I honestly don't care. I'll collect all the cars I want for my garage without duping. But I've traded for an x2010 which I know has been duped because I can't be bothered to watch B-Spec Bob do the endurance races.

LOLZ, you actually "Watch" your bob? The Bobs I have are "Fire-And-Forget" drivers at this point.

sometimes you buy a car that turns out to be useless. or at least not as u expected. so this glitch helps you restore your money to get another car. thats a good use of the glitch i think.

thanks for the instructions man.

The joy in this game will be going into my garage seeing my hard earned cars which I love in real life too and then taking them online and playing against mates in a room with limits on power and weight.

If you want to dupe do it, if not don't. I don't think it will ruin anyones game tbh.

+1 Agree!
I have a strong car collection and I have never duped to get a single one and it makes me feel satisfied to see all my cars have been EARNED legitimately! :) As my signature says, Dupers = Cheaters IMO and I want nothing to do with it as it will destroy my appreciation of the game as I will not truly earn my garage. However, to each their own and I am not bothered it I am the only person in the world not cheating because I know I'm not and I can be satisfied with what I have earned LEGITIMATELY!
So if you want to cheat, do so. If not, just ignore it as I do... Who really cares if other people are to lazy to complete a game legitimately... This has been the case forever... Remember good old cheats with classics like AoE etc... SAME PRINCIPLE!

Gran Turismo 5 is cheating. I spent £3,000 having the twin cam rebuilt in my Lotus Elan Sprint that I blew up last February. It hasn't turned a wheel in nearly a year. I want to take to the Nurburgring in the summer if I get it running in time. Now I've got GT5 and I bought a Lotus Elan S1 on the first day of playing, tuned it to 126bhp, sprayed it red like mine and took it to the 'Ring. "This is cheating!" I thought, as I piloted my digital steer around the Karussel. If only it was a premium model and not a crappy standard one I could sell my real one as with a beautifully recreated interior and high resolution rendering of it's sublime curves what possible reason would there be to own a real one?

Then I just have to remember back to the day I bought it and how amazing it felt driving it home along the back roads around Goodwood, the engine popping and crackling, steering feeding me every detail of the road as it glided around corners with seemingly no inertia, and then think forward to how exciting and nerve-wracking the Nurburgring is going to be in a plastic car with no roof, roll cage, ABS or inertia reel seatbelts. No, it's not cheating.

So dupe away...

1st-LOL @ people complaining,it won't ruin your life
2nd-this is an awesome exploit if your like me and like having more than one of the same car with different setup's:)

Duping a car is far different from using a cheat. I also fail to see how Duping a car can effect anybody??? What difference does it make if someone rocks up in car they have bought vs duped? The car is the same, no advantage gained.

Cheating gives the user an unfair advantage duping does not.

I challenge anybody to prove how duping cars gives people an "unfair" advantage in GT5 when it comes to online racing, time trials or anything "actually" measurable.

"Cheating refers to the breaking of rules to gain advantage in a competitive situation"

This is a racing game. I don't see how getting duplicates of paint/cars is cheating. If you don't like it, don't do it. Some of us have jobs and a life and want a few shortcuts to get what we want.

just a note. be very careful and pay attention when you do this. and make sure you backup your "dupe" accounts onto your computer. thankfully backed mine up the week i tried duping. did a few trades with friends, etc. got lackadaisical about it and forgot to back up my main account. ended up losing it. had to restore back a week prior (was a LOT of driving I had done). Served me right.

this is exactly why I did it. Just wanted to share some cars with a friend and get some of his, etc. Just be careful if you choose to do it. You CAN lose your stuff.

I also found pretty much right away that the time it took to do all the saving/restoring/backing up took so long that it almost wasn't worth my time. 👎

I don't duplicate or birthday cheat, but I'm sure all of my 0km non-premium cars I've received in trades have been by other people. Doesn't bother me, 0km is 0km, however the person got it.

When the cars are worth 2million + its takes far less time than grinding to win that amount of money.

Agreed. I got the ones I wanted. I just decided it wasn't worth it to keep doing it on a daily basis, which MANY people are doing. I hardly have enough time in my life to PLAY the game, why would I spend so much time just doing the duping?

I have read through all posts and have not seen this argument raised yet in terms of who this glitch actually effects, so I think it might have some merit. First let me say duping cars for your benefit in single player I have no problem with, but when it comes to online racing I have a huge problem with it, let me explain.

I mostly race nascar races online. As we all know when racing online your car will slowly lose horsepower the more laps you put down(Oil, and engine degrading) and I feel I was forced to purchase every nascar in the game because people have duped so many nascars in their own garage that they now have 30-40 and can run a fresh car every race. They do not need to change oil, rebuild motors, or restore the chasis. Every race it's a new duped car that has max horsepower. Is this fair? Honestly I don't think it is. Now clearly I could go buy 30-40 nascars and do the same thing, but that's not what these people have done. I know they are using duped cars because for some reason all the "dupers" really seem to like to talk about how many duped cars they have.

I really don't care what people are doing in the single player portion of the game because as has been stated it effects nobody, but when guys are getting online with 30 duped cars all of the same type so that they can always have a fresh car car then it's effecting me and every other racer in the room. If you think this is a minor gripe then go do some online nascar races and see how much of a difference it makes when you are running a car that has been more than broken in running at 850hp versus a fresh car with 892 hp. It will change your lap times at Daytone by 1.5 seconds.

I know most "dupers" will have some argument for this, and it will somehow be my fault, but in my eyes this is cheating. It's using a glitch/loophole to have an advantage against other racers online. I'm suprised I have not seen this mentioned yet because I think it's the best case of this glitch effecting other online racers. I'm sure it happens in other race rooms as well and not just nascar.

lock thread, lock 1's for trade, keep saves. problem solved. Please lock this cheaters thread it should not be condoned.

I agree. Maybe its my moral compass, but I didn't even read the beginning of this thread. :ouch: I've had so many online rpg/game experiences tainted by others using these types of exploits to get ahead. I'm sad to know this is out there! :scared:

You really should go back and read the thread, start on page 5 or to make it easy for you

You really should read the whole thing.

Now just in case you don't I'll also point out that a cheating involves the breaking of rules to gain an advantage, as has been pointed out many times there is no breaking of rules occurring here, the PSN user agreement defines cheating and this method does not violate this agreement. Furthermore obtaining a car using these methods does not give the player any advantage over one who chooses not to use these methods.

So please explain how this is a cheaters thread.

... or you could just change your oil, and you're right back to 892hp.

I can't say it is. I've had my share of extensive online racing, in FM2, and we all kept duplicates of cars tailor built to suit a certain track. Mind you, even a upgraded Mugen went for 300.000 cr due to the money glitch in the auction house.

There was no loss in power, sure, but if you cared about online racing the way it was carried out, you had to invest a lot in your car lot.

I'm taking a rather relaxed stand on duping, because, as was mentioned before, save game sharing was rather common in earlier versions of GT.

Relax, have a few Nascars to toy with, do a seasonal race once in a while and you should have plenty of cr. "the hoenst way".

I have a huge problem with it, let me explain...

I doubt anyone would do that. I know I wouldn't waste my trade slots just to get the same car 50 times. I'll just wait until it needs to go to GT Auto, then either sell it and buy a new one for free, or send it to an alt and fix it for free.

I'd rather fluctuating horsepower be removed from the game. It's just an unnecessary complication.

As for duping, its purpose in the eyes of most dupers, is to allow one to enjoy the game. No one is looking to cheat (well, someone is probably, but that's the minority most likely. Duping doesn't make cheating easy anyway so they'd be better off doing something else).

Not to mention the fact that there are... (whispers) ...horsepower restrictions you can implement...

I have taken pictures for my local forum if you want to use it for a visual aid.

2. BUY YOUR DREAM CAR FOR FREE (NOTE: YOU MUST HAVE SUFFICIENT MONEY TO BUY THE CAR YOU WANT)

1. Create a decoy account in your ps3 to receive the car.
2. Create a psn account for your decoy account and start the game to get everything done(profile etc.) in the gt5.
3. Quit the game and log in your main account.
4. Backup(copy) your data in the saved data utilities to the other account(not decoy account) or USB drive. (It is better to save the game manually in the gt5 to prevent any lost data)
5. Start the game from your main account.
6. Buy the car that you dream for.
7. Get the car from the car delivery.
8. Now you have the car in the premium/standard section in the garage. (Do whatever upgrades if you want to)
9. Send the car to your decoy account.
10. Quit the game.
11. Delete the game data from the saved data utilities in your main account.
12. Log out your main account and log in the account where you copied the game data as backup.(In case you backup in the other account but not the usb)
13. Copy the backup game data into your main account.
14. Now logout from the account and login to the decoy account.
15. Start the game from the decoy account.
16. Get the gift from the community section and goto the car delivery section to get the car.
17.Send the car back to the main account from the garage.
18.Login your main account and start the game. TA-DA! You have the same amount of money before you buy the car and you received the dream car from your decoy account!

NOTE: ONLY ONE CAR FOR AN ACCOUNT SO CREATE MORE! Thx to Exorcet!

Additional Notes: *What I meant "other account" is the other user on the
same ps3.*

Does this still work, I used it to buy a McLaren F1 without spending anything (months ago), but I don't want to waste all my Cr.20,000,000 if it doesn't, (heard something like you can't send many cars to 1 account or something) at the moment I only have 1 spare PSN account (used for the McLaren F1) with a X1 proto on it

This is just too slow....and for what?1 car and no exp?

And lol at the pictures showing how to do this "totally uber super hard" process :)

It's great for cars that are very expensive that you don't want to lose millions of credits for.

And I don't understand the people who say this process is slow. It takes about 15 minutes to do this, which certainly beats saving credits endlessly and waiting for a car to show up in the used lot if what you want is a standard car.
