The drivers title has been wrapped up by Max Verstappen, giving us four races at the end of the season for everything else to tot up and fall into place. The Constructors Championship can be wrapped up by Red Bull at this race, held at a circuit which is starting to become a modern classic - with high-speed sections to rival (sorry, copy) other epic layouts, and one of the best sections of hairpins for switchback racing. Can anyone stop Max Verstappen? He won the last race by 27 seconds despite there only being about 30 minutes of green flag racing. Lewis Hamilton has 4 races to try and keep his "win a race in every season" streak, can he do it at a track he loves? It's time for the UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX!

Hopefully Lewis can win here. Seems like they should be really competitive at the next four circuits apart from maybe on the straights. Any potential PU penalties should spice things up.

Mercedes' chances at the titles seems to be slightly sliding away though, Saidur.

Get on there Lewis, magic enabled!

Singapore was quite costly for their outside chance of beating Ferrari so going to need a lot of fortune to achieve that with Alpine looking quite competitive now too. Main thing is to learn early the pitfalls though so not a wasted season. Looking very promising for next season if things work out as they plan.

Given how early Red Bull have won the driver's championship, they will probably do everything in their power to try and remain in the cost cap this year after saying the increase is not enough for them and that was before they knew they would be judged to have breached the rules procedurally for the previous year. Who knows with the FIA, two may remain two for Max, or will two become one or none? Might get messy as majority of teams will be wanting them punished if it turns out Red Bull indeed have breached the regulations given their level of performance.

Seeing how Latifi has got the taste for points, I'm saying Goatifi for the win.

I’m still disguisted with how of all companies to sponsor a US GP, it’s a Saudi company. The Saudis did 9/11. The Saudis killed that WaPo journalist. The Saudis torture protesters, including that woman who just wanted other Saudi women to be legally capable of driving without a man present.

Saudi Arabia, at least at the moment, is host to a government that is antithetical to American ideals. It’s beyond me why we continue to do business with them, but hopefully this OPEC oil cut will wake some people up. Saudi Arabia is not our friend.

Admittedly I forgot to add some sass to this in the thread title or opening blurb. But yes, the irony is not missed on me.

Clarification of the grid penalty rules:

a) Classified drivers who have received 15 or less cumulative grid penalties will be allocated a temporary grid position equal to their Qualifying Classification plus the sum of their grid penalties. If two or more drivers share a temporary grid position, their relative order will be determined in accordance with their Qualifying Classification, with the slowest driver keeping their allocated temporary grid position, and the other drivers getting temporary grid positions immediately ahead of them.

b) Following the allocation of temporary grid positions to penalised drivers in accordance with (a), unpenalised classified drivers will be allocated any unoccupied grid position, in the sequence of their Qualifying Classification.

c) Following the allocation of grid positions to unpenalised classified drivers, penalised drivers with a temporary grid position, as defined in (a), will be moved up to fill any unoccupied grid position.

d) Classified drivers who have accrued more than 15 cumulative grid position penalties, or who have been penalised to start at the back of the grid, will start behind any other classified driver. Their relative position will be determined in accordance with their Qualifying Classification.

e) Unclassified drivers who have been permitted to participate by the Stewards will be allocated grid positions behind all the classified drivers. Their relative positions will be determined in accordance with Article 39.3 (b).

Hope that's clear for everyone else - I on the other hand am still ...

Maybe we can rename it the Armco US GP and nobody will notice.

Ah, remember when F1 only had blood on its hands for being a dangerous blood sport?

Just say everyone starts from the pit lane and order from pit lane is determined by selecting names from a hat.

Clear as mud

this is nothing against you, but I never found the goatifi meme funny

I wanna see Haas in the points, everything else about this race doesnt really matter for me lol

I'm sort of surprised Sky F1 (or really any of the American affiliates) aren't interested in inviting Varsha/Diffey, Hobbs or Matchett. I guess it's because they are only regional broadcasters?

Weird lack of whelm across the build-up really. FP1 full of young drivers (and Giovinazzi, who stacked it), FP2 full of Pirelli tyre tests. No real idea who's where.

Except people who think women are property and express those sentiments - during the weekend where F1 announces an F4 series for women to complement W Series on the open-wheel ladder. We know where they are (and also aren't).

If they're so desperate to get a woman in F1, and Hamilton is so offended by W-Series' failure, why hasn't he insisted that Jamie Chadwick does an FP1 for Mercedes? They still need to do another session and haven't announced who.

Listening to Crofty's adulations, I do have to ask: Was it a stonking lap from Lewis? Or was it actually a poor lap from Max?
