It's a bit like the lottery. If you didn't buy yourself a Powerball ticket, you don't get the money. If you don't participate in Forzathon or whichever other contest they're thinking of, you don't get the car.
Which is totally unfair to those who simply have no interest in these events at all but are still really into the game and cars in general. At the end of the day it's simply holding back content to deliver it as a prize to some players. Waste of modelling and a kick in the butt to faithful players who want to access the car with the normal ease.

Case in point, I had to get Live($10.95AUD) to participate, in order to get the Escort and Falcon. If they were available to buy, I could have saved a potential $7AUD by paying for the Falcon alone(possible $3.95AUD).

Welcome to a real world scenario, then. If you want something held behind a contest, you'll have to enter to win it.

Charging a unicorn for money instead of winning it takes a major toll on even holding competitions in the first place because there's no sense of accomplishment. The only way that works if the unicorn gets released on the marketplace a month or so well after it's been won. But, I'm sure folks will complain and not want to actually wait for that solution either.

As another member pointed out, be thankful you even have a fair chance to win them as everyone else. Before, it was nigh impossible and the auction house would require you to be a hacker to even afford them.

If you need to win an exclusive car in order to feel accomplishment playing this game I have to question why you're even playing it.

Meanwhile, others go without the content for some peoples 'accomplishment'.

Then continue to be lazy. Some people put a lot of time into turning in fast laps and feel good knowing they're quick. The point of the unicorns is to reward players for their efforts in competitions. Most of them seem to reward you for even participating. This isn't some revolutionary new thing in video games, either.

This kind of complaint just wants a hand out. If you can't make the competition, you don't get the rewards. It's an easy concept to grasp.

I've said all I can on this. It's clear we just won't agree considering you find my viewpoint 'lazy'.

I suggested an alternative, but you conveniently cut that out....

You're asking to remove the effort to win the unicorn and just make it available for everyone. Takes out the point of competing when there's no prize.

"The only way that works if the unicorn gets released on themarketplace a month or so well after it's been won."
If it did that would be better than nothing. But I'd still prefer that unicorns died again. Fm5 and fh2 managed to be satisfying games enough without them.

Just some more opinions regarding the unicorn car argument:

First: there is no right, wrong or lazy way to play a game, when it comes to private, single-player use of the game. There are only different ways to enjoy a game.

Second: Nothing in a game should be restricted in such a manner that it forces the person to play the game when they might not want to play it or might not be able to play it. Such is the case with the Horizon 3 unicorn prize-cars which are only attainable on specific time periods. The developers need to consider that there may be people who are often busy and may have little time to play their games. One thing is regular progression, which is done at the pace each person wants to do or can do, another is an event which you have to play on X time or you miss it. Imagine going on a holiday on that date and there's no way you can play the game. Imagine having more important tasks to take care of in those days. You may miss the opportunity to get that prize for good. They do say that there will be additional events for popular prizes, but what if you like the less popular prize and you miss it? You might say "Oh well, it's life. Win some, lose some". I say we all already play a game with that unique feature, it's called real-life, and not everything that happens in real-life is worth adapting into our entertainment because, then, it stops being entertainment and then it's just real-life.

Third: The older I become, the less I care about the concept of in-game exclusivity. Feeling special because you have a virtual item no one else has should be something you eventually outgrow as a gamer.

Another major disadvantage about unicorns is that they may require Xbox Live Gold if rewarded for participation in a multiplayer event. People who don't subscribe to that service but desperately want a unicorn could be faced with the most expensive DLC ever.

Or just ask around for a 2 day trial. It's not rocket science.

So going off BADNED's/Slips list we are at 317 cars confirmed, including DLC. Take away the Motorsport/VIP cars as they don't count towards the final 350 and we're at 302. From the Gamescom Video, we can see that the amount of eligible autoshow cars for the 'anything goes' blueprint category was at 348. This doesn't include barnfinds, so if we have 10 barn finds again then the list goes up to 56 yet to be announced cars.

So barring a huge launch day free car pack like FH2's, we are at 56 unannounced cars with 3/4 weeks of car announces left. Will be interesting to see what makes it and what doesn't.

Hey guys i have a question... I want to max my Rewards points in the other Forzas like 3, 4 and the first Horizon, except i don't have my saves anymore since i'm going to do it on a friend's console.

Can i get the miles driven and the achievements anyway? Thanks for the info.

As there isn't a 360 version of the game this time, we wont have that small selection of cars that start off as 360 exclusives that eventually find their way into the One version per Car Pack.

shame in a way as I actually kind of enjoyed trying to predict which one would be next.
