Holysmoke that helmet cam looks insane.
It honestly gives me a small bit of anxiety. I'm not sure how it's wired up, but I'm fearful of the camera dislodging itself inside the helmet at speed. :scared:

3 tenths separate the Top 5 in Q2, with the pecking order being Red Bull, Ferrari (by an absolutely tiny margin) and then Mercedes. Haas and especially Alfa Romeo have some good speed in them. The fact that Zhou got P12 in his qualifying debut is pretty impressive.

Let's see what Q3 has to offer.

Is it the little black circle on the right? If so, that' a relief, and also makes me insanely curious as to how its wired up inside the helmet.
Not sure. Looks like it's put in a tiny piece of the same material the inside of the helmet has, and maybe glued where it is. I did catch a small sentence while googling for a picture that a driver wasn't fond of it as I imagine it sits slightly on the outside of their eyesight.

Bloody hell, them Ferraris aren't messing around. Merc. doesn't look like they're that far off the pace.

LEC - VER - SAI! HAM-BOT still on the menu.

Oh my lord, the qualifying was so unpredictable I don't even know where to start.

Biggest highlights:

Mercedes struggle is genuine
Haas' investment to this year pays off
Albon and Magnussen still have it
Bottas actually quick in a supposedly worse car

and...

testing reflecting the performances quite well, unusual.

Perez & Gasly both broke track limits. First weekend, new race control doing a bang up job on the new rules.

So... what did Guanyu do to get his Q2 time deleted, if this wasn't enough for Perez's one and only Q1 run?

I wonder if Wolff will go full Horner and protest to get Perez DNQed

Merc's q2 times 31.0 and 31.2. I have no idea what that first run in q3 was about, but ended in a 31.2 and 32.2, slower than q2. Weird.

And the top 10 is further apart than in 2021. Lovely.

I don't know about you, but I'm all set for a Horner-Binotto feud this season. IIRC, Charles has commented on changing his style after seeing how Max drove after Austria 2019 & again in Rio last year.

So we've gone approximately from this:

Red Bull
Mercedes
Ferrari
McLaren
Alpine
AlphaTauri
Aston Martin
Alfa Romeo
Williams
Haas

To this:

Ferrari
Red Bull
Mercedes
Alfa Romeo
Haas
Alpine
AlphaTauri
McLaren
Williams
Aston Martin

Pretty much everything I could have hoped for. Alfa and Haas huge surprises. That Ferrari engine is doing serious work!

Now if the new rules really make the cars able to follow and battle more it's going to be an awesome season!
