And now we are there again... If you aren´t interested in the game more about whining about how much better PD is then turn10 or vice versa this is not the place. Some are just after the game you know not trying to decide if you are going to be a catholic or christian :D. If you are an atheist you can enjoy the best of every religion without getting to involved :)

As for rally I would love it if it´s done good. I mean RBR there is nothing that beats it and it looks like it won´t be for a good while either :(. I much rather take that then trying to race SUVs. I just can´t see how it can be fun so that is a plus for GT 5 in my book. Nascar though I couldn´t care less but again if it´s done good it sounds at least more fun then drag racing lol. so 2-0 to GT here in theory. But it all depends how good it´s done. Forza 3 has the classics cars. Mentioned on some E3 interview so dunno what type of classic cars it means. I am hoping for a lot of old american muscle cars like Ford Mustang, Ford Falcon, Camaro, Chevrolets since they are so fun wrestling around the track with their oversized handling and less then stellar handling :)

As for weather of course I would die for that too as long as it´s not just cosmetic. For This type of game since you are probably not going to sit in the same car all the time it´s not a dealbraker for me. Forza 2 was hardly the perfect racing title for endurance racing where I really want dynamic weather. Haven´t run the previous GT titles but it seems not even possible on the Prologue?

Speaking of classic cars I hope they get the proper 250 GTO in and not the '64 type again.

I wish they'd actually show us some more cars instead of showing up Le Mans videos.

I'm not too fussed if it doesn't have weather, the only time I race in the rain in GTR is when I'm just screwing around, not when racing properly. Rain adds to the realism, but in reality you also have a race team deciding when you should pit, pit timeing becomes a massive issue when racing in dynamic weather.

Che was polite and gave a straight answer clarifying the rally/weather/day-night question.
What you saw is a once in a lifetime. He normally doesn't like anything compared to Forza, so he blasts it & flexes his mod powers if he feels his point is being picked apart.

Hey Mclaren, what happened to that Lexus IS-F thread at Forza Central?

*Edit sorry I mean the modelling errors thread

Oh and apparently there is some news coming up soon (today or tommorrow).

Maybe that's when you call your dad or your mom :) But seriously, it's a freaking game and it doesn't require that much effort to determine all that and if becomes too overwhelming, keep reminding yourself that it's a game and you're suppose to have fun. And if you make a mistake, it's not as if you're going to piss off the sponsors.

You totally missed my point :P If you have weather effects in real life, you'll have people looking constantly at the weather forecast trying to make sure you stay on slicks as long as possible, swap to intermediates if it starts to drizzle, get on to full wets if needed and make sure you're ready to come back in to swap back to intermediates if the rain eases up.

Personally I'd find it annoying if the game had dynamic weather and you're out racing and the weather changes suddenly and you swap to the wrong tire then lose the race because of it. I know that sort of stuff happens in real life, but in real life you have a team of weather dudes trying to make sure you're on the right tire. I want the "real driving simulator" not the "real weather predicting simulator".

Who is the better judge of the traction? The one that is actually driving on the track knows exactly where it´s slippery and if he can handle it on slicks or not. If wet tires would melt or not in current conditions. Of course race engineers have weather reports but they are wrong 50 % of the times still. Look at the f1 races when rain comes in :).

So it´s a collaboration. As in real life sometimes it´s on the limit rain or no rain and then no weather forecast in the world helps so it´s a gamble in real life too. The only difference is that you make the decision yourself not together with the race engineer. So I don´t see why that would be a reason not to include it? It´s not that hard to include a spotter either like in rFactor... That is pretty damn cool actually it should be a feature in every racing game. Tells you lap times, race position, being careful when you went off track and are going in again. When your tires getting worn you can swear at the guy because you knew that already etc etc.

Also in several sims you also have weather forecast. That give you an idea but like in the real world are not 100 % correct all the time.

It was moved to the mod forum for reasons I don't know.

I disagree, I know you addressed the realism aspect, but I would argue that its such an important aspect of racing, that console sims should have it. It's my main problem with lfs, its a great sim, my favourite but it would be much better with the addition of rain.

I haven't played forza's main game mode in depth, so I can't really comment on whether the series really needs it, but for Gran Turismo at least, it really is about time.

GT features some pretty big endurance races, and a huge feature of endurance races is normally that a big black cloud comes along and shakes up all the order again, de-rubbers the track, and generally makes things more involved. Sure in a 10 minute race its kind of pointless, but 24h of la sarthe could really do with dynamic weather to help keep things interesting.

Strategy wise, it can be as involved as you make it, if it starts raining, you change tyres, some people will want to pinch laps wherever they can others won't. Since there are indeed no pit crews, then perhaps a little weather predictor could be used, it doesn't have to be a description, it could be a little box with a symbol dictating predicted weather, it could be updated every 15 minutes. That shouldn't be too complicated for anyone to use. As long as they understand about what tyres are used when (Not too hard to learn the basics) I can't see any real issues.

The only picture that has been disturbing since the beginning is the side picture of the black BMW. The 2nd picture down from the top. Forza 3 makes it look all dented looking while in real life its perfectly straight. Other than that pic the rest look really good.

Real life - FM3 comparison

I'm guessing it's probably a distorted reflection of something.

The M3 coupe has a carbon fiber roof to lower the center of gravity. That's the reason the its roof is flat/matte black.

Yes I am sure they know why it has a CRP roof, but they mean why does it refect so little compared to the real life photo.

IMO to be fair the locations and lighting are completely different but I don't think you would see that level of reflection in FM3 simulated anyway.

The roof on the real car is laquered hence the reason it's shiny and reflective, they appear to have just given the roof general carbon fibre properties texture wise for Forza.

You know what would be awesome? If they quit showing screen shots of the same cars over and over again.

Well It's probably a good thing they do show the same cars for now atleast, it's always nice to get the game and not know everything about it.

Oh and tfujiwara btw, the little ascii R33 Skyline in your sig has the exhaust on the wrong side, R33's exhausts are on the left :)

I don't know, I'm getting tired of seeing that Audi. It's not even remotely exciting in real life let alone in a digital format.

I would at least like Turn 10 to keep going with their teasers. We got the Japanese cars now how about the European and American ones? They don't need to show screens of every car but I would like to see something a bit different so I know what to expect and to see if the car list is any good. There have been numerous games *cough* NFS *cough* that have had rather lackluster car lists which sort of defeats the point of a racing game.

I think they're on the way, apparently turn 10 officially release new info every second tuesday and it's due this upcoming tuesday. This article was for a website so microsoft probably supplied some new images of previously announced content. I think it is likely we will see Europeon and American (hopefully Australian too :P) themed updates soon.

I agree with you about the Audi, I don't mind the car in general but I am sick of seeing it especially considering it looks the same as the V8 R8. If Audi want to keep their foot in the door with new content then show some different models.

Edit

Che has said they will have a podcast for tuesday and will show of new cars.

It's good to see that they've delivered huge amounts of online options - hopefully this pushes PD to do great things. And it sounds like it'll be easy to one-up them; cat and mouse lol what a terrible idea....it works in burnout because the game is designed from the ground up for things like this but it's just going to be a cluster**** in a game designed as a real-life racing sim.

To be honest a lot of PGR players moved on to Forza so it's probably a nod to them and the more casual gamers. I might try it a few times but there are other additions that are higher on my priority list.
