to do it with the guys we race with in this series. Nothing against anyone else, I have just had a lot of fun with this core group of drivers.

As have I. But you gotta branch out and try racing with new groups. I didn't want to race with anybody but the cleanest people I already knew, but generally if you follow a good racer friend into other rooms you'll be please with the quality of racers you meet. :)

Or if you follow me you may just end up in a drift competition room :P

Registration list updated.

Edit: I need some opinions on an idea I had last night, but not sure if it would work. Basically it's a way to eliminate the "too many people for one room" problem that we face all the time. What if the races were time based? For instance, we ran two full rooms for 30 laps (or whatever) then at the end of the races everyone's total time is jotted down and then we mix the two rooms based on those times and that determines your finishing position?

Get it?

I don't like the feeling of not being able to control my own result. What I mean is that even if you finish first in your respective room it doesn't guarantee that you will finish first overall, obviously.

Take for instance my experiences in the first two races of Season 1 in which I ran in Group B. I won both of the races and spent the majority of the second half of each race trying to maintain my comfortable lead whilst not overdriving the car. Now if you compare my total race times (ETs) to the times for the top finishers in Group A, my times were significantly slower both races. You can check the results if you still have them but IIRC I would have finished outside the top three each race. I guess I could have pushed as hard as possible to get the fastest ETs but there wasn't a need.

Granted Group B didn't have the competition level of Group A but having a 20 second lead on the field should serve as a pretty good indicator that you are carrying on fairly well. Perhaps with more evenly balance rooms this might hold true but it seems with multiple rooms and your finishing position being based on your ET you will have to push hard every lap no matter what just to be sure.

Yeah I see what you mean. It was only an idea, and it could work but everyone would have to know up front that their position in the race they are currently running does not mean that is where they will finish. It would make the races more intense I think, since people would have to be pushing 100% all the time. I'm going to check the results from the first two races this season when I get home and for 🤬 and giggles see how they would have turned out if we ran them this way. :dopey:

Oh, and nice ninja edit.

I think the qualifying process makes it fair. In the cape ring north b race I think I would have ended up 5th overall. I just think having the a race and b race completely separate creates more of an esteem around the A race if you know what I mean.

I definitely think it would be more intense and it could be a cool format if you have the right (large) group of guys. One of the first things that comes to my mind, though, is the number of complaints we would see from Driver A crying about how Driver B held him up for five seconds or spun him out when he was trying to pass and it cost him three positions in the combined final results.

It would kind of be a hybrid rally system but the driver wouldn’t know real-time whether to push or take it easy.

Glad you caught that, it wasn't very clear before the edit. :)

It would be interesting to see how it would compute.

People are always going to complain. You can never make everyone happy. And as far as people holding you up during the race....it's racing. :)

The fact that the driver won't know what needs to be done is one of the bad parts about it, I will admit. This isn't something I would implement right now, just something to think about and maybe start a whole new series in the future just for testing it out.

I like the idea because it helps everyone as long as you know what you're doing.

Yeah you have to push it 100% to shoot for the fastest time, so even if you're 20 seconds ahead of everyone you don't slow down. But it can definitely help for people who are generally pretty fast but might have a bad moment; with the 2 lap qualifier style like before, if you blow it on one lap because you unluckily dropped a wheel by two inches you only have 1 lap to get a good time. It's stressful enough under watchful eyes, and then when you spin the pressure is grossly magnified.

This idea of running a full race can even that out. Maybe you get a bad start or a bump through T1 or you spin somewhere... you have the rest of the race to make it up and a lot of fast laps can really bring you back up to a respectable position. Sure if you have even the slightest mistake you're not going to be the fastest, but having enough time to make up for it will help those who are consistent. The guys who are always the fastest will still always be the fastest, so [Bro], you don't have much to worry about. ;)

Don't do it! I've owned 5 celicas and the 88 is just plain boring :( You can find a nice 91 GT for 2 grand :) For 2500 you can probably find a nice late 80's mr2 :dopey:

I'm just thinking "best available car for the money" right now. All Miata's in that range are junk, no MR2's anywhere to be found that don't need $$$ repairs, and nothing else super exciting. (unless you want a Honda) :ill:

Edit: Mods = less boring cars. :P

Problem I have is KBB only goes back to '91 and I don't know the average price for a GT-S model. I'd also have to look at it. Judging by the pictures it has a straight body, fairly clean interior, all power items work including the A/C, super low mileage, lots of new parts, etc. I was going to offer $2,500.

Edit: I know it doesn't look like much, but for some reason here in Phoenix you can't find cleaner cars for that kind of money. Everything is made of gold out here apparently.

Edit: Anyone that was in the Group B races so far this year have the results saved?
