They kinda, dropped the ball with the January series by calling it FORDathon and not adding any new Ford's to the game. I guess the new Nissan Z will show up in Forza Motorsports now before it shows up in Forza Horizon 5. Same thing will probably also happen with the new Mustang. Looking forward to the Furry though in December.

I'm wondering if it's the title car for the DLC
That could actually happen also, but if not I think is will show up in Forza Motorsports first before it show up in FH5.

At the one year mark in H4’s lifetime, we got the eliminator update which (funny enough) included a bunch of Renault’s just like this, except most of them were actually new to the series in some way like that Clio RS16. By that point we were still receiving about four entirely new to forza cars per playlist, about six in total when accounting for recycled cars from previous games. At H5’s one year mark we’re now averaging between 0 and 2 new cars per series, and while I enjoy them, it does feel like somewhat of a steep dropoff in comparison considering the crew working on this will likely only get smaller and smaller.

I was kind of rooting for a Toyota-style Fiat/Alfa/Lancia return as a holiday surprise, but alas…

As always, never get your hopes up and all that jazz…

I would have liked to have seen the Clio V6 with the Renaults and maybe a returning Ford or two (XB Falcon? ‘92 Falcon GT? Thunderbird?) with the Ford festivities, but all that being said I like what’s returning.

I highly doubt it will show up in Motorsport before Horizon. We are still a good ways out from motorsport and it has literally been teased on Torben Tuesday. I don't recall a time when they've shown a car in Torben Tuesday clues and it not happened in the same game.

Honestly, I’m done with FH5 at least for the near future. I don’t know if it’s burnout from playing too much or how trash PG and their support is or a combo of both, but today killed what little excitement I had for this game. I’ll jump in to get the new rewards cars but otherwise PG and the game can screw off.

I had a similar thing happen with FH4 as well, but that happened more than 2 years after the game came out, not just a year like with FH5. I know that nothing will change as long as FH is as successful as it currently is, but god I wish PG got new management cause the current direction they’ve been going towards is not it.

I've tried the trial and here's what my thoughts on NFS, the credits earning are a bit difficult to get. You need to grind, but not to the point of boredom. There is also store section on the game. But they haven't opened it yet as by now.
...interesting. Maybe it's locked at the moment due to the multiplayer not being available at this time(?) Maybe it's just a storefront to pay and access DLCs.

Another two-series run of yet more rehashed content? Cripes. This is quite disappointing. And no new Nissan Z? That is very disappointing. At least we got some more new New-to-Forza cars.

At this point they should release a second car pass.

It really isn't abominable. All of the cars I'm quite happy are coming back as are many others here, I'm sure.

Reward cars look pretty hit and miss. New ones look sorta interesting but the increasing returning content coming back from the last game that really should have been in from the very start is getting to a point where it becomes laziness on the dev's part.

At least it won't be as hugely irritating as the Donut Media voice-overs.

It is. And PG has no interest in adding even production versions of existing concept cars or even ones from FM7 and before due to licensing problems. So are trendy sports cars but I guess it takes longer to license them.

The management needs a rework, and fast.

And while we're on that subject they should've added several Fords that were lost. Not ones from FH4.

And honestly they should start focusing on other manufacturers like Infiniti, Volvo, and other brands like Genesis for example. That might be an issue though...

But still, one or two recycled cars are good enough. Too much and it's a problem. They should have flogged them as 40-point rewards.

You have no idea what PG has an interest in and what they don't. It all comes down to licensing, in 99% of cases. You state that they should add several Fords that were lost, but then go on to say not ones from FH4 and then complain about recycled content. Adding Fords that were lost is what exactly?

You can't have your cake and eat it too. Cars being removed from one game and either never to be seen again or added back later on has been a thing since FM1 and FM2 it isn't going to change and there are probably much more complex reasons for it then any of us on this site have any knowledge of.

A change in management would accomplish what, exactly? Maybe something, may be nothing, because in the end it comes down to what they are allowed to add for licensing or what gets cut for whatever reason they have, it probably isn't due to laziness, more likely it is to keep production costs and such down.

To be honest, I have not yet watched the show, but after reading many derisive comments about the latest update, please allow me to posit this general question: Since any new (or recycled) content apparently only brings more grief than praise, would you be OK if in the future FH switched to a full GaaS model like The Crew 2, where the newest content costs either real money or exorbitant amounts of in-game currency?

I do agree that the current model may be reaching it's limits, but still, I'm thankful that PG is still bringing, and will continue to bring content to the game. And if anyone feels exhausted at this point, that is OK too.

I'd rather see a return to a little thing that many people forgot used to exist: proper paid DLC packs. Where you would only get the newest cars in a pack for a reasonable sum of real money. Forza Motorsport used to do those for a long time. GaaS is its own can of worms that has worn down many games to where they demand you commit to them like a second job.

My reaction to all the new and returning cars:

@Stang616, I wanted to elaborate: Those "lost Fords" I was talking about are the likes of the '95 Mustang Cobra R and the Country Squire, both of which have never materialized again in current Forza titles. There's a GTX1 and a '57 T-Bird in the files, but there is a 100% chance it will not be in the game at all or any other future Forza for that matter.

I know licensing plays a role, and I am aware that it's complex.

P.S. Regrettably edited my previous statement.

There isn't a 100% chance they won't be in the game at all, you assume that there is, just like most of your previous posts. The lost Fords you refer to would still be 'recycled' content, in your opinion, so you have contradicted yourself. The '95 Cobra R is in FM7, which is the current iteration of Forza Motorsport, so you are wrong there as well.

I hope I didn’t sound overreactive, but the only point I had is that whereas the last GaaS type release lifecycle we had with FH4 was supplemented by bringing back cars, it feels like that has taken over the same release cycle with 5. The cars they do add are exciting as always, but when that’s a fraction of what we were normally receiving in the same period of time, idk but it feels off in a way.

I'm fine with bringing cars back - it happened in FH4 and it was fine there IMO. I just hope that if there are cars coming back - they're at least loosely themed and are paired with at least 1 New to Forza car. And that there's more than just 3/4 recycled cars per update.

I think generally peoples complaints stem from a couple things

  • Full series only containing recycled cars - which was few and far between for FH4 at this stage of it's lifecycle. It wasn't until Year 2/Year 3 did the updates start only containing 3/4 cars and very few new to Forza cars.
  • Updates only containing 3/4 cars total. We had many series in FH4 that were 6, 7 and even 8 cars large. I don't think people would be complaining so much if we got 8 recycled cars vs 4 like in Donut Media.
I also think we'd be seeing a lot less complaints if FH5's launch car list was stronger - there's still so much missing from FH4 even after 1 year of car updates.

If FH5 started with say 560 or 600 cars - then we wouldn't have like 150+ cars to make up from FH4 + anything New to Forza or from FH3/FM7. Of course that can't be changed now, but yeah I think FH5 would be in a better position for it.

Also by this point FH4 had the Eliminator update, the update to introduce the Festival Playlist itself and quite a few new other features added (multi-piece rims being able to be coloured different, photo mode updates).

For FH5 we haven't really seen the same level of new features, other new content and QOL stuff coming to the game IMO which I think has also affected public opinion on the updates. I hope they improve in 2023.

The next "big thing" for FH5 is expansion 2, which should be coming out in S17, which is February.
Expansion 2 will need to be somewhat of a fan favorite, in order to gain back some goodwill/tone down the negativity regarding this game online.
They aren't helping themselves either, by teasing a Nissan Z, while not having it in the upcoming updates. The mismatched theme + reward cars also don't help. Neither does the fact that the gap between expansions has almost tripled (3 months to 9 months).

Luckily for them, they don't have any competition right now. NFS unbound doesn't have a long enough story to last more than a couple of weeks, and pretty much nothing in terms of post game. The crew 2 is pretty much forgotten by most.

I just hope they become more consistent with atleast 4 to 6 "new" cars to the game (half of which must actually be new), with a story or major feature every other update. Feels like the 2nd half of 2022 has sucked out all the momentum PGG were riding on after the HW expansion. I think some of this backlash could have been controlled if they played smart and had T10 show off the new FM every other month to keep the hardcore fans distracted, but instead they fumble repeatedly.

Also why the hell aren't they promoting Eventlabs harder. It could literally be the shot in the arm this game needs. Just give it a dedicated menu tab with a better search system and a eventlab browser, with custom thumbnails or something. They can easily coast on player made content, while highlighting the best of the community creators. All this just feels like the main team are working on something else (mostly expansion 2 and/or FH6) and FH5 is supported with a skeleton crew.
