All (valid) gripes aside, Am I the only one that leaves the title screen running to hear the full FH5 theme (maybe twice...)? In my mind, it has become as recognizable as the Dovahkiin chant or Halo's monk chorus.
As someone who has a hate/hate relationship with the music in the Horizon games lol, yeah the opening theme music for FH5 is great!

I wanted to do a lot more with this, but when I realized that I had spent two hours just on what's there and that most of that time was copy-pasting concrete barriers, I realized that my ambition had outreached my patience and decided it's Good Enough™. So there's nothing really stopping you from powerbombing down the mountain in a straight line after the first switchback, but I will say it's more entertaining to take the whole route. If only because physics tends to get really, really unhappy with my over-tuned Unimog when it starts to fall over.

It was pretty fun making all the little details around the rockslides though.
What about placing large rocks or trees?

I absolutely love it, but I swear the main note progression is the same as a recent drum & bass track and it's driving me crazy not knowing which one.

Speaking of which, this sounds awesome IMO

Assuming that race they showed is any indication, the post-race Empty White Void is gone! The Evo crossed the line and we got a cool in-environment slow-motion shot.
Spinning to win just became (potentially) hilarious again 🙂
Spin to win has never been hilarious. Spin to throw away a win, however…
That's kind of what I meant...

Never gets old...

I'm at 64 out of 61. I think the balance transfers to next weeks challenges.
It doesn't, but I have no idea what's actually going on.

I think they forgot to factor in Rivals to the points, because it looks like there's an extra four points for each season (three for last season because of the broken Exhibition Daily, unless you hadn't done an Exhibition and could therefore do it) but I can't say for sure.

Weirdly, I got the three points from Tour for this season two weeks ago, and when this season started the Tour had been marked complete already.

Is there any surefire way to accumulate Forzathon Points with the lack of activity within the events? It was going good for me for a week and now I see no one again.

I lost faith in humanity.... 4 bone stock 2002 Turbo in the Trial. Four!?! We also managed to lose too because all of the Musketeers came dead last every single time all three races. The other guy quitted in the first race. The Musketeers didn't... they finished all the races. So did I..

I managed to get a bunch of Forzathon points the last 2 nights. I played a bunch of Horizon Arcade events, and while we almost got all 3 rounds complete only once, I managed to get 40 2 times. It's been my experience the last couple of weeks that you find more players as we approach the weekly deadline. Most particularly Wed night. If a couple of decent Drifters get together and really work it, you can get 2 rounds done. the 10 minutes they give you, is tough. ( What was it in FH4? 12 minutes? ). I played a round of the Pinata smash, ( it was in the Mexican city with the underground tunnels ) that was just brutal. 2 of us got barely halfway there before time ran out. The Speed Challenge was up on the Volcano, and 3 or 4 of us fell just short of completing 2 rounds.

This week's season championship seems designed to make me re-learn the problems with FH5's AI and make me hate this game.
Sprint races? No problem. I can easily beat them and keep the lead.
Circuit races? No kidding. They use NOS on every straight and turn every corner at high speed like they are slot racing.
It is their boost on the straights that disgusts me, especially in this week's season championship.
No matter how much you close the gap in the corners they quickly regain the lead with just a few straights.
And unlike in FH4, they don't let that boost stop them in the final lap.
Baja scrambles are the worst. I've tried many times and I still finish 3rd. I'm using a car with a build that could easily beat them if it were a sprint race.

Thanks for the tips everyone. I never even bother looking at the car masteries half the time, but I also don't farm for points either so that's probably why. Going to have to switch that up I think.

How is it that I can put the Funco engine in a Delorian but I cant even put a supercharger in the 330 P4? Baffling swap choices persist as strong as ever, I see.

What about placing large rocks or trees?
There wasn't really any room for trees (which would look out of place anyway), and rocks... oh, I got rocks all up in there, my dude. The main issue is that the dirt trail on the west end of the volcano is about 3.5 miles long if you follow it all the way down proper, and cordoning the entirety of that off to prevent people from just straightlining it down would have taken forever alongside adding more gimmicks to make the trip more interesting. And I was already worried that there was an increasing chance of the game crashing and me losing all the work I had done already, so I just decided that it is what it is.

I mean, it's just a challenge card I got a spontaneous urge to make. It's not a college mid-term essay or anything.

Does anyone know a good way to divine the list of eligible cars for events? I know they suggest a car in the picture but if I don't have that one I want to know what others I could use. The danger sign didn't work in the Aston DBS Legerra I had, though it is listed as a "Super GT" the event said wrong car. The listing says "GT Cars" but there is no GT Car category in the car collection filter and "Super GT" is the only category with the word GT in it. (Edit: The car had a rating of 835 and the event says 900, does it actually have to be exact? I thought it was a limit. But they don't make it clear.)

Might have something to do with one being a Ferrari. They’re notoriously strict in how their brand is displayed.

Are you talking about the Festival Playlist events? If so if you're using an Xbox Pad, I believe you press start, or select?

Thanks! I didn't see that, perhaps because it only shows the prompt under the Seasonal Championships but not the stunts/speed camera/speed zone/danger sign etc challenges. So, I still don't know what they mean by GT Cars.

I think the equivalent of the Firebird Trans Am for FPs is the Golf R32. I think it's $20K + 4 perks = 10 FP. There's also the Cayman people use b/c it's 4 perks = 10 FP and 10 perks for Super Wheelspin, but it costs $80K, iirc.

Thanks. It doesn't show all the car types in the filter, so thanks for pointing out how to get to it!
If you're filtering your owned cars, it'll only show the car types where you own one. Filtering the Autoshow is more useful for the obscure classes.

The 330 is an old car that basically hasn't had its parts and upgrades touched since the race 550's V12 was removed for FM4, whereas the DMC-12 has come back after a sufficiently long time that the engine swaps have been redone from scratch. I'd assume that's the reason why.

I'd say it's the definitive theme for Forza Horizon so far, but again that is subjective.
Forza Horizon's theme is Language. Never another. 🐺

My wife and I saw Porter Robinson live in October. I didn't watch the video of his Second Sky 2021 performance until after our concert experience, because spoilers. Porter got to the part of the set where he polls the audience for long-time fans, who would know his earlier work. I shouted, "Forza Horizon!"

The next song was Language X Unfold:

The Festival race to get the Jag. F-Type reminded me of why I'm not fond of racing the AI off-road. An AMG Hammer Coupe & a 2.6 Evo II apparently have no problem getting the best of a Audi RS6 Avant off-road. Won the first 2 races, came 4th in the last race to win by 2 points. The AI in this game just taking perfect corners and speed through dirt surfaces in German saloons is so bizarre to see, imo.

Got the weird electric Batmobile-looking supercar. Really quick, but I think I might throw it on the AH after the week is done, just to see what I can snag from it.

I found the Shadow the Hedgehog car RAESR pretty underwhelming, to be honest. The CVT is what ruins it, far too sluggish feeling off the line, the top speed is basically capped with no way to improve it, and it's near impossible to control all that neck-snapping torque properly out of corners when the transmission functions like an on/off switch. And you can't even swap it out, which is a real shame because I feel like a 9 or even 10 speed gearbox would actually work quite well with it to manage all the wheelspin.

I think it bears mentioning that the updated handling has adjusted the pros and cons of AWD, in the direction of being more realistic, I'd say.

As a former RWD diehard (long ago) who adapted to AWD driving with experimentation and practice, rather than being "easy mode", I feel that AWD is more accurately a combination of advantages and disadvantages from both 2WDs. You sacrifice RWD's tidy balance of control, for FWD's unique traction benefits. You lose some of FWD's power-understeer safety net, for some of RWD's rear end control. Extra traction comes at the cost of power understeer.

Until you add aggressive differential wizardry to the mix, anyway. 🐺

I do see it the way you broke it down, but I guess with the way I play, it does indeed boil down to an arcade racer perspective with two distinct characteristics between cars: the car that doesn't spin out as easily at the cost of maneuverability, and the car that can be faster, but only if you can finesse the controls required. I always felt this was the way to go as a game dev if you want people to be using most (if not all) cars in the game.

Only thing though is that the effort to payoff ratio (at least to me right now) doesn't balance out, but that really only matters if this was solely a competitive game (which it thankfully isn't!).

So one nice change they in this iteration is that doing the daily challenges and that weekly challenge of "owning a specific car and doing all sorts of things with it" give you FP now. The arcade events aren't as reliable right now.
