Wait, you have to do it in one sitting?

Progress isn’t saved, interestingly your records like speed traps, danger signs etc are saved, whenever they transfer over to the full game is anyone’s guess.

How long does it take to complete?
Depends on how you go about doing things.

There’s two tarmac races, two dirt races, one street race and one stunt driver event.

After that, the rest of the speed traps, speed and drift zones and danger signs will appear for you to complete.

If you go from race to race without doing anything else, it’s around an hour, but you’ll want to tinker with your cars, take in the scenery, discover all the roads in the demo area, find a beauty spot, find a fast travel board or two and try and 3 star all the activity’s.

In which case, you could maybe throw on an extra 3 or 4 hours on top of that, more if you just like cruising around and taking photos to boot. :P

... Yeah, 5 hours straight on a demo is a no for me. Also, I don't have the time for a 5 hour long sitting.

I really wanted to play it just to see how my PC would handle. Everything looks ok on Low. Not the best, but fine with me.

Also, at first I thought the demo would work like a beta where you can save progress.

Forza Horizon 4 on Mixer & Earning Influence
Starting with the launch of the Forza Horizon 4 demo today, players will begin to accrue “Influence” in Forza Horizon 4 when watching the demo being streamed. Influence represents a player’s progression in Forza Horizon 4 and is the core of the game’s “Horizon Life” campaign. No matter how you like to play the game, you’ll be earning Influence as you go – exploring racing, performing stunts, taking photographs, creating (liveries, tunes and Blueprints), and streaming (or viewing) on Mixer.

Once you have earned Influence for viewing a Forza Horizon 4 Mixer stream, you can claim it in the game using the same Xbox Gamertag you used to watch or stream on Mixer. (Note that players must unlock the “Mixer” thread in the Horizon Life campaign to take advantage of Mixer-earned Influence.) Players who stream Forza Horizon 4 on Mixer will earn Influence every two minutes, with a bonus applied for larger audiences.

Remember, you can start earning influence today by watching the Forza Horizon 4 demo and that earned Influence will unlock when you play the full version of Forza Horizon 4.

Start watching Mixer today, be a Superstar Icon when the game launch tomorrow. I think is a nice addition, but it kind of feel wrong. And apparently watching Mixer streams will be the only progression to carry over to the full game. I don't know how I feel about that... :odd:

Do I have to install the demo to start earning influence from this? If so I'll pass as I'm waiting for release, but just curious.

I hope nothing's locked exclusively behind having to watching somebody else play the game for X hours. Though, I have a feeling that when PG says "you can progress the game by doing ANYTHING," they really mean "you have to progress and rank up EVERYTHING to 100% the game."

I'd imagine the rewards for the mixer campaign would be credits, wheelspins and maybe a clothing item/emote/horn or two. Surely they wouldn't but a car behind that campaign

I want to believe that they learned from FM7.
A large number of locked cars will not extend the life of the game.
I'm ok with "locked cars" being barn finds, and gameplay rewards, like the midnight battles in FH3. Based on that Ford Falcon gameplay leak from a few pages back, the 1934 Alfa Romeo P3 is a reward for buying Edinburgh Castle, so I'd imagine a few cars will be 'locked' behind property. Same with wheelspins. As long as there is a clear method and timeframe for getting the car then I think that's fine. Like FM7's showcase rewards.

What T10 did was lock a bunch of cars off and gave no date for when you could acquire them. Even in July, 8 months after the games release, there were cars that still weren't obtainable until they unlocked them all. They defs ain't doing that for FH4.

My main problem with FH4 despite it looking gorgeous and definitely better than FH3 is that the car list is basically unchanged. If you look closely at the car list the most recent cars from many manufacturers are from 2016. But we had since then so so many cars coming out, even 2019 models are benig shown but the game seems to not have updated licenses. Except for the Senna and a few other 2018 cars, it's really 'old'.
Just a few examples: No new RS5, instead we still have the 2012 version. No new M5, no new RS3, no new E63S, all are the old models. No Performante, 812, Pista, Portofino. Like, seriously, this is supposed to be the pinnacle AAA game for car enthusiasts, so where are these latest models? :(

DLC ;)

Not very high hopes here as for example Forza 7 DLCs only brought very unappealing cars. All sort of exotics, suv's, oldtimers, drift cars, you name it. I think the only cars from the FM 7 DLCs i liked were the 812, 720s and the Giulia QF
I will end up getting it because it just looks and drives nicely for an arcade game and goes along well with my sim racing interest (whereas FM7 or GTS fail for me because they try to be both) but i could be definitely more excited if the release version car list was more up to date.

BMW M5 will not be added for the time being. Like Project Cars 2 and McLaren 720S, they were collaborating with Need For Speed Payback. Perhaps I guess that EA monopolizes the M5 license for a certain period of time.

You trying to tell me that the 2016 Toyota Arctic Trucks Hilux AT38 is unappealing a track based motorsport game?? ;)

Jokes aside, FH3's dlc brought a lot of updates to newer models and if I were a betting man I'd be expecting some of those cars you listed in the car pass and beyond. Will it be completely to your tastes? No, that's not really possible or in PG/T10's vision for DLC.

I'd spring for best models and base models over newest models.

I would dare say it's a very youthful trait, desiring the newest and fastest version of everything.

Even though Forza is taking this strategy to the extremes, I can understand the pattern where new cars not seen in Forza before will be added as DLC. However, it's mind-boggling to me how there's no Ferrari 812, Porsche 911 GT3 RS (991.2) and 2018 Honda Civic Type-R. I thought it was a minimum requirement to have those three cars included alongside the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, Bugatti Chiron and McLaren 720S.

All six cars were recent DLC highlights for FM7, but only three of them made the transition to FH4. There could be several reasons why, such as licensing issues, but it doesn't change the fact that it's really strange to see one of the most prolific racing games not being able to launch with all the latest and greatest cars already seen in another Forza game. It shouldn't be this way.

Especially in the tech and car world i like this, yes.
In other areas i am more sort of old school :)

You don't have to play/install the demo. The influence will be linked to mixer platform only. But you can gain more influence from streaming the demo.

I have the first XBox One model, would you buy an Xbox One X only for FH4 knowing that I play it on a 1080p screen? For the first time, I will buy the ultimate edition (well done Microsoft , we say racing games don't sell anymore but I've bought an Xbox only for Forza and all the six!!! Forza games).

I guess the X would play it at 1080p60 so that would be a bonus, but probably not essential for whatever an Xbox One X retails for.

I bought the XBox OneS just for Forza Horizon 3. It was such a jump in gameplay quality that I bough FM6 a week later, bought FM5 2 months later, pre-ordered FM7 (and never regret it), bought all the DLC for all of them, and finally enjoyed FH2 this Summer. Forza is just a ton of fun to play with.

I would imagine that Xbox One X connected to a 1080p display would bring better graphical details and more stable frames even at 30 FPS. I'm not entirely sure though, so it would be cool if someone who has been using a setup like that for FH3 and / or FM7 would chime in with some knowledge.

Will it be 4K downscaled to 1080p, and would that even look good? Or will it be native 1080p with some extra eye candy?

I don't know about FH4 exactly, but in that scenario FM7 will still give you all the extra graphical detail you can expect on the One X (with 4k textures, better draw distance and less aggressive LODing, etc.), in a 1080p resolution supersampled from a native 4k output. Of course it's not the same as playing in 4K - a lot of visual clarity will still be lost in the supersampling process. But it's definitely a huge leap forward in terms of graphical quality, at least in my experience.

Then of course there is HDR, which is absolutely gamechanging... If you can get it to work properly, that is.
