As reported last night, Super-sub Hulk was at Silverstone for the seat fitting at Racing point and is c19 negative.
So it's looking 99% on for this morning, just waiting for Fp1 to start in the sunshine.

Edit: Although, I've just read a report that Esteban told his discord audience that he wouldn't be streaming as he had to go to Silverstone, that was in the UKs 'Daily Express' though

CRASH premium are stating its Nico for the seat.
Theories are flying round that Checos clause in his contract suspiciously runs out imminently.

Been known for a little while his clause ends 31st July. They were talking about it at Hungary.

Yeah suspicious timing, inconclusive c19 test.
Sort out new driver, conclusive test, bomb him out, save a bundle.
Cynical? Me?

1st of all, his second test was positive, so nothing inconclusive.

Doesnt matter if he drives in silverstone or not, force India needs to pay him to leave and end his contract today. It’s just bad timing, nothing really suspicious..

Nah. First test was inconclusive so they tested again and it was positive. Nothing suspicious there. The only thing expected regarding the contract stuff was some sort of announcement be its him or Vettel or whatever.

Yeah, that's what I said, his 1st test was inconclusive or reported as such anyway, 2nd test was positive.

And here was me thinking that part-year contracts were a thing of the past...or the new F1 game.

He's a great kid. Keeps his feet on the ground and seems very level headed.
I interviewed him once. Actually I think it was last year, but my concept of time is broken. It was sort of a round-table thing, but another outlet (even though I was working for the venue/event's official channels) had a priority, and did a totally bizarre word association interview with him.

Anyway, I asked him about a few things, including sim racing, which seemed to come as a relief to him after that. Nice chap.

Edit: Yep, last year:

Thats amazing

Shout out to Nico being within 7 tenths of his team mate ready having never driven this car. Staggering. He also doesn't sound entirely comfortable in his seat.

As always, who you know is just as important as what you know.

"Nico knows the team a lot more than Esteban does and in that short period of time that we had between learning Checo couldn’t drive and someone driving, we had one day, it was key to get someone who understands the team," said Szafnauer.

"Nico has been with us a long time, so he knows the engineers, he’s been in our simulator before, he knows how we operate, and that’s going to be key to getting up to speed."

Grosjean, as usual, doing something wrong and complaining saying it's someone else's fault.
I didn't do it on purpose* he (Max) reacted so childish.

* Duh of course not. Imagine you did it on purpose... on the other hand it is 'just' a training session.

Man you really do have to feel for Albon. He’s out there driving a knife edge car that was probably designed around Max’s driving style with the threat of losing his seat bearing over him. His pace in FP2 was impressive considering all that. Hope he keeps that going despite the crash

The wind is very strong around the circuit, probably a crosswind at Stowe. The Red Bull has looked awful through Luffield all day. Albon's snap just looked like the wind caught the car out like it had been threatening to do to Max and Alex all day. How they're able to make it go fast I have no idea because it looks awful to drive at slow speed.

Not sure why Mercedes were off the pace in FP2, can anyone enlighten me. Were they caught in traffic on their soft laps or something?

Probably just not giving it full beans. They tend to drag their feet a bit in practise sessions, to make it look like they’re slower than they actually are. Most likely just running race setups and strategies. Shows their confidence in having qualifying in the bag when they won’t even bother running a qualy simulation. That, or they ran qualy runs and then backed off before the line so as to not set a lightning lap.

Both Merc drivers were not happy with balance with LH blaming the changeable winds.

The most Hulkenberg thing possible would be that he does manage to score a podium this week, but then Racing Point gets disqualified for illegal brake ducts and he loses the podium...

Another one to add to the "don't you dare make those ducts illegal" pile.
