I don't think Forza 5 looks much better than GT6 though. The cars in GT6 look more photo realistic, you can tell the cars in Forza 5 are in a video game more than you can in GT6.

But to really know for sure, we will have to see some GT6 vs Real Life and Forza 5 vs Real Life photos to make an accurate judgment.

Stop comparing it against the original promo photos for FM5. They had an obvious artistic filter on them. If you look at any of the gameplay photos, you'd see that it's just not true.

Framerate directly influences playability.

I won't sit through GT6 if a full grid in the rain turns into a slideshow.

There is more to playability than graphics. The best place to see this is in flight sims, the game Aces High has graphics for a few planes that are pre 2000 mixed with newer ones up to today's standards. Its a small company that focuses on game play and the flight model of each individual aircaft and vehicle in game. Then there's war thunder, a game that looks absolutely incredible. Problem with that game is that the flight models of the planes are practically the same and others are so over modeled it's ridiculous. It's basically good looking turd to anyone that has a clue about WWII aircraft.

Did GT5 have better graphics than Forza4, yea but the playability and enjoyment of GT5 was near zero compared to FM4 for me. Graphics aren't the end all be all of which is the better game.

This.

I would prefer GT to tone the graphics down considering there is great framerate issues with one car on track. This directly impacts playability.

big gt fan here, I have seen in the current gen hardware Forza has been pulling bigger improvements in a much quicker time. Anyways sony should scrap GT6 long time ago and focused soley on what GT6 can do on PS4 hardware as a launch title, then developed GT6 with DLC along the way.

graphics arent everything, and right now the ps3 is a really out dated machine, I honestly cant stand seeing a next gen title compare to a current gen.

This x10000000 :)👍

I've watched a lot of forza gameplay, it is more attractive (It's more cororful than the bland colors of GT5)and there are some features that are not gameplay, but are more enjoyable with Gran Turismo, like the livey editor and deeper customization options more dedicated drifting

The sad thing is that current gen can still do amazing things. A system will really only show its true potential towards the end of its life cycle. The PS3 was a pain to develop for from what we have heard, which explains the lengthy development cycles.

Regardless of what issues it may have, I still think GT6 on the PS3 was a good choice. Not everyone will go out and buy a brand new system for one game. As far as comparing an old gen game with a new gen game, lets not jump to conclusions until they are both available to play. Just because a game is on a new gen machine, doesn't automatically make it better. 👍

This x10. 👍 I also think putting GT6 on the PS3 was a good choice, and agree with everything you said shawtyoner. :) That's why I thought GT6 on PS4 would have been a good idea, I believe it'll may struggle a bit. Like you said, not everyone will go and buy a console for one game. I want to see what theses two games can do, and not assume one game on a stronger console is automatically better than the other.

When people started talking about the PS4 and we hadn't heard anything about GT6 yet, I was concerned it was going to be a PS4 title we'd see in the year 2018. I think sticking to the pattern (two games per console) and polishing the PS3-oriented code they've already laid down was the best decision PD could make.

Haha. Honestly I also thought GT6 was going to be on PS4, but get released in 6 years. Really glad PD decided to stick with two GTs per console. :)

Damn straight!

Doubt if the T10 guys would have been able to pull off Forza 4 if they had to do it on a PS3.

Hope Sony has learned their lesson and made the PS4 more programmer/dev friendly.

From what I've heard they have actually made the system more developer friendly this time around.

I don't believe GT is held back by hardware but by the actual teem behind it.. GT can have a mod nation styled track creator, can have a event maker, can have a livery editor, could have more varied customization ,could have so many a spec events and the ps3's not to blame in any way..

You must develop a lot of games to be making assumptions like that.

Other than the track creator part those are all things that have appeared frequent this generation(livery editor/customization) or are simply design choices(like spec events and an event maker).

Granted most of those games aren't near the scope of any GT game, but a livery editor and greater customizing, even if it was just premiums, wouldn't be impossible based on what other games as well as PD have done in the past.

Asking for more spec events and an event creator isn't that insane either as they pretty much have the architecture for both already, they would just need to add some events to complete one and allow users to change variables for an arcade race.

(I know these things are easier said than done, than again PD has a building full of people who know how to do these things)

Well, I think I'm going to have a hard time choosing this time, whether it's going to be the PS4 or Xbox 1. Don't want to miss out on FM5...

The ONLY reason behind PD half-assing it with GT5 is Kaz's vision. GT can be among the best sims ever released on a console. It is simply held back by vision and innovation. Unlike Turn 10.

I've been driving on GT since I was a young man but, the more I read about Forza the more I want to branch out and become a two system home. I was prepared to purchase a PS4 to run GT6. Why do I have to chose one?

If you're smart and if you've got the disposable income, I don't think you should ever limit yourself in a situation like this. It's fine and natural to have a bias, but to perpetuate it without knowing why you have it is unfortunate.

Before GT5, I was a Forza-only player. I got pretty tired of such a single-track racing experience (meaning only owning and playing games from one of the two franchises), so I decided about a year after GT5's release that it was the right time to branch out. Now I can articulate what I like and dislike about both franchises, what I think one could learn from the other and I've become richer for the experience.

But GT5 was a "placeholder" for GT6.

Best comment on this thread. Please no need to attack me but I remember all the hype surrounding Gt5 while we waiting years for it. GT5 was a big let down in my opinion. The game was fun a great i'm not saying it wasn't, but Forza seems to consistantly beat out GT.

I own both GT5 and Forza 4 so yes I have played them both. The whole standard and premium car thing is stupid in my opinion. Cars sound like crap in GT and AI's are a joke. Forza just always seems more intense, more exciting.

Another thing is, I feel PD should have skipped the PS3 and released on the PS4, even if it were to take more time. Do things the right way the first time.

Tell me about it. I think the GT5 E3 2009 & 2010 and TGS 2010 trailers were some of the biggest culprits. I remember getting so excited when I first saw them.

PD was like, "Oh look! GT5 will have Top Gear, The Stig, Supert GT, NASCAR, WRC, weather, night racing, blah, blah, blah!!!"

Then you finally get the game and see these things were barely put to use... :dunce:

After that massive disappointment, it was very easy for me not to get excited during the GT6 E3 trailer. They are never getting me hyped up again. 👎

I also would have liked to see what GT6 could have been like if we're a PS4 game. I'm glad it's coming to PS3. Less money to spend in order to play it, but on the other hand, I wouldn't have really mind seeing it on the PS4.
