Ahh that feeling when you do your least favourite out of the way and leave the nice chill stuff for the end šŸ¤—

Haha, that is exactly my strategy as well! First quickly do all the annoying and ā€œdependant on other playersā€œ events, afterwards go enjoy the single player stuff at my own pace. ā˜ŗļø

I had to give the new 2019 Audi TT RS a quick try before bed. I really like the car! Beautiful car both exterior and interior, nice engine sound (also in the tunnels in G-town), and indeed as already mentioned itā€™s great we get the Audi Sport performance parts as visual upgrades as well. But that Forzavista bug... letā€˜s hope it gets fixed soon.
Also the fact that Audi already announced it wonā€™t design a new model TT anymore means that the 2019 TT RS (= Mk3) will be the final model in its highest performance. Thatā€™s definitely a keeper for many Forza games to come. I hope some day they add the Mk1 TT as well so we have all 3 generations in the franchise.

More info on those Audi Sport performance parts for the 2019 TT RS can be found here :
(I always enjoy comparing game stuff with real life stuff ā˜ŗļø)

I used A90 Supra for the S1 Dirt Championship.
Briefly, the upgrades include an HKS widebody, Streethunter LA rear spoiler, offroad tires, and a Racing 7.2 V8 swap.
With a few tweaks such as a lower ride height and a higher tire pressure setup, the Supra with this setup is a monster that can easily win this championship.
On the tarmac, the handling is a bit sluggish due to tire issues, but once me get to the gravel sections, this car is fast enough to keep all the other cars at bay.
This championship was weird, but I would say it was the most enjoyable experience on playlist this week.

Final round of the Jaguar and Peugeot Championship. I was tired of using the F-Type, so I used the I-Pace as an odd choice.
The result, of course, was victory. But again, this car is ruined by the one speed gearbox. I wish it could be replaced with a two speed gearbox like the Taycan.
I hope that FM8 or FH6 will add gearbox conversions to EV as well.

and generally pleasing the hardcore racing game player or fan of the series (which I think is clear that they have not)
I'm just curious who are those fans of the series? There was a poll a month ago. The OP asked how do you feel about FH5 since a lot of people complain about dead and boring game and we were almost 2 months into the game. 6500 people responded to that poll. 6500 is not much compared to the 16M that had tried the game. Still the results were quite positive.

26% voted "I'm still loving it, it's amazing"
29% voted "I'm having plenty of fun still"
24% voted "It's OK, not bad"
18% voted "To be honest, I'm not enjoying it that much"
4% voted "It's pretty awful in my opinion"

Who voted? Well mostly those that follow Forza on Reddit and on official forum. So I really wonder who are those fans you are talking about.

If you make a design using anyone elseā€™s assets you canā€™t share it.

This is due to user-generated content being part of the gameā€™s economy.
It's a shame really that there's no ability to opt out of receiving the credits in return for people being able to use my vinyls in their designs. Given how after a few months I've got all available cars and a few million in the bank, I'm not really bothered about receiving a few credits a day for downloads. I certainly don't care if someone takes my design, uses it on their livery and makes a few credits out of it.

It shouldn't be mandatory to allow reuse, but would be nice to have it as an option.

The same goes for tuning setups. There should be an option for a tuner to not lock his setup file and tuning but allow people who download his tune to see the settings and further adjust them. That would be great for learning how to tune or even to customize a tune (maybe change a visual upgrade, tire compound, or whatever).

In regards to that poll Strela mentioned or being bored with the game or not. I had my lower dip about a month after release where I was only doing the festival playlist every week and nothing else. My main game focus then was AC Valhalla. But now today Iā€™m playing a lot more FH5 again, I donā€™t think Iā€™ve touched Valhalla in a week. Iā€™m having a lot of fun now picking out a car, watching real life stuff about it. That goes from reading the Wikipedia or Supercars.net page, watching a Doug Demuro or other review of the car, in other words get hyped about the car, then switch to the game and see how well the devs did with creating the virtual version of that car: which exact model did they use, which region the car came from, how well is Forzavista implemented, how does it drive, feel and sound. I turn the in-game radio off and crank my 5.1 surround home theatre sound system way up to hear the engine and environmental sounds better. I drive in cockpit view, use the assists (man/auto/tc/esp) as they are on the real car. Itā€™s really immersive. Youā€™d be amazed how much better the cars sound if you play like that.

Now I will also mention that those Forza players who are here for the competitive multiplayer, who only drive a handful of cars in the game and who are here for the hardcore racing, I also FULLY understand that you can get bored of FH5 quickly. But be honest, wasnā€™t that the case with previous games as well to a certain degree? I think for that kind of racing you are better off with a track focussed racer like Forza Motorsport or Gran Turismo.

I was watching Lotus Carlton videos yesterday, and after getting the car from the festival playlist ended up in the cockpit view and loved seeing the dash perfectly recreated. Before I'm done I'm going to load every one of my favourite cars and have a good look around them, opening doors, boots and bonnets doing the Doug thing myself!

thought you could not take em by not pressing download, says button 6 too download ie accept credits, just don't, but obviously you rather not get the notifications .

Modern car games are amazing with interiors.

During my weekly race session one of the drivers mentioned to keep an eye on the temperature gauge. When it gets close to night-time the temp reading drops.

I donā€™t know if Forza Horizon 5 does this but in Project CARS 3 the Porsche 911 GT3 RS had a working odometer and trip counter. It was handy when I was mapping out the length of some fictional circuits.

What he's saying is that he wishes for an option where you can have your custom designs/emblems excluded from the game economy altogether, effectively turning them into freeware than anyone can use on their own designs. Currently, even if you don't accept the passive credits that your designs earn, they're still earning income in the games economy regardless.

My concern at that point, though, would be what happens if someone makes a design using a "freeware" decal that they want to share? I.e., would the livery itself be freeware then, and as such the creator can't earn credits for it?

yeah for sure no one else should be able too make cr from them. would make things complicated. rather they got on with fixing the game.

The Horizon Open event "Spoilt for Choice" in the Festival Playlist is going to be very difficult for me because I have to win. I can't drift to save my life, so drifting is out. I'm not that fast a racer, so racing is a no-go. Games is not team-based, it's all a big free-for-all, so I might have a chance there. I tried it a couple times today but had terrible luck. So that leaves Eliminator. I manage to win about 1-in-15 tries, so I'll just have to keep trying this week until I get a win. That's a lot of work for two points.

There are some team Games, some FFA games - as I found out upthread, when someone noted there were solo Games which I hadn't seen to that point.

I have no idea how they're scheduled - it doesn't seem to alternate, for example - so it's pure luck if you get in one, and even more luck if you don't have a team of dolts who quit. Best bet though, I reckon.

I guess I'll just keep trying. Hopefully I can find a team game.

Open Racing is probably the easiest for me as I always get put on the worse team in PG games and cant wait for it to end šŸ˜€, Get yourself a S1 road, A class Road and A class Offroad tune as you dont know what class you are going to join into.

Take note that you only have to win one race and not the whole outright 3 event series.

If racing is a complete no go I guess just repeatedly joining PG games until you are fortunate to get a workable team is the next best.

@Populuxe I was on the winning side for the FP Playground Games and it gave me the Horizon Open win too. I don't think I came first in any round either, although I did infect three out of four of the opposing team during survivor it didn't show a score at the end of the round because I'm pretty sure we won as a result of infecting them faster than they infected us.

I have seen reports on Reddit that winning the Eliminator doesnā€™t always work. From the tips I saw, I decided Playground Games is the best thing to do. Most Redit posts seem to indicate that you need to come on top of your team for one of the sub-events. Being longest King on your team even if overall your team loses the entire event still unlocks the Spoilt for Choice (according to Reddit).

Now, I donā€™t know how things go for you guys but my multiplayer is seriously messed up in the amount of team mates or opponents I get. This was the case at launch and none of the patches seemed to have fixed this. Sorted from best to worse :
  • Horizon Tour: I almost instantly get a game and itā€™s always full (6 players vs 6 AI)
  • Horizon Open (racing or drifting): Same here, launches fast and most of the time the game is full (12 players)
  • Eliminator : Takes about 10 seconds to join, then I get a full or nearly full game.
  • Horizon Trial : This is where it starts to get bad. Very rarely I get like 6 players vs 6 drivatars. More likely I get like about 3 players vs 6 drivatars. A lot of times I just get 2 vs 6 games.
  • Playground Games : I seem to get 1vs1 games the most, sometimes 1vs2, I think a few weeks after launch I had 1 6vs6 game but that is like months ago.

When I do my weekly Playground game, itā€™s always 1 vs 1 for a long as I remember. Usually I just watch a video on my iPad while I goof around with the controller to prevent it from going idle, just letting my opposite side win.
I did the same thing this week on thursday, I lost the game and the Playground Games thing completed, NOT the Spoilt for Choice (I didnā€™t even knew about it then, next time I should check out ALL weekly and daily stuff :P). I never captured a flag but I believe I was king for some seconds and uninfected as well. Since I was alone, I was top of my team but didnā€™t get the Spoilt for Choice.

Then on Friday I saw the Spoilt for Choice thing and the hot debates on Reddit. I decided to give PGG another shot, of course it was again a 1vs1 game. This time instead of my stock A800 Tankpool FE I downloaded an A800 tune for the freshly gifted Jeep Trailcat with Halo livery. My opponent used an A800 tune for that aweful Nissan Pickup rallyraid thing (sorry I just hate that car, it drives aweful, it looks aweful and my goodness that thing makes a weird sound when it was near me). Eventually his Nissan had faster straight line speed but my Trailcat (Halocat šŸ˜¹) was better in anything else. I absolutely donā€™t like PPG, im not good at it, but I won all 3 sub modes (king/flag/infected) and after that one game my Spoilt for Choice unlocked, phew! Done! For the record, I did NOT start that game via the Horizon Open menu, I started it from the Festival weekly playlist PPG icon (the only already completed while semi-AFK watching iPad YouTube clips ā˜ŗļø).

I donā€™t know if you read it this far @Populuxe but my strong suggestion would be to just ignore eliminator. The reports Iā€™ve seen for winning it and Spoilt for Choice not unlocking seem aweful. Just go full out on PPG, get a good A800 tune for an unlimited off-road vehicle of your choice (since the event is at the stadium I suggest to get something with focus on breaking / launch / acceleration and ignore off-road. I donā€™t know if you get 1vs1 games all the time like me, then it seems quite easy to eventually win a game. If you always get 6vs6 games then just do your best. Especially for King games since that was reported to work if you are first for your team, even if you team overall loses the entire event, you can still get it. Iā€™m not sure if your total King time needs to be higher than the total king time for the best player of the opposing team, so maybe keep an eye out for that one too.

TLDR : just get a good tune and play PGG games, focus on individual sub-games (especially king), not the entire event.

Thats a good thing actually. In the Trial, the fewer drivers on your team, the better your odds of winning based on score. The two of you can score against all six of the other team, but the other team can only score against the two of you. Say you and your teammate can only manage to finish third and fourth. Thatā€™s 400 points each for the four cars you beat for a total of 800 points. The other team can only score 200 points each for beating the two of you, plus 50 points for the win, for 450 points total. So you win the race handily without actually, you know, winning the race.

I donā€™t know if you read it this far @Populuxe
I did read it this far. I read everything you and everyone else wrote workshopping this problem. I appreciate everyoneā€™s input. Hereā€™s what happened when I tried to to complete ā€œSpoilt for Choiceā€ last night.

It took about ten tries, but I finally found a team game at Ekā€™ Balam. (All my team games were either at Ekā€™ Balam or the airport. Nowhere else.) I used my A800 RJ Anderson trophy truck. Itā€™s got a good mix of top speed, acceleration, and handling. I dropped into a game already in progress. Our team was embarrassingly bad. We lost Flag Rush 16-3. In Infected, it took only 1:10 to eliminate us all. At least I was the last one. But yeah, we lost.

So I spent another ten minutes waiting for another team game to pop up. We lost all three games. Lather, rinse, repeat. Again. Four straight times our team lost every game. Thatā€™s pretty discouraging. But finally I ended up on the winning side and finished ā€œSpoilt for Choiceā€. It took from midnight to about 2:00 am, but I did it. Now all I need to do is finish out the dailies, and I will have completed 100% of Season 3.

On the subject of uneven teams, I had this a few weeks back in one of the tougher Trails. It was me, A random player and a group of 4. We narrowly won the first race and lost the second badly. The party of 4 must of thought we had no chance for the last race and just quit. Me and the remaining random stayed and easily finished 1st and 2nd (I did a bit of blocking of AI to help him) to win it after all. šŸ˜€

Yeah I know reduced players for the trial is an advantage (or lower PI players joining and quitting after 1 race since they also bring a corresponding lower PI drivatar). But IMO thatā€™s just the convenient workaround of what is simply aweful game design. The Trial is a horrible experience for me week after week and sure, some weeks I get it done the first try as well and I go ā€œphew, glad I donā€™t have to bother with that for another 7 daysā€. The Horizon Open on the other hand is actually quite similar in game mechanics but the races are oooh so much more fun! You donā€™t need a max PI car, you donā€™t need a high quality tune, you can just come as you are and drive what you want. The Trial is stress and frustration, the Open is relaxing and enjoying.

Anyway glad you got that Spoilt for Choice done! Iā€™m in the same boat as you, due to bugged dailies and a a bugged treasure hunt I didnā€™t 100% series 1 or 2 either (probably same for 95% of the gamers) and season 3 will also be my first one I get 100%. :cheers:But the devs promised they will retroactively fix the issues with previous seasons, hopefully thatā€™s already in the patch/update for next week (which will probably drop on Tuesday Feb 1st).

I've grown to enjoy the Trail, I don't seem to struggle with teams as much as at the start of the game. In my opinion the difficulty now we have all gotten used to the game is quite fair (for supposedly being close to the most difficult "end game" type of content)

Like I said before, If people go into the trail with unbalanced cars and even worse - Loaner cars, It's not necessarily the games fault if those players dont end up being successful.

There are ways it could be improved but the issue of Trails and the problems it has been discussed ad nauseam in this thread so I guess I'll leave it there šŸ˜„

The thing I can't wait to get done out of the way are the Playground Games... šŸ¤¢šŸ¤®
I even prefer doing my weekly round of the Eliminator than trying to not fall asleep and get kicked out of my one weekly round of PG games. Still, At least we dont have to win to get the Festival Playlist pointsšŸ¤—

Thought I'd 100% this series since min maxing is my only remaining trophy. I even bothered to get 100 miles with Bentley (twice because one time I got more than 90 miles reset)! But looks like I'm really bad at grinding the same game too hard for too long, so I lost my motivation half way through last season. This week I already got Mach 1 so now it feels so good not caring too much about events I don't want to complete. Gotta stop making myself do boring and dull events in the future, they are not worth it. Really looking forward to the next update with hopes of bug fixes. Two major ones for me are photomode exposure changes and skill chains being reset.

I also noticed that the traffic is much more common now! It's unstable but it's there. Anyone else?

I went back through seasons 1 and 2 just to see what was missing. Season 1 was the first three Arcades and one daily, Complete an Adventure. Season 2 is just the first Treasure Hunt. Iā€™m sure this is the same as just about everyone else. I told myself when this game debuted that I would not kill myself trying to 100% everything each week. Just get the items I want and not worry it and burn myself out, I said. And yet look at me, chasing 100% again.

I am the same but a little bit less dedicated. There is a saying in Russian about mice who were crying and hurting themselves but still continued to eat a cactus. That's exactly how I feel sometimes with the playlist.

To water down my negative comments here is a positive one. Jaguar XKR-S really surprised me with its handling in a good way. Very pleasant to drive, loved the responsiveness.

I'm a little surprised people are struggling with Spoilt for Choice. I got it on my first Open Racing event after the weekly refresh and moved on after that. Guess I lucked out this week.

For us that play some Open Racing from time to time I guess it was trivial, However there does seem that a lot of people who just don't enjoy online gameplay whatsoever maybe don't realise that the Open Racing can be quite fun at times and isn't too hard or sweaty at all, Lower classes especially so.

I went for solo Playground Games, easily won Flag Rush, been second in Infected, then easily won The King.

I'm really surprised how bad the other players were in my session šŸ¤”

Hi guys.

Just wondering, is it a bug that when you 'upgrade' the suspension, you get rid of the four wheel steering as well on some cars? (say, GTRs, Taycan, etc.)

The Eventlab thing this week is a totally uninspired "LoOk gUyS iT hAs JuMpZ" style thing just like what used to plague GTA Online, and on top of that it's so easy to "miss" the final checkpoint, it makes me wonder who picked this and why. Surely this isn't the best the community has to offer.

Unfortunately I actually wanted the 45 point car this week so I had to grind through this boring stuff this week. Can we all complain more so that they stop putting exclusive cars as the high point thing like they did in FH4?

I really can't find any other reason beside keeping those cars as rare as possible. Every car that requires gold is either impossible to snipe or goes for 20M on the AH. It's really hard not to think they want to push players to subscribe rather than rewarding those that spend more money.
The most annoying thing is that non Gold members are usually short of 1 point only to get the exclusive car. They even put dailies that requires Gold just to make sure others don't get the car.
In FH4 it was the same in the beginning and they changed things after many complains. They even lowered the requirements from 100% to 80%. Why they went back to locking cars behind Gold we will never know for sure. Orders from above?
Anyway I wish they will go back to FH4 model asap. I don't think players will complain. Maybe one or two.šŸ¤£
