Playing FM3 today... make some good progress on the campaign... and guess what... just take a guess any guess what happened next...

RROD!

I thought it would never happen to me. I had my friends launch console which had been runnin just fine up until 20 minutes ago... I never realized how much it would hurt but man it hurts. I now know why people got soooo angry. Ugh... so much for the LCE edition I bought.

Ventured into multiplayer for the first time today (was online all the time in FM2). I must say, as fun as the drift mode is, you really have to find the right people.

I had a few good sessions, then left to join another game.... I was getting knocked all over the track. The high scores were all people drifting down the straights as long as possible to keep the cores going. Maybe it's just me, but I'm not one to milk the games flaws just because I can. After that I spent some time jumping from room to room. In most rooms, once they notice you are good at drifting, you're kicked out, so they don't lose their precious ranking.

Really seems like you need to keep it to your friends list, or it's chaos.

;)

M. Rossi doesn't lose races. He chooses not to hit you.
M. Rossi punts because he's slower that way.
M. Rossi can use the rewind feature.

If anyone ever needs to release a little anger...The Playground - Tag (Keep the IT). 👍

Who hoo, finally got 920 of the gamer-points.... just have the abysmally large amount of races left. Albeit I use B-spec Mark.(yeah Ill call him that)

I've noticed this too, I was in a room recently where every single person who did well got kicked except for me. I've no idea why they didn't boot me but I kept winning and they decided not to bother :dunce:

Indeed. Happened to me at least 10 times. I had a blast drifting with a few friends (although they weren't very good at drifting), but I was looking for someone to tandem drift with, but ended up finding more people interested in getting points at all costs, rather than drifting for *gasp* fun...

I need more people on my friends list that can drift well. Most of the time, I have to wait after every corner because they've spun out, or are just having a hard time keeping up.

That's pretty much how I see any game online and the bigger the game the worse it often is. I gotta imagine GT5 will be 10 times worse online that Forza is just do to it's size. Halo and Modern Warfare have show me this in spades.

Honestly, I didn't have too many problems with Forza 2 online. However, there was no drift mode for online play, either. This kind of mode definitely seems to attract the rabble...

Quick question...

I have only ventured into multiplayer once thus far, so excuse me if this is a stupid question...

When setting up an online race/drift, how do you set it so anyone can join in (this was the default setting in Forza 2). So far, I have only been able to either join a race/drift currently in session, or create a private race, and invite people from my friends list. If I started a private race, and didn't invite anyone, would anyone be able to join?

Tenacious D
The really sad part about this is you have to pay $50 a year for this privilege.

I would be with you on that one, if I hadn't won a contest last year, of which the prize was 2 years of Xbox Live. I still have over a year left.

Not to mention, everytime I buy a new game, it seems they include 1 to 3 months of Gold just for purchasing the game...

You can't set up lobbies unless it's for a private game. This is the main complaint about the game as you can now only join random games, nobody can set one up how they like it for the public to join. Turn 10 are flat out refusing to put it back in and refuse to accept that it was a stupid decision on their behalf.

That is most unfortunate...

At least 10 people on my friends list were random encounters in Forza 2.

Looks like I need to invite more friends...

I've just been watching a few videos on Youtube from guy's who are lets say, less than pleased with Forza 3, seems if you post any, and I mean ANY criticism of the game, no matter how small, your post is deleted and you are banned from the official forums, strange.

I've watched loads of Forza 3 videos in an effort to convince myself to buy a 360 as I await GT5, and I can honestly say, I haven't seen one that would convince me to part with my cash, so can someone tell me, are the videos on youtube an accurate portrayal of the game? They seem to come from people who like the game so I don't think they are deliberately making them look bad, etc.

While GTP isn't like this (at least with the deletion and bannation of accounts) the attitude is the same way with many members. I'm pretty sure you aren't allowed to criticise GT games at all without being jumped on by a thousand screaming fanboys. So lets not be biased here.

And I've never been able to figure out how any game can have an accurate portrayal through videos. Isn't the whole point of the game to have interaction? You must know someone with a 360 you can at least try the demo out on to see if you like the game.

I believe the uploaded replays are compressed quite a bit, so no they're not an accurate portrayal of what the game looks like but the only way to find out if you like it or not is to play it!

I get away with criticising GT4 all the time. I did when it was newly released too. I think there are a group of mostly newer members (newer as in joined after GT4 came out) that are too quick to jump on criticism. Personally I don't mind criticism, if it's thought out. I'll let someone critcise GT for the right reasons, same I would Forza. But baseless criticism I will jump on, be it GT or Forza that is being criticised. But from my experince and I have taken part in plenty of Forum discussions over the years beside GTP, GTP is one of the mildest around. There's still bias, but it's much more controlled bias than you get elsewhere. The fact that a few of the mods are happy to criticise GT games be it specific iterations or problems/ flaws that have been consistent throughout only highlights this. There is bias, but it's not as uncontrolled as other sites, some of which actually try to stimulate the bias.

I suppose my annoyance with all of it comes from the "Gran Turismo, it's serious business" attitude that always crops up. It seems like whenever I say X game did something better I get flamed. It way I rarely venture into the GT forums.

Send me a FR, I'm apart of a team at fm.net and tandeming is pretty all I do. I can get you in a session with them so you can add more people who drift to your list.

That is hilarious! I can see a team of BMW X5's in Germany livery versus a team of Range Rover's in England livery, with the little Rabbit painted with black and white hexagons... England lose on the pen shootout, obviously.

It used to be something like that with FM2, but isn't the case anymore. They'd have banned half of the FM3 section if so.

Thank you. I will do that...
