My closest ever loss.

So now that they've perfected 4x4 rollover physics, can we get a Suzuki Samurai to go along with it?
According to the suspension spreadsheet they accidentally left in FH5 (but since removed), they planned to have a 1991 Samurai at some point. Its ID is lower than the Audi S3 Sedan which came out as DLC all the way back in FM5, so... probably not coming at this point.

Just had a 4GB update on Steam.

FH5 Release Notes: July 5th, 2022 (Hotfix)

We're constantly working to improve the experience in Forza Horizon 5. Below you will find a summary of items fixed or improved upon in this update.

[PC only] General

  • Fixed an issue on PC platforms that prevented the Treasure Chest from spawning for some players after successfully completing a Treasure Hunt challenge. We're aware there are further issues with Treasure Chests which we're continuing to investigate.
Note:
In a future Forza Horizon 5 update, the Series 9 Treasure Hunt Summer challenge will be retroactively completed for all players. This will also grant the associated rewards.

Glad to get this fixed but 4GB just for that?

It's probably not just that. 4GB sounds like at least some of the content for the upcoming DLC being added ahead of time. Happy to hear about the fix, though. Not seeing a treasure chest is rather frustrating.

I get what you mean but the fact this is a PC only makes me think otherwise. I don't see why they would complicate the rollout for the DLC by including something in this PC only update that other platforms aren't receiving.

Nope, it's just the way that their tech works - without going into any detail, if the game executable changes, then a big chunk of the existing game content also changes very slightly and has to be re-downloaded. 4GB ends up being more or less the minimum patch size.

Oh, that's interesting to learn about. Huh. I was about to check into my game folder and see what exactly changed to speculate, but that explains it better.

So the new Nismo Z has all the Nismo bodyparts of the old 360-era 370Z that was already in game with said bodyparts...

At least there's a new kit, but like all things Varis, it's not necessarily the prettiest thing.

My guess is that we are kissing the old 370z goodbye from all the future games.

Exactly the reason why Forza should stop this "latest or fastest" rule with certain cars from a specific model family and/or generation. Even with newer, more advanced and later models, this does not render the older ones obsolete, and it's all a matter of preference of which car really speaks to players and possibly even owners the most.

I still remember the most notable car that was left out from modern Forza titles (starting with Motorsport 5) was the original Lamborghini Murcielago from 2005.

And the original Gallardo/superlegera.

I will admit I am starting to get a little excited for the Hot Wheels expansion. Everything I've seen so far looks great. I've even requested the 19th off from work so I can play uninterrupted. In the meantime, have some cell phone wallpapers courtesy of the Forza Horizon twitter feed.

Believe me I've been very impatiently waiting for Hot Wheels to release. As a World Race/Acceleracers fan, the map gives me so many vibes from those movies and the Deora II finally being here after all these years makes me want to cry.

The 19th is so close yet so far...oh, and I imagine on day one there will be countless replicas of this version of Deora II that was only ever in the first Acceleracers movie:

And perhaps the rule was applied in its most annoying form by Challenger and Charger.
In the past, the Challenger and Charger were SRT8 trims, and thus had more "modest" specs and were available in lower classes.

But now we are limited to the Demon or Hellcat trims for these two models.
Both of these trims are overpowered and have too high a stock PI.

I wish these cars had remained without all trim levels being removed as they have done to the 911, 458/488, and Huracan.

DJS is running a BAC Mono time trial competition on his Discord server for this newly created Wipeout-themed track. I skipped the preamble and jumped ahead to the track demo.

And here I am making semi-believable race routes and being happy when I can make events somewhat resemble the base races in the game. I dunno how some of these guys like DJS and the person who made this weeks EventLab race come up with this stuff, nor do I know how they can build it without reaching the build limit.

I've been downloading Hot Wheels replica liveries for most of the cars in Forza Horizon 5 for the Hot Wheels Expansion. Downloaded this livery for the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI GSR, which is based on the Hot Wheels Premium Forza Horizon 5 2022 Exclusive diecast.

That's a cool idea. I might have to crack out my box of hot wheels and do the same.

The thing I’m most excited for is that F1 looking car, have no idea what it’s called as I was never really into hotwheels, but I just really want a F1 car in Horizon, so if it has to be based off a child’s toy, so be it.

I’d love a f1 car, but seems like the best they want to do are the really vintage ones. A modern f1 car would be X class by default and not usable online really. The VW idr pikes peak car in FH4 was like S2 998.

A Hot wheels f1 style car lets them play around with that a bit.

For sure I absolutely agree, it would be default X class and just be used for messing around the map or specially made events, but still an actual modern F1 car would be nuts. I’d want the Mercedes AMG W11 🤓

Imagine driving one of these up Las Cascadas in the wrong direction.

That's the Bad 2 to the Blade. It is my understanding is supposed to be like an F1 car of the future.

Photo Mode has been frustrating over the past couple games. In the first three games, it was super easy. Just hit pause and there was photo mode. They took it out of the pause menu completely for the last game. It’s back but buried deep in the pause menu for this game. Worse, in a strange, Quality-of-Life affecting bug that PG seem to have no intention of fixing, you can’t photograph a car with the wheels turned. Or can you? Yes you can. I figured out how to do it through rigorous testing and experiment- Ha Ha no. I looked it up on Reddit like everyone else. But I don’t recall it being discussed here, so for the two or three people who haven’t figured it out ahead of me, here’s how you do it.

First, enter solo mode. This won’t work in Horizon Life. Go do your crazy drifting or whatever, then rewind to before the shot you want to take. Instead of hitting “resume from here”, hit replay. Pause at the moment you want to photograph. Now you select “take a picture” and it’s photo mode like normal except your car has its wheels turned like a real car and everything. It’s a big dumb workaround for a problem that shouldn’t even exist, but at least the workaround is there.
