And? It's obvious you haven't actually seen it in person because the game is unequivocally next-gen.The production version is nowhere near as good looking as the E3 build, as has been posted all over.

I'm hoping it's a case of wait until you see both games moving at 1080p/60fps rather than judging based on compressed 30fps YouTube video like that guy.It looks nothing like last gen.
Good thing he didn't say that.It looks nothing like last gen.
He didn't?Good thing he didn't say that.
He even put it in italics.I don't doubt that. Launch titles always look pretty previous gen

Either way, we're moving down the path of diminishing returns in computer graphics.

I think he makes a fair point. Yes, there will always be room for improvement, but don't expect to see the same kind of graphical leaps we've seen from previous gens. To this day, the biggest graphical jump I have ever seen was the first time I played GT3. There have been just a few contenders ever since, but none of them truly compare. Is that the excuse now ? It seems every year I hear the same argument and yet there is plenty of room for improvement on that aspect. when I look at GT6 vs Forza 5 (i know its not fair), it easy to see.
Don't forget the last generation required people to change to HDTVs causing an immediate leap in graphical quality. Better graphics are nice and all but it's the Drivatars and improved handling which are the biggest draw for me.I think he makes a fair point. Then tell me what he meant by "Launch titles always look pretty previous gen"
Well my expectations for GT6 went downhill the more and more i read about it before release, but having spend an evening on the forum now on day one of release; i'm wondering if we should change the thread title to FM4 vs GT6.
Microtransactions: GT6
Though with these arguments basically devolving into people pretending that the "other side" is the problem since both games released (such as here and here), I'm not surprised that his post was read as an attempt to denigrate Forza 5 when it just seems continuation of a discussion already occurring to me.
I think FM4 vs FM5 is the bigger kicker. GT6 is even worse than GT5 when I last played it from what I've played of it so far; or at the very least no better. Maybe when all those "placeholders" get taken care of. Eventually.
You are me except i jumped ship half a year earlierI'm a fanboy of good racing games. I had a longer winded post but cut it to this.
There are things i like and don't like about all of them. Been playing GT since Day 1 on PS1, always thought GT was better. GT4 sound made me sad and GT5 just made me scratch my head and stopped playing it a year ago because it just wasn't fun.
Got FM4 in January and wanted to punch myself in the face for not jumping ship earlier.

Still waiting for that Xbone to drop in price tough (and if i'm lucky maybe by then FM6 will be ready).
I do find it sad how GT is a mere shadow of it's former self nowadays...
I can hold off on my inner kid for now; he would have also told me today "ah what the heck, just go to the store and pick up GT6 it's only 60 bucks"... Luckily i didn't listen to that impulsive little brat
I pre-ordered the LCE the day it was annouced and put it on the cheapest shipping possible because i figured I'd wait a month or two before getting an Xbox one to let them work out any problems. I then went to the ALMS/WEC race at the Circuit of The Americas and had plenty of time to race around Laguna Seca at the demo they had setup. The thought of pre-ordering a system crossed my mind but i held off. The day Xbox One released I drove by a store and the line was short and my inner kid got the best of me and i picked it up. The next day I was expecting FM5 to show up until i realized i had it on snail mail. So i looked at my xbox one for a full week before it got here lol.
As for GT I feel the same, it use to be like Christmas each release and this one i haven't even looked at anything on it.
Or sound! Or customization! Or car selection (it's more than just a numbers game)!A shame that they don't went a bit more far showing the light and weather changes.
Oh, I know. I was lucky enough to have an HDTV shortly after they came out - It was a CRT HDTV if you can believe that! But a lot of what HDTV was able to do was just make things look sharper (initially). I was quick to adopt things like S-Video so it wasn't a massive update for me.Don't forget the last generation required people to change to HDTVs causing an immediate leap in graphical quality. Better graphics are nice and all but it's the Drivatars and improved handling which are the biggest draw for me.
That kind of seals the deal for me. GT has always felt sterile in it's driving dynamics and it sounds like the trend continues. Certain parts of it I really like, but now that FM has captured that (such as quick turn in feel), GT doesn't leave much on the table other than its heritage.I've now played my anniversary copy of GT6.
So much for improved physics. You can throw the 540hp XKRS like a ragdoll without it getting away from you, lift-off oversteer doesn't exist and power oversteer is so fleeting it's hard to capture it in photomode.
If you want to drive smooth, then it'll do that just fine, but when you get into the realms of driving dynamics, it's stone age stuff compared to Forza 5. Try to drive the S2000 like the Jag in GT6 and you'll be off the road backwards immediately.
Not exactly; only the PS4 and XBone require an HDMI plug-in.Don't forget the last generation required people to change to HDTVs causing an immediate leap in graphical quality.
I agree, at this point the thing to do with extra power is add incremental details and elements (ie. foliage, particles, number of players/AI/vehicles etc.) and focus on fleshing out these HD worlds with more interactive/physics-driven stuff to do. The wild chase to eliminate visible polygons and texture pixels (gasp! horror!) has made producing games with a "realistic" aesthetic ridiculously expensive and laborious already....I think people are expecting graphics so good that you can't tell the difference between game and real world video. I don't see it ever getting to that point. Major jumps now will be in things like player numbers in a game, interactive surroundings way beyond BF4...
Thanks for this; given my experience with GT games the bold bit is particularly telling. 👍 I'm still going to give the game a whirl (gotta try that moon mission), but I won't hold my breath for it being worth acquiring a PS3.I've now played my anniversary copy of GT6.

It looks like every single flaw from GT5 remains apart from the menus + in some aspects it's even worse; the graphics are darker (cockpits included) and more blurry, the framerate is dropping, the rabbit seems to slow down now in the last lap in order for you to catch up making the races even more artificial, etcetera etcetera
No to be honest i just joined and haven't seen or read anything about GT6 so far, i've also never played the franchise just trolling hereIt looks like you are cherry picking forum posts, and haven't actually seen GT6.

On the other hand i see you cherry picking forum posts being a PD apologist and GT fanboy everywhere
Your devotion to microsoft is very cute
