I will say, having personally driven on the Amalfi Coast of Italy in real life, the roads are way, waaaay to wide. But some concessions must be made for gameplay....I suppose.
 
How you made all that out from a single trailer is beyond me. They're not going to show you the entire game at E3 when it's not out until September!
The thing the would do the most is show as much of the game as they can, Horizon one showed Canyon play, highway drives and a bit of variety, something that seems lacking on this, Monaco is cool, tad of Tuscany is cool, but it stops there, and the gameplay showcase doesn't help much either.

I love the first Horizon, but this trying to take on The Crew is just ... silly.

"Open world environments" they seems to announce while having a shoot to The Crew's gameplay is just damaging what the game is by having the Hurracan off roading, sure they can take shots at DC it being a very limited restrictive experience and I can understand that, but they comparing themselves to a game that has a :censored:ing continent modelled is just silly. That's the message I got from it, and while I love the location I'll just pass, southern Europe leaves a lot to be desired.

I'm fairly confident there is much more to see. They spoke about the Alps in one of the interviews. So if you have the Alps, Tuscany, and the Mediterranean Coast...that is a properly diverse geography. Perhaps we might even get southern Spain for true desert.
 
Yes. If you had bothered to watch the trailer, you'd have seen that. The 3 cars are the Challenger SRT8, Fiesta ST, A45 AMG. They have exclusive tunes & paintjobs on them; the body modifications will most likely be available to the regular cars.

Good on that, then.

Previous Forza titles have had absolutely outrageous pre-order DLC schemes that did hold back legitmately different cars for pre-order players, plus the older Horizon had five SP exclusives which were also unique.

Maybe they're finally done pulling that kind of thing.

You don't appear to be at all aware that IGN has exclusivity with the game; they'll be covering it all month.

And when have they ever implied, motioned, or hinted that The Crew is what they're eying as competition? For one, they're not releasing the same month (not to mention doing so would conflict with The Master Chief Collection that also releases in November), secondly I'm pretty sure, if anything, Driveclub would be their direct competition. I mean, for all intents and purposes, The Crew isn't even the same type of game the two of them are.

And how can improving the game relative to legitimate gripes for the original in any way be construed as them taking potshots at a game that, again, they've neither hinted, motioned, or even implied as competition? You're just wildly grasping at straws by the looks of things.

This isn't unique to Forza. Several companies do this; it's called incentive. Everything from guns to map packs are used as incentives to get people to Pre-Order. They don't hold anything back, rather they reward people for choosing to leave their money on the table before even touching the game. And most of the time, all it costs you is $5 as the minimum required to Pre-Order.

Secondly, iirc, they did this with FM5 when you pre-ordered as well: TT-RS, Focus ST, & the Superleggera.

First, IGN has exclusivity over showing the game, not restricting the showcase of it's content.

First jab at DriveClub (@1:28, going about clubs of a thousand members, a clear jab to DC), second jabs (@1:45/3:25, going on about Road tripping and open worldness) to The Crew.

Not grasping at straws when they showcase a Lambo going off-roading in a random field, when basically The Crew showed exactly the same, they are both open world racing games and even with a month of difference between releases the games are far too similar, all pretensions of simulations are lost when they show an exotic car going offroading and everything is going sideways.

I honestly really liked the first Horizon and I honestly expected this to be a more realistic approach to the concept, instead what is shown is what basically The Crew showed, only in a smaller scale (and granted) prettier graphics.


Having to choose between the 3 games I'll just go with the one that seems more complete, basically they are releasing an arcade racing game, which is what Forza Horizon 2, DC and The Crew are. I can hardly see Forza Horizon being it's own type of game while there is stuff like Test Drive Unlimited doing the same type of thing. First Horizon kinda shake up the formula and I liked for that, but now is basically the same game in other setting, which in itself is not bad but is not as impressing when something like The Crew is showcased.

Call it potshots if you want but I was excited for it and now I'm detracting from it. I was like "cool, Monaco, northern Italy and maybe Corsica", but all I saw was Rally di Positano open world, and that wont cut it for me having stuff like Stelvio Pass being possible within it's realm.
 
It is holding something back, and I have seen it used to sucker people into paying full price for a cruddy game before the word can get out, though I would never name names. Oh wait, yes I would. EA. Slighly Mad Studios. Shift2 Unleashed. I blew $60 on that miserable game because I knew I'd buy it eventually and wanted to have the limited edition cars when I did. But even if the game turns out to be good, it's still a rather devious tactic, and I think there should be no such exculsive pre-order content - just cosmetic exclusives such as this.
 
Ralph also remarked about the game's car count being over 200 as well, was that also a "clear jab" at Driveclub?
It has nothing to do with it, not saying that "cars have four wheels" is a jab at "x" racing game. But when they make a statement saying "We can make clubs of over one thousand members, socially connected and bla bla bla" is essentially taking the piss at the 6 members per club limitations on DC.

So there is that as well, sorry for not liking what I saw :rolleyes:

Or...they don't give two 🤬 what Driveclub is doing and only promoting the fact that you could have more club members vs. the 100 we got in FH1. And unless there are Cop chases and Full Dakar-style modifications on cars, The Crew is not even in the same genre let alone competition.
 
Gameplay video.

Looks pretty and sounds good but it's just disappointing the all of the corners don't require braking with these physics and any tight corners are just bypassed by going off road.

The road the Huracan is on at he start is wasted as it's too wide and the cars are too grippy to make it technical and challenging. It's just turned it to sweepers with either a lift or the slightest dab of the brakes needed.
 
I'm sure the festival event tracks will have tight and technical corners as in the first game. This E3 demo seems like a street race.

It's a business tactic & an effective one at that now-a-days by offering incentives as rewards for early purchases. But, you live so far in the past (as evident by the Automotive forums) that of course, you don't see or recognize this.

Wait, how is mentioning a thousand club members a jab at DriveClub? You do realize clubs in racing games date back to Test Drive Unlimited right? Has DriveClub even announced how many members are allowed in each club?

"The road trip of your life" isn't in any way a jab. It's a phrase said to incite hype. You could link it to The Crew (since it claims it takes 90 minutes to drive coast-to-coast), but it's incredibly far stretch.

"Open Worldness" however, is clearly in reference to the game no longer having barriers. You're definitely grasping at straws here.

The Crew have never showed a trailer showcasing a Lambo going off-roading. If you're referring to the 2014 Coast-to-Coast trailer where they showcase what looks to be an off-road equipped Cayman, then wow, you are definitely grasping at straws. God forbid anyone ever show a supercar off roading ever again from this point.

And The Crew is basically a Need For Speed jab by your logic; same crazy missions implied (tipping a security car), same insane modifications, same open world freedom.

It's not potshots. It's you making up the silliest link from 1 game to another as proof Horizon completely rips off The Crew. Because there's absolutely nothing in both games you can't link to past racing games, right?
 
I'm just hoping the map contains lots of tight exciting corners as well as the sweeping ones. Hoping for a decent mix of both 👍
 
Having destructible environments in a game like this kind of defeats the purpose. That scenery looks far too pretty to destroy.
