I like how the Datsun's wheels are magically stuck to the car.

That's really the only thing that made me go, "Huh?".

Well someone posted this

Che responded that it was a mistake and won't be final, so I'm cautiously optimistic.

No game looks real, seriously what are you expecting?
In general, no game does, but there are times where humans do have to take a double take. GT5 is 1 of the perfect examples of it; the lighting & detail can give it a very realistic look if given the right angle.

Exactly. 👍

GT has never made me do a double take, I am very aware I am watching game footage or looking at an in game picture. Granted GT looks excellent, but all of the cars have some insane amount of wax on them and are very shiny. Not to mention everything has a under exposed look to it.

Forza has the opposite problem, all cars look like they've been stripped of their clear coat and and have a over exposed look to them.

I would hardly classify either realistic.

Yeah i actually fooled some people already with some pics (and also for a short time with the presentation videos in the GT5P menu).
FM3 still has the lighting/reflection flaws and the unrealistic colors.

Game looks good though, but it misses that "real" touch.

EDIT: @Joey, think of average people. I also dont have a problem recognizing whats game and whats real, with no game.

That's you. I've actually been fooled a few times.

I agree the cars are too shiny though, but who knows if GT5 will contain dirt and dust?

Good for you, then. But just because it's never made you do a double take, doesn't suddenly prove your point that no game looks real. I am not the only one on this site that has admitted to having to do a double take at GT5.

Please note the last part of my post as well; given the right angle. I am in no way saying it always looks real.

I do think of average people, and I can't believe that anyone is that sheltered that they can't tell the difference between real life and a game. Like I said, both games look stunning but there are way to make lighting and material errors in both games to make them look like real life.

I have to agree. In my month with GT5p, at no time did I think it looked real, cars nor environment. Far from it actually. Though, the GT5 bullshots (and FM3) look real. I don't think they will every carry that into actual game play on this gen of systems.

Well, unlike the clutch, the starter button seems pretty useless.

GTR and Live for Speed both have working clutches and the engine will stall. As much as I hate to admit it, I have had to use the starter button more than once. Spinning out and forgetting to press the clutch or releasing at a bad time making the engine stall, that's happened to me on occasions, requiring a restart to get back into the race.

Its not a terribly important feature, but it all adds to the experience, plus it lets you know the game isn't baby-ing you by automatically clutching and rev matching for you, even after you supposedly selected manual clutch.

Once again, it looks fantastic....... Except for the head/tail lights. They just can't seem to get that right. Like someone said, they look like scale models more than real cars.

Furthermore, the cars still have this plastic look to them. Like they're all made by Rubbermaid or something.

;)

People must have different plastic where they live then where I live. These shots look awesome, and I don't see a plastic appearance.

Yes. Looking forward to seeing some final build 720p direct feed gameplay.

The le mans gamersyde videos and the 510 are quite disappointing but its work in progress.

A pic with better tail light colour. Hope T10 can adjust and also have an improved lighting system to add, looks static/poor out of the main light source. Also, Subaru rear wing end plates look odd.

When things go a bit pear-shaped, the impacts feel nice and solid. But strangely enough, when things are going smoothly, it can feel a bit too, well, smooth. It almost feels like you're driving some kind of magic carpet, hovering just above the track itself. A real feeling of movement and feedback is difficult for a game to accurately create, admittedly, but we couldn't help but feel slightly detached.

The le mans videos show this. I'm quite surprised they'd show this build with cars floating up the track. GT4 and GT5p seem to be quite accurate with track connection and independent movement, especially GT5p. I don't like that floaty feel and the game engine showing you're floating along. Doesn't really inspire me to drop my G25 for a Fanatec yet.

All the Forza 3 shots thus far look way too pale, if you want them to look better, just adjust your screen brightness and gamme down and contrast slightly up until everything else looks too dark, and the Forza 3 shots will look a lot nicer :P

It might be the settings they used (mostly che) when they took the shots in photomode, but still it shouldn't make the lights (tail lights and front indicators on the ST205 Celica for example) so transparent that you can clearly see the bulbs.

This is kinda what I mean, I just grabbed this picture from a few pages back and did nothing but adjust brightness down and contrast slightly up, to me it looks far better.

Yeah it is a good improvement no doubt, but you can still see the indicator globes too easy, other cars arn't like this so much the Celica GTFour seems to be the worst for that.

Oh wow, a moderator agreed with me on how the car's look like autoart 1/18 scale model cars. Highly detailed... but not photo realistic. we have all fallen ill with GT syndrome. Were GT5P's car models look so good. It feel's like no other game can look better. IE sucks the wow factor out of seeing how nice any other games cars look. Because GT5P has already shown how far a car model in the virtual world can go. No other game can truly show that. Were lighting is perfect to each color. were taillights and headlights look "real" and reflect real time. were you can't find one single inaccuracy on a car model. were every car look's so stunning and real to the point you could reach out and get inside, but the detail does not stop there. it just begins when you get in side. And when you can just sit back and stare for ever at the car's rotating in the showrooms. That is pretty much the power of GT.
