Given the apparant cash flow this brings with it, I'm a bit skeptical it will shorten game longevity.

Besides dat castle...

The "top" designs are just a product of good timing. Slap together a Monster livery on or before release day on all the popular cars (or just immediately import them from previous games) and they'll be recommended until the end of time because new designs that are late to the game aren't shown to the players at all.

A full search of any user created content will only ever return 252 results sorted by popularity alone.
Neither are tunes.
I probably got 1k downloads in FM7, 1(one) so far in FH4

Has anyone ever built a car that is RWD for offroading? I do like some 4WD rallying, but sometimes I like alittle challenge. Not trying to boast, just curious to know if anybody here has built one for rallying besides me. :)

However, stating the obvious here, AVOID driving them in winter season. It's not easy.

I'm planning to share these builds under the name "Dirt Spec" once I'm comfortable with them, and trust my cars to handle well for the people. I also have other builds if anyone wants to check out. It's not alot, but I'm still experimenting with each car I build.

Yep, I built an Escort RS1800 specifically for rallying, built for B class with about 220hp.

Actually used the Capri as well for some dirt racing with no AWD swap. Just make sure you use the proper tires.

Made an A-class rally tune with the Capri, putting out maybe 340hp? It's good fun.

Anyone else notice that right on the season change they put the Twin Mill on the Forzathon shop instead of the Boneshaker?

I grabbed a couple for investment purposes.

Yeah noticed it around half an hour after the season change. I wonder why.

Already had it from the races last week, so I left it be, and I think after another half hour, it changed to the Bone Shaker.

Interesting! I had the same Escort as you before bringing it to A-class. But in B-class, it's super enjoyable to throw that tail out in every corner on the dirt. 👍

Haha, same! 👍
The Ken Block Escort is pretty cool. Not big on the whole Monster Energy style, but it’s just cool to have a rally prepped Escort in the game.
Humph! It will never replace my Rally-spec Escort RS! lol

It's funny and more than a little bit sad that there's multiple "top recommended" designs where people have just uploaded the default paint job. These are the designs that will forever occupy the recommended tab.

Is it just me or does the Hoonitruck sound more like a NASCAR Cup car than aN Ecoboost DP/GT?

They've given it a V8ish sound when they could have just used the Ford GTLM sample from either FH3 or FM7, considering the marketing of the Hoonitruck was all about the "engine from the Le Mans Ford GT"...

I feel like the PG sound guy is just trolling at this point.

Hoonitruck paint bug.

If you paste the vinyl from the default design, the default paint pattern passes through the vinyl regardless of transparency.
This bug is more noticeable if you darken the color of the vinyl.

There is a house with a glitch that I find pretty funny. The house in the mountains on the north (forgetting the name) spawns the player in the driveway when you leave the house, but the gate at the end is always closed. So you need to ram your way on out of there to leave every time.

In other news, I am looking forward to trying out that Ford Escort RS car pass car later. Looks fun.

I’ve had a thought for quite some time, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if many of members of the sound department (And from the Dev team in general) at PG and T10 aren’t ‘car guys’. For them it could be just another job, and they might not have the passion for cars, so they might not care exactly about the details.

I’d like to think that developers working on this game would have an interest, but I’m sure there’s only so many people working in the video game sound industry for them to chose from.

Anyone else think we are already alarmingly close to that 550 garage limit with the number of unique cars we have in the game?

After the month of November there are already 532 unique car models, that includes all FE cars, all VIP, JB & FD DLC, 16 of the car pass cars and 7 preorder car models. I already added the Hoonicorn 10 as well which will come later in November.

That is 18 (eighteen!) cars below the garage limit this early in the game’s life cycle. And we still have this to come:
* 26 more cars from the car pass
* probably 10-14 more cars from the 2 expansions (assuming each expansion brings 5-7 cars with it)
* probably a dozen or more returning cars from previous Forza games via the Forzathon shop.
* probably a couple of extra barn finds
* maybe a few promo cars (Pringles, Mountain Dew, ...)

I absolutely hated how FM6 got more unique cars than its garage could hold and FH4 is getting towards the cap even much faster. I really hope Microsoft/Turn10/PlayGround have plans to extend that garage limit.

Probably. You can also tell with higher redline cars that there are distinct steps in the sound, so when revving quickly, you don't hear a smooth increase in pitch but rather levels like ___----****---___ The BAC Mono is pretty bad about this, it sounds awful

Does anyone know why the Hoonitruck loses top end performance when you try and upgrade the turbos? I've had it with a few vehicles now and it seems bizarre that ramping up the horsepower to crazy high amounts would lower the top speed overall. I can understand the acceleration dropping because it can't put the power down as cleanly but even with added weight and without changing the gearing, going from 1,186bhp to 1,460bhp feels like it should keep the top end the same rather than reducing everything. It's not like the power band changes either.

EDIT: It was the gearing causing issues. I still don't get why upgrading the turbos would reduce the top end when the gearing doesn't change but editing the ratios seems to free up that extra performance.

Why wouldn't they be car guys? Maybe not some of the sound team since they're audio engineers first and foremost (although I wager all of them are), but the team at PG almost has to be car guys. Look at all the off-the-wall and unique cars Forza goes after to put into the game, only someone who has a passion for cars would even consider doing that.

While I agree for the most part, the REAL car guys are probably the ones making the decisions. The underlings are putting these cars in because they are told to do so, not because they CHOSE to, I would imagine there is not a lot of crossover in the gaming industry and car lovers.

There is probably more than we are giving credit for, but it's not enough to say that T10/PG office are full of car enthusiasts.

I understand garage limits are a necessity, but I've never understood why.

So when creating blueprints, if you select the version that gives slower cars a head start, you can turn collisions off.

That's neat.

Even neater is setting that race up, only to find another player had full intention of ramming you off in turn 1, to watch him fly into the woods and promptly quit.

I won twice in one race. :D

Wheel spin and prize car (and Forzathon shop exclusives) system may be the cause.
Especially the latter is a bothersome system. Even if you feel unnecessary, there is no guarantee that you will get it again once you dispose of that car. Those who are indecisive like me will store a lot of prize in the garage.

My garage : 459/550 :guilty:

A question for the people who actually know how to drift. When drifting on dirt roads, is it better to use RWD or AWD? Street tires or dirt tires? I have a lot of trouble with the dirt drift zones. The biggest reason is I suck. But also, the allowable drifting area on dirt roads is a lot narrower than on paved roads, and that kills me.

Horizon 2 you would have other cars racing you to a destination, usually a rabbit you tried to keep up with, made the trips fun. I dont see any of that now, is there a setting to add that?

Just anytime you drove anywhere on the map you would have this, not now though.
