Was this your lap time Turbo? I finally get within half a second of your 1:18.1 last night and you (or someone) go and drop the time even further. I just can't keep up. You must be using super secret illegal soaked in sauce tires?

I was with him last night and I recall him hitting 17's at least twice.

The question isn't the times you're able to get but rather what times you're consistently running.

Welsh_Bain is good. When I see his laps he's consistent enough to pull off a 18.1 during qualifying.

You'll lose time from turn 1 and 2 alone, usually. The thing is when I watched your laps last night, I constantly saw good speed but no time. So idk what's happening.

I know you're using a controller but I don't want to point it out to that.

I had only two sessions of practice with GVER and the first session I had similar times to you. The second session, after taking a break and just telling myself to take it easy on the throttle, braking, turn in, etc is where I saw 18.0xx. Try easing in to it. Slow down more than you think you have to and maybe you'll see yourself faster. After you get those quicker times start applying speed gradually, trying different lines, different braking points, and the works.

From last nights practice, i definitely got more consistent, but my fastest time still hasn't dropped. Thing is, all my best laps I was literally on the edge about to wreck, meaning their is not way I could do it on a consistent basis (don't wanna blame it on the controller...but I can't help but think it is playing some role).

I'm running 19.5-19.2 consistently, fastest a 18.8. Turns 1 and 2 are really the toughest part, and I seem to be losing time in sector 2, just have no idea where. Pretty comfortable with sector 3 though.

You should be on the edge for sector one only since that's arguably the toughest part of the track. Sector two I'd say, based on my experiences, that you might be losing time on the turn immediately exiting the tunnel since I learned to lose some speed on that corner in order to have better entry to the following corner before the uphill section.

I think I told you this last night. lol

I think the phrase you are looking for is: "slow down to go faster."

Yeah, sector 1 is quite tough, but definitely improved my rhythm through their.

As for sector 2, you did tell me lol, but for some reason, it didn't regiester :dunce:
Now that you mention entry into the next set of corners though...it makes a lot more sense, was wasting quite a bit of momentum through their...now just gotta force myself to slow down a bit

I am having the hardest time with that first section. my back end seems to keep coming out! But i have discovered throughout the night of us running i noticed if i take my time i went faster. If i would have continued to do practice laps i think i would have broke into the 18's.

I feel just like you xAmilli0n. I am using the controller and dont really want to blame it on just that, But to me it feels like i cant transition smooth enough with the controller as i would with the steering wheel. But i just switched over recently from COD to GT5 so i am fairly new to the game let alone the online physics.

Buy a set of these...

$11 and really helps smooth out your inputs. I got down to mid 1:18's with a controller. I have also heard of people remapping the buttons to use R2 as throttle and L2 as brakes. That way they can left foot (finger) brake and keep the power down on slower powered cars. Been thinking about trying this?

Ill have to look into those. And currently right now I have my gas as R2 and Brake as L2. I shift with X and Square.

It sure does take a long time for my posts to go up on this site... does everyone have to wait for moderator confirmation?
Lol ok now it did it fast.
I am using a controller.. still on X for gas etc (default) and was able to get 1.18.8xx GVER in my NB. Will try the revised controls and see how I do.

Also changing to HandofGod25 (HandofGod25) '04 - HEMI Orange / Silver

sorry for the extra work.:)

I still use X and Square...I really didn't like the way the triggers felt (truth is I tried it for one lap lol) plus shift with something other than the triggers...habits are hard to break lol

Actually now that I think about it, I could try accelerator with the triggers, and shift with the right thumbstick (kinda like NFS Most Wanted back in the day...)

That's actually the setup I have for whenever I feel like using a controller (0.5% of the time).
I still haven't gotten used to it, but I think in terms of translating realistic driving controls to a ds3 it's the best you can do.

Edit: someone did a review of the HKS controller in the main GT5 forum. Seems like it's pretty good for people who don't have room for or can't afford a wheel.

Back in the original GT days, I used to use a Namco neGcon and it was a great driving controller when you didn't have a wheel. I wish GT still supported these.

I'm actually saving up for a wheel, so hopefully in about a month my times drop by like a second at least :dopey::lol::confused::dunce:

sorry for the smilies...couldn't resist

I have to also! But I can't a good one for cheap!

We are brothers. In the same house!

I was actually going to guess that you were brothers. I saw your post on the GT Academy Facebook page rooting on your your brother and it had me wondering why you weren't racing with us. Glad to see you are leaving COD camp and moving onto a real game like GT5. You should be playing Battlefield Bad Company 2 (soon Battlefield 3) to get your FPS fix anyways!

Steal your brother's. It's both cheap and easily obtainable!

I am waiting for BF3! And ya right he would kill me! I am just looking for the older model or aka the first model with the 900 degree steering. GT Force?
