I'm sure Christian will let us know the second they find something even close to a gray area. How long before we find out the Ferrari engine has been “enhanced” ?
The broadcast I saw said he missed the apex on the first corner.PS: What happened to Russell in Q3? He went from on par with Lewis to a whole second off?
Toto Wolff reportedly told to push his tyres more in the outlap at his/the teams request and with that made a mistake at Turn 1.PS: What happened to Russell in Q3? He went from on par with Lewis to a whole second off?
Probably not over night, but I would bet they are going to be in the fight this season. Maybe at Australia.I'm a bit sad to see my team not at the top anymore, but i welcome the new season ahead. I just hope Mercedes can figure it out and climb back to the top again. But i doubt that's realistically going to happen over night.
I'm stoked for Valteri though, and the Ferrari's. Should be a good season hopefully.
I hope so. They've definitely got a lot of hard work ahead, but i have a lot of faith in them being able to turn things around.Probably not over night, but I would bet they are going to be in the fight this season. Maybe at Australia.
I think it had to do with removing a handicap for the midfield cars that managed to squeeze into Q3 on softer tires, i.e., to improve the show. What was the reason for doing away with the rule that said in Q2 the tires you set your fastest time with would be the tires you start the race with?

Yep, basically it didn’t do what it was supposed to do since everyone on the top agreed on one tactic and the midfield were just punished for making it to Q3.I think it had to do with removing a handicap for the midfield cars that managed to squeeze into Q3 on softer tires, i.e., to improve the show.

So last year if Mercedes and Red Bull started on mediums they had an extra set of softs to use in the race but now they don't? Now everyone is going to be starting on softs.I think it had to do with removing a handicap for the midfield cars that managed to squeeze into Q3 on softer tires, i.e., to improve the show.
For this race the softs will probably be the preferred option to start on, but I imagine that will still vary from race to race; Austin last year was a prime example of when the soft was very much a tyre to avoid in race conditions...So last year if Mercedes and Red Bull started on mediums they had an extra set of softs to use in the race but now they don't? Also good news
And this week's lottery numbers are...I know all the years of Merc sandbagging and the memes make it hard to believe that they might actually struggle this season, or even this race, but from all the videos and analysis I've seen I can't help but think they might not be that great after all. You have Red Bull being quite fast, Ferrari having a competitive and relatively reliable time, but Mercedes can't merely sandbag and pretend to be slow when they are visibly struggling with the current package. Time will tell, after all.
Otherwise I think Haas might get an early jump on the midfield but taper off as the development race picks up. I also am very excited to see what happens with Mick and KMag. This will be the kind of test to see if Schumacher is the real deal, given that he generally made light work of a very average at best teammate.
That said, Alonso will win, comfortably.
So much for that fight with HamiltonNew team, new car, same Bottas.
