I think the visual lets you know how the protein is folding.
If you pay attention you can see it grow bigger over time.

Not being a molecular biologist and working with proteins I can't say if they represent something or just look differently based on size of work units or something.

If you look here, Click on one of Ebiggs detailed folding thingey's. It comes to a list where he folded certain protiene thingeys, which is MORE than LIKLY what you see on your TV as its folding, I'm guessing theirs no way to tell what kind of p(x) it is, until it's done!

It looks like I reached the point on the ladder that will now slow down. In many cases I will have to double a point total just to gain a few postions. I've also noticed much smaller work units coming in during the last week.

Edit: I was also getting a bunch of short (3 hour) units last week. There were some interesting shapes though, including one very long chain.

Our points are truly a cumulative number, with G.T being the only standout (I'm coming for you).

Ok. I could totally thrash everyone by having 2 PS3s folding, but I dunno if the parents would like the electricity bill.

Hehe, I think I'm going to give up entirely once I reach 1000 work units. I've only been doing evenings, but I'm now becoming slightly concerned with the colossal amount of dust in the machine, and the electicity is becoming stupidly expensive now (just running the Playstation alone in the evenings is about £5 per month).
