Ah yes, classic Forza DLC trolling. I wonder, if we started a protest of the preorder DLC bull by convincing people not to preorder the game, would they give in and make those cars available to everyone, as they should in the first place?

The 360 version is being developed by Sumo Digital. Am I the only one here who hasn't heard of that dev studio?

When it comes to multi-platform titles, I've elected the PC as my go-to choice for this generation. However, I am considering buying at least one of the consoles in order to play some of the great racing exclusives coming to them.

I have to say that I'm currently leaning towards Xbox One, because Forza Horizon 2 is looking like a proper sequel to a game I thoroughly enjoyed. The Southern Europe setting was a perfect choice, in my opinion, and has an enormous potential if done right. I'm loving the fact that there is much more true freedom in this new location, with no unnecessary barriers. It's great to finally see weather and day-night cycles in the same game, making the environment more believable and complete. The handling of the cars, in that sweet spot between simulation and basic, reminds me of the original Horizon (most likely better), which I find excellent. 200 of some of the most accurately modeled cars to choose from. There's nothing, so far, about this game that doesn't look good, even the drivatar system which makes me reluctant about Forza 5 seems to have finally found a game for which it's more suited.

I haven't either. But the 360 version will be using the Horizon 1 engine, so I'm not too worried.

get

Please don't take this too seriously

died! :dopey:

Wait what? When did they confirm the 360 wont have weather or are you just guessing? That trailer looked very good but its also CGI.
It seems heavily implied by the Commentary vids.
IGN- And now we are seeing the weather kick in. Long requested feature in the Forza series.

Dev - First time in Forza, yeah. And it's something we felt we just had to include (something) to game's open world nature & Southern Europe, and really change up the gameplay speed. Not only does it look really next-gen. beautiful, it is also absolutely changing the handling experience we've got right now. You can see it in the visuals, the road, the reflections, the spray. Um, I think it's a great new addition to the game.

IGN - So, talk to me a little bit more about the weather. I mean, is it, uh, you know, is it gonna rain at certain times, is it fully dynamic, (meme joke about double rainbow).

Dev - Yeah, absolutely. So it's a completely dynamic system and really, thanks to the power of Xbox One, we are able to, um, accurately model the way the atmosphere works, it actually works in real life. Based on the level of particles in the atmosphere. Actually what determines the way light scatters through it, the way that rainbow formed, that happens in a completely mathematical way. Um and yeah, the game will basically determine what kind of atmosphere conditions we have, when it's gonna rain, when you'll see wind & mist.

^ Thanks for the info. There is no way I will even consider Horizon 2 for the 360 without weather. After the announcement of "Master Chief Collection" it looks like I will be getting the X1 by the end of the year anyway.

Like I said, the game is being developed by a different developer & still running the Horizon 1 engine. It's just like how TDU was when it was developed. Not sure what you were expecting. :indiff:

It baffles me that Polyphony could manage Day/Night and weather on the less powerful hardware but T 10 can't be bothered with it until now and STILL not on the 360, which is more powerful.

Ignoring that it's you, how is this trolling? The 3 cars are already in the game as stock models. The Pre-Order cars are nothing more than tuned versions.

I believe as others have pointed out, the frame rate is the biggest issue. T10 wanted a consistent rate across the board whilst I've seen people post about the rate dropping when the weather comes in for GT.

No. I do know them, though, and their racing portofolio includes things like OutRun 2 home versions and Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed, so they know a thing or two about fun arcade racing.

But Since they're going for 1080p 30fps locked on more powereful hardware vs. 1080p 60fps on weaker hardware, should give it at least some headroom. Hell, downgrade it to 720p too. It was never going to look as good as the XOne version anyway.

To be honest, it doesn't bother me if PD accomplished more or not in this field. There were far more important things needing attending to than the graphics. The series died for me after 5 because of the god-awful car sounds.

That's what I'm saying: I'd take a graphical hit as long as the 360 version plays just the XOne version. I don't like knowing one game port has more things to experience than my port does.

Like Mclaren, from what I heard, there were lots of frame rate drops when those things where introduced into your race. From what it sounds like, I would hardly call that managing.

Either way, its hard to say why its not on the 360, even with a lower framerate. Especially with one being a locked lapped course(GT), and the other being a free roam world map(horizon). One is probably going to be putting more load on the hardware, and I would imagine it being the open world game.

I wonder what other the other differences are between 360 and One

@McLaren do you mean literally modified versions of cars already in the game, or higher-line models of other cars (example M3 GTR when there's already a normal M3)?
Yes. If you had bothered to watch the trailer, you'd have seen that. The 3 cars are the Challenger SRT8, Fiesta ST, A45 AMG. They have exclusive tunes & paintjobs on them; the body modifications will most likely be available to the regular cars.

With the option to turn on mechanical damage being included for those who want it, it's just possible the FM5 handling model without aids is going to be there too.

We can but hope. Having to navigate these roads with the same care you have to give Bathurst and no doubt the Ring is going to be an epic amount of fun.

Did anybody find videos with ingame sounds yet? Those IGN vids are voiced over and I can barely hear the audio.

It will come down to whether the quality of the effect they can achieve is acceptable to them. FH1 already has day night. Sure, GT6 has rain but as far as graphical representations go it's pretty basic, and it comes with a sizeable hit to the frame rate.

They could throw in a basic implementation if they wanted, but it'd probably be worse than nothing because it would spoil the immersion. Nobody wants to see cartoon rain in this lovely open world setting. Whether they can optimise enough to get a decent looking weather system on 360 will be interesting to see.

It's probably possible, GTAV does well enough. We'll have to wait and see.

I still feel that, despite the poor resolution, GT5 has had by far the best rain effects. FH2 looks pretty damn good though, much better than Project Cars (rain effects, I mean)
