I wasn't happy, but I'm happy now. Less points to score AND exclusive cars for 25 points? Fingers crossed this is not just to make extra advertising for these Chinese cars in Series 4. Sad to hear that the photo mode won't be fixed this time around though.
wait
i missed this, what exactly is the change to the points system

FWD cars have been given a bit of a much needed omph this time around I feel. They've always felt massively unspectacular, but the Mugen Civic CRX has always been a rocket regardless.
Yeah, I understand the buff/change to them, but I can't figure out the tunes that the folks in the 70s Civic RS are using to rocket ahead of everything else...

  • Every new exclusive car is now a 25 point rewards (at least for this month).
  • 45 point rewards are now 40 point rewards. So we can get both rewards without having to play multiplayer.
Thanks>

I wonder why they changed to to 45 initially in fh5 after they had changed it to be less in fh4.

Also i wonder when the expansion is. It feels weird to go this long without any news about it

Adding to that, the total amount of points in one season will be between 54 and 57 points. They removed all the PR stunts but if I heard correctly they will return in Series 5.

Maybe another chance for me to try and go for that min maxing achievement...

A bit of an underwhelming Let’s Go! but that’s because we already knew which new cars were coming. Sadly no news about the first expansion either, it would have been the perfect moment to drop some info. And I can’t believe nobody in chat asked about it. Or they just got ignored.

The highlights of both shows for me :

* In the Forza monthly they mentioned something about a partnership with something (I didn’t understand what that was), but the result was receiving a tuned and painted pink 2017 Ford GT in-game. This was not mentioned in the Let’s Go! stream anymore. Does anyone know what this was about?

* World Cup thing just seems to be fluff. You don’t really pick a team like you lock into a country for 4 weeks. The cars for playlist events are just limited to the 6 countries and you just pick one. I bet you can do one event in a German car, the next event in an Italian car, etc. And at the end of the 4 weeks every player gets the same reward, something from the winning country.

* Love it when Mike Brown says “dip the feed for a sec” when he is in the wrong season but the guy responsible for dipping the feed seemed to be sleeping. Always great to see some dev interface.

* The Lunar Livery Jag E-Type is nice. They sure give out livery cars quite fast, I think this is already the 7th so far?

* Interesting to know how far ahead they are working on seasons. Right now season 4 will be released, they are internally already testing season 5 and working on season 6 and up.

* Mike Brown said It takes about a year between talking to car manufacturers about adding a car to the game, and the car being in the game. I think way back in the FM6 days Dan Greenawalt said in an interview it was about 6 months? Maybe that was with the initial talks not taken into account, or else it just takes longer nowadays.

* Also good to hear those newer cars from brands like Audi, Mercedes, BMW etc seem to be coming. That was not really confirmed but... when you watch the stream the answer to that question does sound positive.

* More cars with working convertibles are coming.

* it seems most of the bugs that take a bit more time to fix will be part of series 5. I’ve got a feeling that after series 5 has dropped, the majority of the main launch issues are finally all fixed.

* Horizon Open will get an update in the future as well, devs are already working on something.

* Funny to hear you could pimp your IRL Mazda 323 back in the days in Japan by simply removing a screw. 😂

Anyway, looking forward to the update (it will drop tomorrow), to the new cars and then hopefully to some expansion 1 info in the not too distant future.

Ooh yeah, almost forgot, HokiHoshi was in the first show. I like that guy’s videos, but mostly his FH4 review (a few months before FH5 launched), or how he experienced all the FH games from 1 to 4 (FH5 was’t out then). I think he’s a great YouTuber, love his voice and channel and I assume he will get a new wave of followers thanks to today’s stream. Looking forward to his FH5 car reviews and test track as well.

The change to 45 points was probably directed by Microsoft.
They probably wanted to do so to keep Game Pass subscribers and to make multiplayer look even more thriving.
However, history repeats itself and due to negative feedback from the community, it was fix again.

Another reason, I guess, is that this update was made with the Chinese market in mind.
As evidenced by the review bombings on Steam, many gamers in this country are patriotic in both good and bad ways, and tend to use the review function as a place to express their opinions on developers and publishers.
If the update for them, and the main feature of the content was 45 point rewards, the negative feedback from their huge market could be more than we can imagine.
Microsoft and PG may have chosen to avoid that risk.

We have no complaints at all, though, because the result has been a lot of benefits for us.

PS:
The pink Ford GT can probably be redeemed with a code that comes with cosmetics and is only available in some countries.
I saw a post about this cosmetic on reddit a few weeks ago.

It is safe to assume then, that all the ridiculous music censoring and the weird livery bans are a part of microsoft's doing as well?

I honestly have no issues if each series update has a theme of sought, be it country, or a certain manufacturer, on anything. This can easy shine a spotlight on less used cars. For example, Mini themed update in FH4 really made me like both the buggy and the countryman.

I do hope that communication regarding issues improves though, although i feel that it was accentuated because they were on christmas holidays for some time.

Yes. I meant to write a piece about it a couple of weeks back but it got pushed back by other things:

I can't say that this is absolutely true, but I am sure that Microsoft's self-censorship is stricter than other publishers.
The issue with Chevrolet's "SS" is a case in point. There are many theories about this, but all racing games except Forza do not censor this badge and abbreviation. And that, of course, includes games released on the Xbox console, like NFS.

Well, this is not surprising considering the size of their company and the political correctness that thrives in the Western world in particular.
They are afraid of risk and engage in voluntary censorship that sometimes seems strange and excessive.

Heres the Lunar New Year E-Type.

Sees editable blueprint events

Me:

Excited Lets Go GIF by Team USA

I made a Beach Rallycross track when the game first launched, only to find out that the barriers I built blocked part of the AIs racing line. I finally get to fix it! :D
Yeah, I didn’t mention it in my bullet points because it was already known that the series 4 update included editable blueprints. But it’s indeed a massive feature and the best fix of series 4 IMO. I’ve never really gotten properly started with blueprints and events lab because you needed to create something in 1 go. Now being able to save your work and pick up on the next day is absolutely huge! I hope this will improve the quality of events lab content a lot.

Here is also a tip on the AI’s racing line: they usually follow your own driving line when you create the route. That’s also a reason to carefully drive when creating a route and make your driving line as smooth as possible.

Must... keep… 100% garage. 😅 Since I already got the Ford Deluxe FE from the controller (which was a really nice bundle, I like the exclusive emote probably even more than the car) I guess we can get this as well. 🙈 Yeah it’s nuts but FOMO + YOLO = #whatever 😄

Nothing shows up in-game yet but I assume it will once the patch goes live tomorrow.

Brian Ekberg said for FH3, it took 6 months from sourcing to production & polish and being available, so that probably doesn't include the actual talking & negotiating with the manufacturers.

9 months to a year lines up with what I've experienced. Cars take a long time to license, model, capture, attach physics to, optimise etc. Detail is higher than ever too, especially with fancy modes where you can open the doors and peek around.

If you look at DiRT Rally 2.0, the 2019 World RX season started in about April of that year, and the cars were released around December. It's impressive how fast F1 turns around cars every year, all thing considered (even if it is very different to grabbing road cars).

We understand each other.

I bought "The Pass is Always Greener" and "Sage Simulation." I'm just waiting for the email with my redemption code.

Sooo ummm...about that Mazda 323 GTR. Anybody here played Gran Turismo 2 where we driven it? As an ex-GT fan who still loves the franchise at heart (just not what it's become), you have no idea how happy I am to see Forza adding lots of cars from that franchise.

I'm very happy to hear the ability to edit blueprints is coming, I've had an idea I want to try but it would likely need more trial and error than I can do in a single session.

Also surprised we haven't heard anything about expansions yet, it makes me think they are planning on another extended development cycle for FH6.

I've seen the comments on YouTube and the Forza Horizon Subreddit complaining that the new cars are easier to get. Apparently those players aren't happy that non-XBOX Live Gold players can't be barred from getting new cars anymore.
