If the cars look like they are now, then I guess I'll be fine, but I would think they'd have some hi-res textures for crying out loud. I mean, that's a given.

Are you sure? What if they want to drastically improve the number of cars on track, with damage, and a newer physics engine, with improved AI?

Do you really think the 360 is a chunk of god? They have to make sacrifices *somewhere* to really improve the experience.

Yes, I'm sure. It'd be like having a game with no 720p compatibility.

But if I'm wrong, and there's no hi-res textures, then that's a big 👎.

No, I don't think it's a chunk of God, but I do think it's capable. PGR3 has 8 cars on track, with damage (though light), hi-res textures, blah blah blah. And that's a 1st gen game. I would think that adding 4 more cars on track, a bit more sophisticated damage and physics system isn't going to tap the system so much to make the developers leave out hi-res textures.

With all of the features they are touting in their CG videos, it would be extremely difficult for them to waste valuable memory on textures, considering the 360 has shared memory architecture, it's probably causing problems for them balancing visuals and everything else. Don't be surprised.

Maybe so... but I hope there's no compromise.

are there going be more race cars, or more in A- and B-class? because, personally, i wish that they would add bmw M5, and mercedes-benz E55 and SL65 AMG

We don't know anything about the cars, except that Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porsche, McLaren (I think), and BMW will be in it.

Well, the images look "good" but not something that is mind-blowing like PGR3. Thats allright, as it still looks like an early build, so I'll take the "wait and see" approach for right now...

I agree with you. The pics look good but not PGR3 good. I attached some links that show that PGR3 really looks much better than Forza 2 so far. Heather and I will still be putting our Pre-orders down today regardless of what the graphics look like.

Look at the pics Diablo posted from this site from PGR3.

DRIFTGOD also has a lot of great pics of PGR3.

I hope that FORZA2 will have the quality of this PGR3-pics:

Well, looks like we may have to wait... Again...

GameSpot.com
Forza 2 backs into 2007?

Source: A Forza Motorsport 2 thread over on the Gaming Age forums.

What we heard: One phrase Xbox-owning racing fans are no strangers to is "Forza Motorsport is delayed." The game was first shown off at E3 2004 and was expected to ship that holiday season. Then it was delayed...and delayed again...and delayed again.

So it likely comes as little surprise that its successor is in the rumor mill as also being a victim of delays. Forza Motorsport 2 for the Xbox 360 was scheduled to be released this November, in time for both the holiday rush and the release of the Xbox 360 wireless steering wheel. Now, according to a post over on the forums at Gaming Age, it appears Forza 2 won't hit the streets until 2007.

In a message board thread debating the authenticity and looks of some new screenshots for the game, a poster going by the handle of "chespace" hopped into the mix, confirming that the shots were indeed real. In a subsequent post, he wrote "Forza 2 will no longer ship in Holiday 2006 -- a new date will be given at X06." He also says the game "is far from finished" and the screenshots are part of a "work-in-progress."

Of course regulars to the Gaming Age boards know "chespace" as Che Chou, former editor at popular print publication Electronic Gaming Monthly and current community manager for Forza 2.

Announcing the delay of the game on public forums seems like an odd place to do so, and quickly scouring the official Forza 2 forums turns up only a few peeps referencing the post on Gaming Age. Mr. Chou may have leaked the info a bit prematurely, as inquiries into Microsoft were stonewalled.

The official story: "Microsoft has not announced anything at this time."--Microsoft spokesperson.

Bogus or not bogus?: Nothing is official yet, but Rumor Control isn't waiting--the game is almost certainly delayed. Not bogus.

Uh-Oh. This has been a bad-news day all day today...

Seriously people, did I not tell you that there was only a snowballs chance in hell that it would come out in november?

But nooooo....don't listen to me. lol.

It won't be here any time before march 2007 at it's earliest.

The target is 60fps with HDR. its possible but there are going to be major graphics cuts to get that. two out of the 6 racing games right now run at 60fps, burnout and Ridge Racer. Moto gp has mad slowdown but is rated at 60 and looks like crap compared to the screens.

Still cars look like plastic. Test drive U does better car paint emulation.

I agree with what you said, but PGR3 has a ton better framerate than Burnout. No choppiness at all whatsoever.

TDU have no self shadow & the reflexion is very poor. The animation of the spring on the road is non-existant & it run at 25FPS with a very unstable framerate.

I just care about the physic & the 60fps in FOrza 2. I hope they will be good so I can enjoy races online.

And why would we listen to someone who is generally anti-Microsoft?

PGR3 may have better graphics but it also has NO tuning and forza will most likely have more cars.

Tuning or not, I just like to race. You'll see me running with lower spec car against a tuned car & put it to shame. :sly:

If you believe too much on the tuning, you'll end up get beaten up in several races. I have a feeling that all the PGR3 elite will jump on Forza 2 to be remain on the top of the leaderboard.

Tuning might help a bit, but you're not the only one who can tweak around. :P

Because I happen to know what I'm talking about? YIKES!

Let's just say on occasion a little birdie speaks to me about some of these things, and I drop you guy's hints.

...R U SHUR U RNT tha_con?

(lol)

I only said car paint. What do the other things have to do with the paint?

yssman. noted that weeks ago.

Bizarre said that PGR3 used only one of the 3 cores of the XBOX360. Also PGR3 was never expected to be a programming masterpiece, it was a launch title and it had a very tight deadline. Bizarre has a smaller team than Turn10 it's a third party developer. PGR3 ran at 30FPS and had limited damage, car interiors, high polygon cars, 3D spectators and the most detailed environments ever seen in a racing game. PGR3 has high resolution textures, HDR, motion blur and a plethora of other special effects. How? British talent, determination and hard work.

If 1 year and 3 months later, which it will be in March 2007, FM2 should have the same visuals as PGR3 at 60FPS, if not better. Visual upgrades, physics, AI, full damage and 4 more cars are no excuse for compromise and visuals worst than PGR3. Why? FM2 should utilise all 3 XBOX360 cores. FM2 is not a rushed launch title, it's had a long time in the making, since work on FM2 started straight after FM. FM2 is an in-house developed game. Turn10 has a bigger team than Bizarre, and undoubtedly better funded. Turn 10 has been allowed to use ideas, research and experience built by Bizarre while making PGR3. Oh and FM2 will not have car interiors, which will save a lot of developing work and in-game computing power. No excuses please.

I was clicking around the Forza website today and I didn't see any signs of a pushback of the release date. Although there has never really been an "offical" release date set by Microsoft, websites like GameSpot, IGN, EB Games/GameStop, and Amazon point twards the release date of November 1st or 2nd (a Wednesday or Thursday). On the other hand, 1UP/EGM is saying it will be out before March 2007, probably... As there isn't anything offical comming from Microsoft.

Meh, I'd like to have it as soon as possible, but no rush if it isn't done...
