Formula 1 2016 Grand Prix Of Europe

I read that Valtteri Bottas was recorded at a top speed of 234mph, apparently an all-time F1 record.
That's 374km/h.

Wat.
The previous record was by one of the Williams drivers at the 2004 Italian GP at 371 km/h, the fastest race pace was 369 km/h at the 2005 Italian GP.

Absolutely astonishing that these V6s are able to break the record!!!

In kilometres it was 376km/h (must've been going 234 and a bit).

The DRS and a few hundred hp from the ERS help too but still very impressive from the engine when you consider their efficiency.

Toto Wolf knows full well that anything less than a 1-2 in Qualifying is bad bad bad. They literally just give those Mercs to Lewis and Nico and they know that any slip any mess up and even 3rd or 4th looks bad, the Merc is THAT much of a class above still now after 2 seasons of utter dominance.

Oh and big props to Haryanto.

Yes, the world is over for Mercedes, they look very bad now one driver made some mistakes and wasn't at the front for one Race. Who is going to take them seriously or buy their cars now?!?!

I find it odd that there are "Well Done Baku" banners all over the place.

That's a bit of premature self-congratulations for something that hasn't occurred yet to be determined as to whether or not it is a success.

Hopefully for their sake it's not a repeat of "Mission Accomplished!":P

It's typical Bernie, lavish praise on those paying you the money. It's already backfired though, people are using it in a sarcastic manner for all the issues. Well done Baku, nice job on the kerbs. and the drain cover.

Every circuit has teething problems. Charlie Whiting was hard-pressed to explain why the circuit is having problems with its kerbs, since other circuits use the sane configuration. And don't forget that the organisers at Monaco had to weld a manhole cover in place.

Baku has done a considerably better job than some other new circuits. When Formula One arrived in Korea, the organisers were still painting the white lines at the edges of the circuit an hour before FP1 - and they had four whole years to get ready.

Never said it hadn't, I just said people were using the slogan sarcastically with those issues.

Good job Baku!

Did I even say that?

No, I said what I said which is to Toto he knows bar mistakes its 1-2 in the Mercs, they are THAT much better, even commentator said they are even more a class above at this track than other tracks....
It's people like you who ruin these threads, just simply slow down read stuff properly and engage brain before you type. The Merc is a class above, Jenson , Alonso, Vettel, Max, Ricciardo could all be sticking it on pole or 2nd were they lucky enough to be in it yesterday possibly others also.

So what is your point? We all know the Merc is the best car, it just seems like another roundabout way of bashing Lewis. God forbid he or any driver should make a mistake from time to time.

No my point is the pressure of being in a car that is just expected to be 1st or 2nd must be tough to take sometimes, even worse for Nico i imagine as a whole heap of people think he is a poor driver in a brilliant car, at least Lewis has a raft of people saying he's the greatest ever.
I'd rather be in a Merc than a Manor but then Nico and Lewis kinda have to win or come 2nd, thats a lot of pressure. Maybe just maybe that pressure got to Lewis yesterday? Just Toto's face when interviewed was not happy as like I say Merc SHOULD of been 1-2. It was a mistake but come race day Lewis should breeze up to 2nd if not 1st with those straights, so unless a crash or mech failure its Merc 1-2 in whatever driver order....

Predicting todays top ten finishers:

1. Nico Rosberg
2. Sebastian Vettel
3. Valtteri Bottas
4. Sergio Perez
5. Kimi Raikkonen
6. Daniel Ricciardo
7. Romain Grosjean
8. Fernando Alonso
9. Felipe Massa
10. Rio Haryanto

All of those drivers could also be sticking it in the wall, if they had been in the Mercedes...

Sorry could you show me where I said they couldn't?

Of course any driver could crash. Point is proven race winners and WDC means they in right car could be winning etc etc.

Fact is any other driver had of spent the day moaning about track walks and sims and had put it into the wall the internet would be taking the rip.. with Lewis..nothing.
