i must stop

I'm in disbelief at the audacity of this Forzathon thing. I'm not that passionate about the S14 myself, but it's a straight up "🤬 you" to the fans to not only bring back unicorns at all, but lead it off this way.

I find it quite hilarious to be honest. Such a trollish move that ranks up there with the Duke O' Death instantly blowing up if you glitched one into GTA Online way back.
I could personally care less for the S14. It'd be nice to have, yes, but I wouldn't lose any sleep over it if I didn't get it.

Uh oh.

Because the, oh so spectacular, S14 is the most wanted car (for whatever reason) in Forza and many who pleads for such a car will do whatever it takes to obtain it, this simply gives PG/T10 more reasons to continue making iconic cars into unicorns especially for trolling purposes. :nervous:

Pfft, doesn't effect most of us. :sly: Ahh well, at least the Opel Manta 400 isn't a uni...oh wait!!

Honestly, I don't see what the fuss is about (yet). We don't know how easy or hard it will be to collect (I'm going to guess fairly easy, since it'll only be two weeks into the game's release). We don't know how often the car will be made available to win, either.

It's really not much different to having one-time prize cars. The Nismo 400R was locked away being all golds in the top license in GT1, for example.

I'm not a big fan of unicorns either, but that's only when they're tied to things only hardcore players would know about (like Community Bounty Hunter against one of T10's fastest). If it's as simple as, say, hitting a target speed or something along those lines, I won't be too fussed.

I guess I'm alone in saying that I don't really mind the unicorns. Well, that is as long as they aren't horrendously difficult like the Vantage was. I would imagine since it's such a highly requested car they would make a challenge that's easy to do, or just give them out just for participating like they've done with the Huracan and the two Fords.

It doesn't matter how easy the events are; you may permanently miss out on cars just because you weren't playing the game at a specified time. It's up to T10/PG to distribute playable cars however they want, but I think it's a pointlessly punitive idea.

I concede that we lack some details. If Forzathon revolves through all of its prize cars continuously for as long as the online is kept going, then it won't be as bad as unicorns were, but I still don't think you should have to jump through online hoops just to unlock cars in a singleplayer game. That Nismo 400R in GT1 is always there, even 19 years later; it might be more challenging to obtain compared to a Forzathon car, but there's no arbitrary requirement to play the game in a specific timeframe.

Maybe they'll do a seasonal-style menu where new challenges are added and old ones are greyed put until they're playable agan (maybe with a timer too). Just a simple menu should do it, I mean, they can't have made THAT many unicorns.

Right?
EDIT: a thought occured to me that it would be messed up if T10/PG tied the Tolken system to it for impatient players who don't want to wait for the event to be made available again. Star Trek: Trexels Nightmare. :ill:

just watched the gamescon live stream and believe I spotted a Mazda RX7 FD at 19:57 In the video.
What I want to know is what is Upgrade Heroes?
When he is looking at his RB 240 when he goes to back there is a tuning icon on the right exhaust tip, can we finally change the tips now?!?!?!?! :D

I think people are forgetting that unicorns didn't used to have events. Forget difficulty, you had to either fight it out with the scammers in the auction house or win a T10 competition.

Fair enough. In an age where the online aspect of games becomes increasingly important, it's an issue more developers will have to consider. I too think it's unfortunate when cars become off-limits permanently — like any of the unicorns in the 360-era games now — but as @GroupB just mentioned, this is definitely a step up from the incredibly specific methods used back then.

True, although for the average gamer, I'm not sure which is worse: cars stuck behind incredibly difficult barriers, or ones stuck behind time-based ones.

FWIW, the behind-closed-doors video shows a "Forzathon Sales" option in the menu. I'm wondering if the prizes may be offered as purchasable items after an event, though at a heavy mark-up. That'd do a lot towards fixing the situation, IMO.

Irrelevant considering we just had two games without unicorns at all, which is better than what we have now.

Disagree on both points.
I'm glad unicorns are back and I'm glad they're easier to get than at any point in Forza series history. The only way I got mine in previous games was through the mercy of random T10 giveaways.

To me any cars that are unicorns are cars that could be in the game for me to access any time. If you want to reward people, give them decent credit payouts.

But credits are already pretty much raining from the sky; I mean, I've been playing FM6 for only 2 months and I've already stacked up 50 millions, something I could probably achieve in 10 years time in FM3/4...

I think it's fun to get an extra incentive like an exclusive car when you complete a challenge or a competition, providing of course it's not near impossible to complete.

But for those that don't? Why should they miss out?

Agreed. Forza Rewards were a knee-jerk reaction to the outcry over the FM5 token system. Overnight, in-game money in the Forza franchise changed from grind it out to excessively easy.
Whether or not that's a positive change depends on the player, but like the passage of a law, there's probably no going back.

It's a bit like the lottery. If you didn't buy yourself a Powerball ticket, you don't get the money. If you don't participate in Forzathon or whichever other contest they're thinking of, you don't get the car.
