Practice race tonight at 8pm eastern. Couldn't think of a track to use, so we'll probably just use a custom track.

Practice room CLOSED.

Edit: and practice race canceled I guess. Nobody around. Also, if this keeps up I may cancel the series as it is, make some solid changes, and start over in a couple weeks...

People are expecting for the series to start up again on the 12th, give them a couple of days to get on, after all they do have lives to live.

Not really the point, but whatever. Qualifying starts in a couple days and if we have less than a full room show up, I'm shutting the whole thing down. I may just do it anyway.

Well, here's hoping people show up :nervous:

@SohnVonStig I've been meaning to ask, what's with the ponies?

Warning!!!! Mega-response post incoming...

What kind of solid changes are we talking about Turbo Man? Just curious. :) You know I will be around for whatever but a lot of us have been waiting for a very long time and are eager to get this mamma-jamma rockin' and rollin' again! I don't want to have to wait another couple of weeks to race our Miatas.

I am going to bump this thread all day to make sure it's atop the thread list in the sub-forum. That will hopefully get both new and old participants' attention and bring this baby back to life. Perhaps you can update the thread title to be a little more inviting rather than it saying "Room CLOSED" as I think that might be a little off-putting. Maybe you could put "REGISTRATION OPEN, see first post" if you are worried about participation numbers.

Where is everyone? I'm at work, myself...

I am at work, too. But this is 13 hours after your post. :dunce:

Only 4 people on my friends list were on GT at 8. Kinda sad.

I was on at 8:00 but I signed off at 8:05ish because I had to go meet a guy about a complete leather interior he had for sale for the 2002 Ford Escape I just purchased (I know, trust me I know).

If you build it, they will come!

What ponies? :D Surely you can't be serious!

It's a long running joke that started around the time that PSN went down and continues to hold entertainment value for many that were initially involved. In fact, in the Cappuccino Cup, Stig is more commonly referred to as PonyStig!

@8 I was cooling down after a long day at work with broken AC.

I, too, was dealing with broken AC. I had a condenser fan destroy itself in one of my window units. I found a replacement online for $15 shipped and it should be here today or tomorrow, Hurray!!!

It's a mascot of a school he'll be going to this fall.

Haha! :D

  • Change in points structure
  • Change in allowed modifications
  • Change in race schedule
  • Small things like Sponsors and sponsor-based paint schemes
  • Etc, etc.

It really is tough because of the PSN outage. There was a nice, set, structured flow going on only to be interrupted and then, I'm sure for most of us, life just got in the way and GT5 took a back seat.

If the series restarts, I'm certainly for it. I made a suggestion to it not too long ago.

If the series continues, I'm certainly for it. I'll even help Brosifduder with the postings to keep people informed of it. Some of the most respectful racers are in this series who aim to be faster than they already are. Not many series on this forum provide an environment to really test our skills with some of the best GTP has to offer.

Another thing I'm looking at, when I went through my PSN friends list last night, some of our main guys haven't been on in a LONG time. SAMHAIN and Egghead haven't even been on PSN for over 40+ days. Same goes for a couple others I can't remember.

Stig and I have been talking about sponsoring racers for the grip stuff. 👍 Not much a sponsor can do on here, but we have come up with providing:

- Car for racer
- All parts needed
- Gifts for certain finishes
- etc.

All we require is that you inform us of the series (with a link) so we can check it over (almost none will be refused). Must have our team colors on car at all times, plus we are thinking of some more justt havent had time to get together to discuss it further. We are having a team meeting tonight to go over it a bit more on what we want to do. If you think you are interested you guys can always jump over to the Drop5 Thread and take a look. And feel free to ask me or Stig questions.

That's not what I meant. I just meant that each driver (or team) would assign themselves a real sponsor (like Flyin' Miata) at the beginning of the season, and they would have to run the associated colors from that sponsor for the entire season.

I'd also like to suggest someone start up a racing series based on the FIA GT4 Cup. I want to race in one but don't feel like running it.

I know that Egghead is in the process of selling his condo so he had to pack all his GT5 gear up to make the place look attractive to prospective buyers.

I think you were sitting in that 370Z for too long. :)

I'm not feelin very talkative today, but I think part of the draw of the popularity of FMSC was its simplicity. Taking tuning out of the equation for season 2 made me very happy :) Everything else sounds great. I'll be there whether its season 2 still or season 3.

As for the ponies go check out the movies and tv section of the off topic forum :)

I was planning on running a Lotus Evora, I don't know what you're talking about.

Edit: And I would also like to say that I have A LOT more respect for the 370Z now, as they are very capable cars on the track even in stock form. 👍

Did they disable the rev-matching feature for downshifts on the 370Z so you had to heal and toe?

Were you 3rd for the GTA finals?

How did you compare to the rest of the group with those results? Did the other racers have any previous on track experience and how did that translate with their results? Just curious. lol

The cars we were using were equipped with the paddle-shift auto. 👎

WOW!!! I am sure it was still tons of fun. How did everyone else feel about that?

Since most modern racecars utilize clutchless pedal setups it probably makes sense to take it out of the equation. It still seems like they should have had some proper transmissions for you guys to thrash.

Sorry if I don't answer all questions, trying to stay within my allowed limits here... :scared:

Yeah I forgot about the gag order. Sorry!

Well, now that you are back you can start deciding which racing teams you want to send your "demo tape" to to convince them to give you a shot behind the wheel. You could try Dempsey Racing, he's got ties to Mazda, maybe he will want to make a movie about it! :dopey:

I honestly don't even know where to begin with that. Some people mentioned a racing "resume". Are those things real? Is it like an employment resume, but lists your racing experience?

Or am I way off base here?

Seems about right to me! Why not? Anything to get your arse in the seat!

Edit: Call Tommy Kendall and see if he can help you out. See if Flyin' Miata will offer some sponsorship or let you co-drive at Targa Newfoundland. Try and contact some of the smaller Grand-Am teams that run GS and ST and see if you can get some seat time with them!

1) I have TK's email address, he gave it to a few of us the last night we were there.
2) Track experience is NOT rally experience. Plus, FM is a small company and they very rarely sponsor people.

I just need to get something set up and sent out. I'll e-mail TK first and go from there...

I had a feeling you couldn't answe those Q's. Oh wells, worth a shot. lol.

The racing resume sounds exactly as you described. I'm not sure if work experience, since you've worked with FM, would count toward that at all. Were you around during the trackdog years or the beginnings of the targa?
