Well it sounds that Forza 2 is nearing completion, based mostly on that of the short blurb in this months EGM. Listed in the "Winter 2007" category, there were a few new, very pretty screen-shots featuring the Lotus Elise, a '69 Pontiac GTO, and a 2005 Pontiac GTO/Holden Monaro. As pretty as GTHD? Not quite there, but scary close, certainly better than PGR3 (already damn-good).

The article points to community features like we have never seen before, "We're planning to break new ground by making the community site a true extension of the game itself," said Greenawalt in the EGM interview. Whats special? New forums and boards, game-to-internet photo stuff like PGR3, and more in-depth stat stuff that numbers folks always love.

It isn't too far away, but it can't come soon enough for me... I got the itch the other day to pull out Forza 1, and it was great. I can't wait for the sequel...

This is not related to any game material for Forza 2. It's that more information about the "Forza Motorsport Showdown" on Speed Channel. Apparentely, this is a race between six real drivers in six real cars... all going for $100,000. More information here: < http://origin.speedtv.com/programs/473/ >. There's supposed to be four episodes according to the link I provided.

As I mentioned in my last post, I admit to being a Forza hater. I went from "there's no chance Forza is better than GT" to "the GT series and Forza are just about alike, give or take differences among them." I eventually clicked when I finally got to realize what this series provides to XBOX gamers. The only real updated trailer I seen featured a few things that caught my eye. First of all, maybe a dozen cars on track. The featured car for most of the trailer was a white/silver/orange Nissan 350Z customized race car. The track included was interesting- Sebring. I have great respect for the Sebring race course including the 12-hour spectacular during Spring Break. I think the inclusion of Sebring greatly benefits Forza's race car lineup since you have Houston's own (not to mention Texas' own) Risi Competizione. Some of the LMP cars in Forza 1 would look GREAT on this XBOX360 brand of Forza coming soon. The demo featured cars ranging from the Honda/Acura NSX to a Tommykaira Skyline (forget what they are called nowadays from Tommykaira). I'm guessing that Forza 2 will increase the diversity of cars in addition to having about 300 cars. So this is a big step up by the Turn 10 crew. Suffice to say, this "friendly rivalry" will probably see Forza 2 get the advantage in the next-gen racing game rivalry once this bad boy ships.

wait wait.. on the box of the game it'll say two things...

24 race tracks (not mentionning that you'll in fact be able to race on 12 tracks, front and reverse ;) )

second, you'll be able to download a ****load more tracks within a few months (and cars, lets not forget) for a good price *wink wink*

1. The release date is good news.

2. The track list is bad news. If that's all I'll be racing at, that's pretty damn lame.

I'd agree that the date is pretty decent, so we've got four months left, I guess that is better than God-knows how long for the next GT.

On the issue of the track list, I would expect it to expand shortly, as it is presumably a preliminary list. I'm sure there will be more MGS-created tracks, and maybe a few more licensed ones to be added. What I would like to see it a car list, but that won't happen for a while.

While it may be a better, I can promise you that GT5 will have more cars and tracks at launch than Forza 2 will have released total combining it's original assets and it's downloadable content.

Except that I smell a marketing scheme. I think those tracks will fit perfectly into the game, it's just Turn10 keeping them out to re-release them on the Marketplace for more money.

In other words, pull an EA.

According to the folks at Turn 10:

ForzaMotorsport.net
A final thought to keep in mind, and it's something I've already mentioned on the forums earlier this week, is that with reams of track reference data for much more than just these 12 environments, our track artists will continue to be working and cranking out content even after our game ships. In other words, expect downloadable content in the form of both tracks and cars in the months following FM2's release. Will it be free? We don't know and can't say for sure right now but whatever it ends up becoming, we at Turn 10 aim to do right by the community. Definitely no horse armor here, folks.

So they acknowledge that it is a short list, and they will be expanding it shortly. I'd say thats alright. I'd like to see more real-world tracks like Long Beach, Watkins Glenn, etc but I imagine that is still up in the air as to what can be done, and what cannot.

You can read the full post here, which also includes some stuff about multiplayer as well.

Even if that is their tactic it isn't stopping me from getting this game. It's so on in May, my semi-wireless wheel can't wait.

I hope Forza Motorsport 2 makes use of the pictures on the Hard Drive, so you can add a range of pictures to the game as decals.

Porn decal's on your car........excellent idea Jamie!

Spec....
If they allowed people to add custom pictures to the game, and then use them as decals, then I reckon Porn would be filtered out in some way.

are you crazy? Hey, if I spent 60€ on a game I might as well be able to put any kind of decal I wish...

You know what would be really nice? Porn decals on the sides, and when the windows go up and down, the images go up an down too. That'd be awesome.

The graphics arn't incredible, they're better than XB and PS2 graphics, but what little I've seen of GT:HD outclasses this graphically. I still have high hopes for the game though, the graphics are still good, but not outstanding.

I'm not sure why people foucs so much about graphics on either console , for me whats Important is Game play , what do you think of a game that has bad game play but fantastic graphics? not that GT has bad game play .

Better graphics and effects equal better immersion. Ofcourse great graphics and poor gameplay is pointless, GT4 imo had pretty poor gameplay, but great graphics. At the end of the day though, as time goes by better graphics is a must, regardless of what overall is the most important factor. Forget the concept of better graphis or better gameplay, we should be getting both.

look at genki, alright graphics and excellent gameplay. It does mater but not as much as most people believe...

Forza 2 tweaked for upscaled 1080p.
forums.forzamotorsport.net
No idea if that's important or not. I think all 360 games can be played in upscaled 1080p if that's your display resolution choice. But it's interesting to note that it is being tweaked all the same.
