As promised, I have returned with more of my creations.
Like the 968 in my previous post, I was searching for inspiration for a livery on the Elise GT1 for a good while. I wanted to stay clear of the yellow and black design I'm sure all of us are familiar with, so I looked up images of the GT1 on Google and was lead to the Esprit GT1 that preceded the Elise. From what I could find there were two examples run by the factory, #21 and #22, with the main difference being the color of the V8 logo (teal on #21, and yellow on #22 as seen in my design). I tweaked a few elements to fit the Elise body while staying as true to the Esprit as possible. I liked the simplicity, and black really is the only color the Elise GT1 should be.
Like the Puma, the Pulsar was an excellent addition to the game, and one that I was excited to paint on. As I expected, pretty much every livery on the Storefront is the tan/red/blue Castrol WRC design, and I wanted to do something a little different. My main inspiration was the Bluebird SSS-R, which has one of my favorite stripe designs ever. I think it fits the Pulsar rather well, and it's even period correct! And, if you really dig the design, I have a non-sponsored version available on the Storefront (search "SSS-R") if you so wish.
I flopped around a lot on how to go about the Celica before settling on an NGK/NTK sponsor. I'd actually just purchased a set of NGK spark plugs at the time, and developed a hankering to use their logo extensively on a design. This one puts the spotlight squarely on the title sponsor with a few others having smaller appearances. I'm not quite as big on this one in hindsight because of all the red and green, but it's sated my NGK appetite for now.
Ever since Forza 4 I've had the idea of a fantasy Japanese racing team running a Ferrari. I even made a Tein livery for the 330P4 way back when, and I decided to revisit the idea with the 512S. Of course, we have to forget for a moment that Tein was founded roughly a decade and a half after the 512 (and 330, for that matter) was relevant to racing, but I just couldn't resist using the anthropomorphic shock absorber characters; I think it ties into the "quirky 70s Japanese sponsor" shtick well enough.
I had a bit of fun with the last inclusion in this post. I was initially just going to adapt the famous Trans-Am livery to the Gremlin when inspiration struck. Wisconsin is often considered AMC's spiritual home as they produced almost every passenger car model at their production plant in Kenosha; so, why not inject a little bit of that Dairyland DNA into it? I also tried my best to replicate a sort of Trans-Am style build on it, with a focus on front aero, beefing up the engine, and leaving it with only three gears to row through. I wish we could adjust ratios of stock transmissions (or consider it as part of the differential upgrades), but I'm still happy with how it came out.
