I have watched the Road America clip about 20 times now. I just cannot believe how real it looks. I am so impressed.
As a Gran Turismo fan I have to say it looks awesome indeed!
I like the sense of speed (kind of miss that in GT5) and the way the environment looks (GT is too clean and saturated).
If only my G25 would be supported by Xbox, then I would definately buy one with Forza 4.

Please stop re posting these videos all over the place ><

He he. People will be sick of Autovista before the game has launched.

Unfortunately my iPhone doesn't show the Video until I click on it.
When I now see an Autovista I feel as though I've been Rick R'olled.

I prefer to see them for the first time on my TV rather than IPhone.

A lap around Road America.

Edit: Ah, I see it was posted in the other thread. Should have looked there first. Sorry. :)

I must say I HATE this wide field of view! It's THE cheapest and crappiest way to "enhance" sense of speed, worst of all that it's dynamic...Like in Burnout and Shift.

Let's hope you can disable it without damaging camera position. (like in FM3).

You can probably set your own FoV which makes it static. Like FM2 and FM3.

And I agree, the wide FoV just makes it look unnatural to me.

Really don't get what you mean. It's just a hood cam set low to the hood.

There's people spending big money to get a 3 screen set ups etc.
I think it's really good for a single screen TBH.

Not too sure what you meant by dynamic though.

Second best view after Cockpit.

Cockpit.
Hood
Bumper
Roof
Chase.

In that order for me at least.

Actually although I don't mind bumper, that is even cheesier. Lower to the ground increases sense of speed again.
I am probably quickest in this view though.

I dont get it either. Its a hood cam. Dynamic? Huh?

And yeah, nobody would want to "enhance" a sense of speed in a "racing" game right? How lame would that be....to get the sense of going fast. Totally retarded!

Calm down buddy, also you should not use that word around here, i'm sure its against the rules. I for one don't like when games pump up the since of speed. The hood Cam does look good, but the sense of speed looks to much in my opinion. I have no problem with that though I still will play the game.

Please explain how trying to capture a sense of speed is bad in a game. I just dont understand how the sense of speed looks "too much" when you going 100+ in a race car on a high speed track.

Compared to games where going 20mph, looks the same as going 200mph, I find disconnected.

I never said it was bad for a game, please reread my post. I said it looks over done IMO, It has no affect on me playing the game, I only use cockpit view when playing FM3/4.

Edit Re watching the video of the Vette the host was talking about "If there was going to be some lift at the kink" then I heard them laughing I could make out what they said. Was there lift or not?

I only use cockpit myself.

Let me rephrase my questions. How does an enhanced sense of speed look overdone in a race car going 100+mph on a high speed track?

I just really dont understand how simulating speed in a game is a bad thing.

Simulating speed in a racing game is a must for one, however some games tend to over do the sense of speed , some people like it some people don't. To me the video off the Vette looks a little over done. People say GT5 seems slow because there is a low sense of speed. IMO I think the sense of speed is just right. You might not agree, but that's life right? In the end I'm still buying the game and will enjoy it.

Ahhh. Ok. Yeah, I find GT5's speed to be non-existant. When I am in a fast car, I want to feel like I am. To me a simulation-type game should simulate actually racing a car, not just physics.

Its hard enough to simulate racing a car with no cockpit view, and from the front bumper of an invisible car.

Different strokes I guess. I just tend to think "enhance" and "speed" are good things in a race game lol.

I really like the wide FOV on the bumper cam in that video 👍

The main reason I usually avoid cockpit view in racing games is because the view you're given is far too narrow, and you don't have the same range of vision as you do when you're actually driving a car in real life. Combine that with developers usually cramming as much of the cockpit into view as possible and it really interferes with the awareness of other cars around you, in my opinion at least.

Bumper cam all the way :sly:

I am more for the immersion factor. Like I've previously said I am probably quicker in bumper view.

I AM quicker in S2 using the hood cam, but I refuse to use anything but helmet cam, because of the immersion.

Wider field of view makes you like watching through a "fish-eye". Objects in center of the screen moving slower than objects on the edges of the screen.

If you don't understand how FOV works - I can't explain it to you because of my bad English.

But wider field of view makes things look very unrealistic (however you can see more around you). I like GT for it's clarity in this subject.

And dynamic FOV is thing used in about all arcade racers. When you drive slow - FOV is staying normal, but when you accelerate FOV changing to more wide. As I've said above - that makes objects around you travel faster and creates effect of speeding up things. But it's just effect - in reality objects in game travels exactly the same, but this kind of view make it looks like they are going faster. This thing also make judging speed and distance harder, because it's not like we see in reality. All objects should move at same speed at any point of screen, or at least not changing dynamically. (I'm saying about view here!)

I've tried my best. :yuck: Sorry if you don't understand.
