That doesn't make any sort of sense. Just because I set it to Automatic doesn't mean the AI in the Ford GT shouldn't be taking his hand off the wheel to shift. It should still do so.

It's a punishment for not using real transmission. ;)

I'll be disappointed if the cockpit view doesn't show a gear change animation. It just doesn't look right without it. Let's hope it's included in the final game.

I don't care about the lack of shifting animation. In fact, I hope we can remove the wheel and hands as an option entirely. I don't want to see the wheel and hands duplicated since I am already using my own wheel and hands.

I was hoping that the earlier assumption that FM3 is going to have basically the same version of Nordschleife as FM2 is unfounded but by the look of the recent PAX09 video, that's what's happening.

This right off the start coming down the hill:

The real, through Enzo

Forza 3- what happened to the trees!!!

NFS:SHIFT- as good as the GTR Evo's except for the silly ad banners and the amusement park activities (not seen here)

Other than the missing trees (as in the green in Green Hell), the track seems way too smooth and flat with no sideways inclination etc. Turn 10 could've done a much better job than this.

Unfortunately the green corner signs in the original pics were a giveaway. Still FK is back, and the new fantasy and real tracks look really promising.

I am just glad they narrowed some of the track. I don't mind a missing tree here and there. FM2 had sideways inclination and had a nice textured track. I suspect this to be improved in FM3. Can't wait to see the final build in October.

I'm just glad every racing game these days has cockpit/interior views. :D

Something I always wished would return after putting so much time into Road & Track presents: The Need For Speed (NFS1).

I've watched some FM3 Nurburgring footage and it looks same as FM2.

What struck me though is this corner is quite tight, twisty and drops down to the left hander in real life but FM3/2 seems to go uphill and banked the wrong way. There's very slight drop before but it quickly flattens out and goes upwards.

GT4 has a slight drop to it and is reminiscent of the real one although at stages throughout its bit flat.

You have to watch the videos if you can't remember which corner it is and also to see the flow of the corners.
Its very complex and you have to take it easy through there in real life and have to watch the curbs.

And I'm not trying to troll or whatever it is you say. This is a notorious early part of the Nurb.

What I'm surprised is, the opportunity for Microsoft and Turn10 to fund a laser scanned Nurburgring. I don't know the cost but this would be huge to say you have the Nurb scanned in FM3.

I don't expect to see it in FM2 as they did a good getting a HD game out but not to change the ring comprehensively for FM3? MS have the money to upstage any racing game. All they need is to do the nurb iracing style then upgrade with texture and scenery.

Quoted for truth. Still one of the best racing games ever.

Unfortunatly in-game advertizing is common these days, idm when its in context with the game genre (IE addidas in a football game or Nissan in a raceing game), not sure if i like the idea of this form of government intrusion into the game space.

you would'nt you see Australian Gov adds on say Laguna seca or the Ring irl.

No it hasn´t... The ring has been resurfaced which removed a lot of the bumps so the Evo version is more accurate :D

Will be interesting to see how close Blimey get with Shift though. Should have way better graphics even though as always Shift looks way uglier now then during E3... But it doesn´t take much to beat Evos visuals lol

Is there such release note from Turn10 about all features of FM3? Or we still have to wait for one?

TGS most likely. Che has said something along the lines of "Big things for Sept 24th" or something like that.

Am I the only one to get really really annoyed at the plate part of the car? I mean yeah sure it's a detail but it looks so off to race with a race that has no plate at all not to mention they could've just have had a blank one and just let you put the numbers you like. I know it's something pretty silly to whine about but I still find it looks weird without any :-/

No hands at all looks better imo.
You're crazy. It'd look so lame without hands at all.

I dunno, I liked not having the wheel or hands in TOCA but those were all racing cars. I think for games with production cars I like as much as possible without sacrificing too much of the view (TDU, GT5:P - not some cars in Race Pro which are near undrivable with my TV)

you mean, like GT4 :D I don't remember NFS1 on PS1 like a true sim...

the problem with virtual hands/wheel is when you are using a wheel and the on-screen one doesn't turn like yours
but I you use a gamepad, like I probably will, it will be great to see on-screen what your input actually does on the wheel :)

You don't put one on in the livery editor? That's what I've always done. I had a European and a blue Michigan plate template and I just changed around the letters and numbers.

His technique (that works) to hold a drift is "right, straight, right, straight, right, straight" while in that GT vid you posted (and feel free to post a LFS vid or something instead) the wheel stays countered throughout the drift and he is just trimming the angle to suit
now, that's not that revelant, because the movements he put on that wheel ARE totally unrealistic : with a 900° wheel you just can't turn the wheel that quickly. Now we're talking about LFS, this sim has a weird grip model which make the car too easy to drift, and I'm sure you can realize the same drifts in LFS that on that video

am I not talking english ? I'm trying to, though that's not my mother tongue ;)
Jay
He is a real drift driver who is attempting to drift on FM3 for the first time which isn't going well (can't hold it) Landin shows how it's done and it is nothing like this real driver is attempting
same story. Crappy config, crappy wheel, doesn't mean anything, I can't even see why they invited him anyway

I see words but it was hard to figure out what you exactly meant, I mean no insult by it.

Wheel is the best one available for xbox, expensive high quality wheel and it's 900 degrees too. Landin (the driver) works for turn 10. As for config, it would be configured for landin who is the turn 10 drift and video expert.
