I'd hate to be some of you people when it comes to playing Warzone. Coming from that, Eliminator is piss easy and honestly a massive breather.

I hesitate involving myself in this childishness but... Spending time in a thread about a game you clearly heavily dislike/Waste of time

Who'd have thunk it?
I don’t heavily dislike FH5. There are just some things I find unfortunate about it. First Forza game I didn’t buy day one, but I may buy it one day once it hopefully has redeemed itself.

It has nothing to do with the difficulty... Today I got to the final few people only to lose the whole thing because the game picked a finishing point closer to where my opponent was than me...In a race less than a 1km in game. So I had no chance...I don't play Call Of Duty for the same reason that I don't enjoy wasting time in the Eliminator.

I mean, it's not that bad - and you can get into the final round pretty routinely if you know what you're doing - but now I've chalked off all the Accolades and won my seven, I've got very little intention of doing it ever again outside of the season changes.

My technique is:

I'll have to sink some time and try and get it done out of that way. I get to the last 6 90% of the time so hopefully this will get me over the edge so I can just get that Steam achievement...😂

I guess because of my general noninterest in the mode (- the associated achievement) as a whole I have not tried too hard to understand and learn it's intricacies.

After a long time of playing the last three Horizon games, i have come to the dreaded conclusion that Drivatars in Horizon Solo's Free Roam are just Playground Games' subtle passive-aggressive way of nagging players into joining Horizon Life.

See that Drivatar that you accidentally smashed/got smashed by? That's just the devs nagging you to go play Horizon Life.
Agreed.
They seem to be obstacles in Horizon Solo's free roam that are there to ruin our play.

Are they earning skill scores? Then we'll drive backwards in the lane you're in and ram your car!
Playing a PR stunt? Then let us block all the lanes right in front of that speed zone or danger sign! Traffic and we are in an alliance!

They must be thinking this way.

I checked my Eliminator stats today. 106 games. 45 times I made the final round (42.5%). 10 wins (10.6%). That's not unreasonable. I am very much a coward. Scramble for car drops. Avoid other players. Sneak into the final round. Hope I've got enough car to win.

Although I normally avoid head-to-head challenges like the plague, I did get an amazing win the other day. It was near the airport and we were in the next to last arena. I was in a level 4 Mitsubishi when a level 10 AMG-One popped out of the jungle. The thing is I was already driving towards the arena, and he was driving out. So I challenged him. And I won. Easily. I honestly don't know what happened to him. Maybe he fell out of his chair laughing when I challenged him and couldn't recover fast enough. Whatever happened, I got his car and the overall win.

I haven't touched a COD since MW2, did the BFV version and won it. Not my cup of tea, Hell Let Loose is more my lane.

On the plus side of Online FH5 modes. I've started enjoying the Trails and Horizon Tours, Whereas before I found them frustrating, I find them close to being my good deed for the week on FH5 as every time I'm holding up the AI to help the rest of my team. 😄

This week's Trial will be the death of me. I've tried it twice and got matched with idiots who drive like Verstappen crossed with Mazepin. It doesn't matter if you're on the same team, because little Johnny McTriestoohard just has to go for the gap or else he's no longer a racecar driver. And don't get me started on the Stadium circuit.

Edit:
Got the job done by the skin of my teeth. We led by 250 points by the final corner, and my teammate in 4th slammed on the brakes to block a Drivatar ahead of me to let me pass...only for the Drivatar to swerve to the left for a 3-way photo finish! Thankfully my teammate hung onto 4th and we hung onto the overall win.

The VW bus at 800 is actually pretty good. I did multiple Tour series with it the past two days and had my most intense finish yet, albeit with an incorrect finishing order.

I also was part of two full bus wins.

I honestly hope the first thing the devs do after their Xmas brake is to simply delete the Trial from the game. The only thing this silly mode does is to frustrate the crap out of people. I just wasted another 1,5 hours of time just trying Trials over and over again.

Multiple car tuning options (good and bad) + random players (good and bad) + unbeatable cheating drivatars (always good) is just a recipe for disaster.

It frustrated me so much already in the 2 months the game is out that I don‘t even care to fix/improve it anymore. Just… delete... it!

No.. The Trial and PGG are the only worth repeating. I did my first Trial in a convoy which is the best way, imo. Now I try to help others. Or at least I think I'm helping.
But the important thing is the working treasure hunt. I didn't get the clue right but got it while trying various Danger Signs.

I usually enjoy the Trial, but this week with S1 cars and morons who can't control them is... not a great example.

Especially with the first race being in fog.

Not to mention they're Hoonigan cars which are notorious for poor braking and incredibly tail-happy no matter how much you try to dial that out, and the tracks are street races with no barriers around to keep them in check. Makes me glad I don't care enough about the Peel to want to beat my head against the wall trying for those 10 points.

Tried different Hoonigans for the trial and downgraded RS200 looks like the best option, if you can handle it. Very slidy but very fast, got two victories in the first race out of two tries in this car. Just don't forget hardbraking corners. Second race seems to be the hardest.

In general I'd prefer something slower, S1 is too fast for narrow high-speed races. Missed checkpoints so many times it's embarrassing

@strela it's my second week in a row I'm trying to help others after getting the points, too, but more often than not I just feel too stressed as soon as I touch someone or especially when I miss the checkpoint. I think I'll just stay out of people's way in the future as soon as the trial is done

The best car would probably be the Porsche 911 964 with the RWB kit. Unfortunately you have to unlock the car with skill points through the car mastery of the Porsche 911 GT2. Yes, it's branded as a Hoonigan car, not a Porsche.

I understand not being fast enough to match the Unbeatable AI (primarily since they cheat like hell), but I don't understand how so many random players are even able to play this game, based on their driving ability in The Trial. I just had a race where half of my team were in the RWB Porsche, meaning they had to race/play long enough to earn the GT2, then drive and get enough skill points to unlock the RWB, and still couldn't take a corner to save their lives. :banghead:

Also, why the 🤬ing hell the is Trial prize this week a car that you literally get within the first ~30 minutes of gameplay? The Group A Cossie, while not at all hard to get, would be a much more understandable choice. Hell, considering there's some small evidence of the RX43 Fiesta being in the game, that would've been a totally more worthwhile and interesting choice.

Important advice for the Event lab challenge.
1: All treasure chests are located in a maze or fort surrounded by trees.
2: Make sure you upgrade your focus before playing the event. That, too, with as much PI assigned to acceleration and launch acceleration as possible.

I foolishly used a stock focus for this challenge.
This challenge will be played with much reduced engine power until you destroy the three treasure chests.
You can still complete the challenge with a stock Focus, but you will be greatly lacking in horsepower and torque, and will have a very hard time getting enough power to climb the ramps of the fort where the treasure chests are hidden.
Not only that, but you will also have to accelerate very slowly once you stop in a maze-like area, so you will spend extra time on this challenge and that slowness will create stress.

I'm pretty sure the Hoonigan Porsche is the default car if you don't own any other available cars. I ended up with it somehow during one of my attempts.

So today I am getting disconnected like crazy, can't seem to join horizon open and twice my controller stopped vibrating and needed a game restart...

Please don't regress to the
launch state, FH5!!!

Well maybe it just me. I barely get stressed since I already completed it. I'm using the 1978 Escort with the recommend tune: 126 484 608. That car can reach first/second place after 10-20 seconds into a race. From there I just block. We still lost most of the times, but we also win. Ok one win in the last 5 attempts is not much, but is enough for me. 😊

Yeah, my winning rate is more or less the same:lol:. My team actually won at first try but I was in a wrong car (group A Cosworth) and finished 7th and 10th. However, the team was amazing, and I felt I didn't contribute as much as I could, that's why I decided to help others.

This ^

4 attempts in already and everytime all of my team either overshoot the first 90° turn in the first race or just drift off any other random turn.

Not to mention the fact that most of them turn up in the unmodified Hoonigan Escort...

Since the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ's currently getting sniped off the Auction House within milliseconds, I'm going to have to wait until the car becomes available on either the ForzaThon Shop or as a Seasonal Championship prize in the Festival Playlist.
