Scratch that... It obviously needed to do a few frames before making a proper estimate. It's now saying it's complete the work unit in a couple of days.

OK, which one of you is in the Bermuda Islands? lol I like how, in the middle of nowhere, the lone folding@homer appears he's afloat in the middle of the Atlantic ocean all by himself.

I think I was on the map the first night of the update. There weren't any other dots around my area.

I can safely now say that my issue was the same and that my computer doesn't suck as hard as we thought it did. 👍

Timeframe's less than a month for WU completion and will hopefully drop.

Yeah, I suppose your CPU has got to work out how long it's going to take as well, which would actually take a while in itself.

I find it pretty cool how it knows where you are on the map. Yesterday, when it looked like only about 50 people were using the program in the UK, I was the only person in the South using it.

I'm a member of another F@H group, but I'll be happy to log some hours for this GTP group from time to time. 👍

It doesn't use much memory, does it? According to my Task Manager, it's only using about 14Mb of RAM. I thought it'd be gobbling up my available memory.

edit: I assume that WINFAH.EXE is the Folding@Home process, right?

KM.

yes. The actual folding is such and such CORE.exe

Don't mess with that. Right click icon, configure. Turn CPU usage all the way up and slightly higher priority. No extra hitch but guarantees 100% usage when away.

So my name doesnt show up on the list of team members, is that because I'm the one looking at it?

where is the team page, I would like to track our progress.

sorry just found it. 👍

I have less Work Units, yet more points then Pako. Odd... :odd:

1 SOLID_LIFTERS 1639 5
2 Pako 1583 6
3 SolidFro 1498 5
4 Eric_Biggs 1211 4
5 PZF_ 954 3
6 ALPHA 924 3
7 landseaair 861 3
8 PS3 589 2
9 OZZY 574 2
10 D-Nitrate 350 1
11 glacier985 302 1

I joined up the other day, been folding at night, but the PS3 seems to heat up my room.
I bet PS3 F&Hing slows down over the summer, and really picks up again in the Winter... as it makes for a great space heater. ;)

I plan on leaving mine on 24 7 by tomarow

How long have have yours been on for?

Mine was on for about 34 hours, then I gave it a four hour rest. It was cold when I turned it back on about twenty minutes ago. I plan to leave it on all night.

EDIT:

It looks like the total TFLOPS rating for the PS3 has dropped considerably. It was at 780+, but now it's 481. Odd.

Yeah. I wondered what was going on too, as I got a couple of 50000 ones at first. Now I've got one at 39999...

Well, I've been leaving the PS3 on almost all day, with a few breaks in between Oblivion and F@H. It'll get around 36 hours straight on this session.

Go team!

Somehow it managed to get two units done overnight, I should have 5 total team folds, and one fold I did before joining the team

Anyone else surprised how many people at any given time, are running F@H on their PS3's... just a couple days ago there were very few lights showing up on the map, but the numbers have rapidly been growing. Now the States, South America, all over Europe, and even across Africa are lit up with lights. In fact, if you get a chance, check out the Caribbean Islands... they must love the PS3 there! Wow!

As these lights represent PS3's currently running F@H, I wondered how often they update it. It appears they update it fairly often, as I have seen some lights go off and others come on, as some people stop running F@H, and others turn it back on.

Anyway, I have to admit, that "globe of lights" is fun to mess with. I just fish it allowed you to zoom in even closer - like Google Earth. :)

Pako, what kind of PCs do you have running F@H on? You are getting a ton of work units finished.

Looks like Eric pulled ahead by just a few points. I have some big folds in the works, one in particular will be worth around 1200 points. Seems that 5,000 folds are worth about 350 points or so, I have a system working on a 20,000 fold right now, it's currently at 9000/20000. I should have taken a picture last night of my buddy list. One contact after another were 'Folding'. :)

I have been folding 24/7 since monday and im in 10th, im I doing something wrong here? How you you guys get 10-15 workloads so fast?

That must be a PC, because I just read their news and they said they are limiting the PS3 folds to 4,000 for a while, but will increase it soon. That's why the TFLOPS rating changed from so high, to so low. But, once the protein size increases, so will the points and the TFLOPS count.

I just finished #12, but #13 wont come for a while. I'm giving my PS3 and modem a much needed rest after being on for over three straight days. I hear Standford had PS3 constantly running for several weeks now, and not one PS3 has died or failed. Nice track record of reliability, if you ask me.

I've been doing it since Friday afternoon. Three and a half days. You've only started yesterday. Give it time. The most units you can do is three a day.
