Update report: Time to review my thoughts on this game after a month.
Pros:
- Route Creator, I like that it does allow me to make tracks along any route in the game just as long as I pick an event to start from.
- Some of the updated sound samples don't sound half bad to me, though that isn't saying much as I'm not an audio expert.
- I like the return of more cars from FH1 & FM4 such as the Mazda RX-7 Spirit R Type A & Vauxhall VX220. I do enjoy the addition of a 1970s Ford F150, even if it's one modded by Hoonigan. The Ford Escort Cossie added at least has a different interior to the one already in the game.
- The live forzathon has been fun, I like how players have to make a team effort to get the tasks done.
- Heck, I thought I would dislike playing online with other players when the game came out. However, this game changed my mind a bit. Most players don't seem to bother me and just do their own thing. I think I only met one griefer when I left my car alone for a few minutes going to the bathroom. Aside from that, it's been okay.
- Blueprints still being here definitely helped with the longevity for this game.
- I don't remember saying this before, but I'll say it here. I'm glad I don't have to do championships on the same races again to complete the game, that was tedious in FH3.
Cons:
- While I said I'm glad I don't have to do solo championships to complete the game. I am annoyed that they weren't available as an option outside of seasonal events. I still like doing championship events from time to time, so it makes no sense to me that they're restricted to seasonal events.
- Speaking of seasonal events, they kinda annoy me. The races like in the main game are still way too short! I'm stuck at the moment on a cross country race because I'm racing the AI on a higher difficulty, but I do not have enough time to beat them all. Seriously? Only 3 laps? Is PG afraid of boring players if they have to do 5-7 laps. I'm not asking for a mini endurance, I just want my races to be a bit longer in order to have a chance. Especially in cross country events where I'm going to likely make more mistakes like hitting a tree (or a castle wall in my case).
- Before people ask why I didn't use rewind. Well that's simple, rewind wouldn't work. I tried pressing the rewind button several times (I checked the controls to make sure I didn't change anything) and it doesn't engage. I checked my controller to see if the button is broken by taking a quick screenshot and my Xbox took a screenshot as commanded. So, this tells me that it's broken.
- Aside from rewind, the sound still isn't working properly. I get lag with all sounds in the game and this is a major problem to me.
- The route creator is flawed and limited. The AI seem to not follow the line that I set always, there's one race I made where one car would skip the first checkpoint for instance. I see some cars go off the road on another route I made. In addition, it's kinda dissappointing that I can't do more than set checkpoints and a finish line. I was hoping that I could add barriers, fences, and archways. Similar to what GT6's track editor had.
