Forza 4 Top Gear US Video: Real LFA versus Forza 4 LFA: On Infineon Raceway.

Thanks. The game looks really good, but they cant drive.

The hosts from TG"US" have like no personality. Very sad.

I laughed a bit at how those blokes didn't seem to be able to keep the LFA on the track if their lives depended on it, but hell, FM4 does look damn nice, doesn't it?

I don't know why they though they could beat Tanner in a race. He's a race car driver, they're not.

I can't believe that Tanner was so man-loved with the car. If it's anything like what it's portrayed in GT5 it's the biggest hunk of crap in my opinion. :(
I haven't driven it in Forza.

Cars look very "floaty" in the videos. Graphics look better, but for now I have not seen any improvement on physics.

Then you completely ignore all the people who have had hands on experience of the game and posted their thoughts ;)

You are playing a video game. And you are out of your mind.

Find me any automotive journalist, anywhere, who doesn't adore the LF-A.

I like how he just drifted around a bit the first 2 laps and then drove the wheels off the last lap and blew away Rutledge's Forza time.

I thought the LFA was great in GT5.

I have thought the same thing after watching many of the videos but my final opinion will be based on how the car feels when Im actually driving it and not just how it appears to feel in a video. Also, on that episode of Top Gear they were using what appeared to be every driving aid in the game which could have caused the floaty look..

Last time everyone said that Forza 3 physics were awesome after quick test but actual game was far from enjoyable simulator.
I hope this time it will be different.

You are talking about GT5 are you? If not sounds like it. Fm3 is the most enjoyable sim on consoles. Fact! How is grinding enjoyable? A rigid car cam? screentearing? No cockpits on the most awesome cars in game.... dont get me started...

To be fair he didn't say GT5 is "good".

But I'd have to disagree with the whole "Fact!" thing you've got going here. It's just something that's bugged me, even if it is used by someone I agree with.
It's still down to personal preference. Some people can tolerate the immense lack of polish and otherwise completely unfinished features just for the sake of having those features.

I, however, can't.

Well I thought Forza 3 is an immensely enjoyable simulator. I really have to wonder though how many people actually raced people in Forza 3 when I hear these comments. People act as if cars were on rails in races. I can assure you and anyone else who is reading these "opinions" that this is FAAAAAAR from the truth and couple that with intense racing it gets even better.

One thing I find common among these opinions is alot of people are pitting GT5 using a wheel to Forza 3 using a controller. WRONG. You can't make that comparison. Both games are completely different with different controls. So to even make a real comparison you must compare apples to apples not apples to oranges.

Those who do have a wheel for Forza and still say this I challenge them to have a race with the guys I race with.

Now can the physics get better, yes. But I'm not looking for it to be a GT5 clone. That would be a step backwards in my opinion. I'm looking for it to get closer to real. Like I said before. Real is in the middle and GT5 and Forza are on opposite sides of it and just about equidistant from it. I'm looking for Forza to get closer, that's progress. Not be a GT5 clone, that's just trading one almost real model for another, in my book a step backwards.

I played both with Fanatec turbo S. Forza is very good with controller though and it felt to me that main focus of physics and controls was not made for wheel user. I only hated the physics of forza 3, rest of the game was above GT5 in many factors.

Couple of screen grabs from the Top Gear (USA) Forza 4 "Beat Tanner" episode. These were taken on my iPad and uploaded to PhotoBucket; so, sorry for any degradation in quality.

And sorry for any pictures not being flipped to the horizontal axis. Photobucket is being difficult right now.

You must be the only guy on Earth to hold that opinion. I don't think anyone feels that way. Everyone, including myself, feels the exact opposite.

Nope, he's not the only one, and it's due to permanent steering aid

I see, so you prefer the control method that has more aids over the one that has less because the one that has less had an aid which happens to be the same aid the control method with more aids have?

Ok

I at least get frustrated if the games does some thing with car wheels that does not come from user inputs. With wheel, this can be easily seen. With PAD you do not know that this happens and to me this is better alternative out of two bad ones :)

What? You do know, bring up the telemetry and monitor the steering wheel graphic in the lower left hand corner; steering lock is filtered and does not in any way mirror the movements you make...especially when using a pad.

Good job they removed that from FM4 then with the Simulation Steering option then.

Finally, we added the “simulation steering” option. This option removes all of the controller aides. There were very few of these aides on the wheel controller, but there were several on the console controller. With these aides removed, you will no longer get help finding the right counter-steering angle. If you over-countersteer (meaning you overcorrect by steering into the angle of the slide), the wheels do as commanded. This usually results in a wicked tank-slapper. Also, initial turn-in is direct and linear. This can feel very twitchy. When you command the game to go lock to lock-to-lock, it assumes you mean it and lets you live with the consequences.

As you can see, much more steering help with a pad than with a wheel. It never ceases to amaze me how much bull is spoken on these forums that has absolutely no basis in trurh. In fact I'd goes as far to say that I think 90% of internet flame wars are started by misinformation.

Ok

Unfortunately, the buffer is present with both control methods.
