As has been the tradition over the past few years, we have individual threads for Formula 1 car launches. And Force India surprised everyone by releasing images of their new car, the VJM07, today.

Unfortunately, I am limited by the way I am posting from a mobile device, so I cannot really copy and paste images in without a hassle. Nor will I be able to orchestrate the car launch threads this year.

Sweet livery. 👍

Just as I feared, it appears the schlong-nose is upon us...

Nice comparison pic (even if whoever did it flipped the bottom one):

Whole package is much tighter. I like it.

The black does give it a more menacing look. Reminds me of the Minardi PS04B livery with added orange accents.

Hope they haven't ruined the lower nose with one of those extended aero nubs. It's hard to tell with the edge of the front wing being in the way in that shot.

The nose will change. Launch specification to ensure the car can go testing, new radical designs coming (radical meaning ugly probably).

Love the new livery though! Such a small change (base colour) can really make a striking difference.

Not just the base color, the way all the colors are laid out is makes it so nice.

So the roll hoop to the engine cover on back looks similar to the F138 and other teams and thus is a more tighter package than what FI ran during the season.

Though the FI version this year looks much more smooth, but I wont be able to tell until official launch, and considering that many teams have their cars built, fired the engines up in them perhaps we may get more of these. The closest thing to this prior was Caterham yesterday showing composite builds of various parts of the new car, that didn't give the viewer much idea of what they were seeing, other than carbon fiber.

I was aghast when I saw the livery on Autosport, because the image is so tiny on my screen. I warmed to it considerably when I saw it in higher resolution .

Looks pretty good. Be interesting to see head on tho.

Also is there I driver sat on it? I'm looking via mobile so the pic isn't great, looks like a driver sat in there doing a 2 handed fist pump!

There isn't, but I can kind of make out what you are seeing!

Craig Scarborough has posted a piece about the rendering and what it does reveal. Some of it is as we already knew from the rules set, but his look at the nose reads a good amount from very little material.

The VMJ07 livery doesn't quite match Force India's best, which would be a tossup between the 02 and 03. The former having the nicest overall design, barely.

VJM01 is an easy pick for me! The F1 cars of 2007 and 2008 are easily my favourite, especially the BMW F1.08 with the horns on its nose and complicated winglets. The "modern" F1 cars looked a bit awkward in 2009 but they've definitely grown on me, I certainly don't think they're ugly anymore but just not quite the same. Just from the side profile alone, the VJM07 is probably my favourite of the modern cars, the low nose makes the front end look a whole lot better IMO, but we'll have to wait and see how it looks from other angles.

The 01 and the 07 are my favourites. I'm colour-blind, so the mix of orange and green isn't great. It got better once they darkened the orange and kept it separate from the green on the 05 and 06, but the 02, 03 and 04 are a nightmare to look at.

Same here, kinda feel those were the last years of good looking F1 cars (With the exception of the Brawn BGP as it was actually the only one I really liked).

I always hated the pre-2009 cars. They just looked bloated to me. Everything since - even the platypus noses - has been much smoother and has had much cleaner lines in the body.

The Minardi's livery looked very nice and balanced and the F.I.'s of old had a similar characteristic

This year's F.I. on the other hand...not a fan of the livery. It's almost as if they've decided to reverse all of the colors on MS Paint and said "yeah that's going to stand out enough." It does; but not in a good way. It looks like a bottom-feeder team's car from the early 90s that was brought to life by a reasonably wealthy businessman who had a couple of million bucks to burn on a Formula 1 team but didn't really have any idea what he was doing :indiff:

I hope their results this year prove otherwise.

The 04 2011 car was my favorite but this new one looks pretty good I only wish they would keep all the sponsors logo's one colour like white.

Claro like Total usually don't allow a color change it seems, so sadly it will be the red the sponsor uses for their logos everywhere else. Sadly some choices aren't left up to FI, just be glad Telmex isn't slapped on there, that blue wouldn't go at all with the rest of the scheme.
