My TX is on the truck for delivery today but the morning UPS delivery (work) only delivered the $2.99 game (whoopee!). Hopefully the afternoon truck with have my TX!

The base of this wheel has received VERY good reviews for the FFB (strength and precision), smoothness, and quietness. The pedals, and to a lesser extent the wheel, are a little bit of a let down but both can be upgraded. I tried to stay with a gamepad (sold my Fanatec CSR) but I can't be consistent and just get frustrated - I couldn't resist buying another wheel!

So what are your thoughts on the wheel? I've only had a chance to use it a few times as my wife went into labor the same day I got it haha!

There was a mix up in the delivery so I didn't get the wheel until Friday. I have had only a short time on pCARS, AC, LFS, and FM5 but it sure is nice to have the control of a wheel again as the gamepad was driving me nuts at times. All much easier to drive without aids than the gamepad with some aids. Only drove a couple cars in each but pCARS had the best feel to me, feedback that didn't seem canned. The others weren't not far behind but AC still had some effects around center that don't seem right.
One thing that surprised me was a couple of my FM5 gamepad leaderboard times were hard for me to beat with the wheel, I thought it would be easy as I feel much more in control. It may be that I have not adjusted yet but it goes to show that you can be fast (relative!) with a gamepad. The biggest difference is "consistency" as I can run 8 good laps out of 10, with a gamepad maybe 2 out of 10. Also, I wouldn't think of racing online with a gamepad, with my abilities, but much more confident I can compete without causing destruction.
This TX feels better than my CSR, much stronger to where I need to back it off quite a bit, and smoother with a little more detail. I miss the CSR Elite load cell pedals but there will be options for the TX in the not too distant future.
So far so good...

^^ I thought the TX already has good pedal and gate shifter upgrades?

Man, you wheel guys are lucky. I'd get me one too... unfortunately, budget wouldn't allow it at the moment, and plus I've got limited space in my room.

Oh well... still grateful to have FM4 by my side! :D

The upgrades still aren't on the market. Or at least the ones specifically being made for the TX. You can get the gated shifter already out on the market, but I don't believe there are any standalone pedals available yet. You'd have to buy the T500 RS set just to get those pedals.

I just ordered my Playseat Challenge rig. Entry level, but better than the rickety table I built
I would love to have a rig. Current situation and room says no way though. In my defense I do have a huge, very sturdy computer desk where my 3 consoles and 2 good size screens reside. My wheels don't even budge that beast.

Sorry for the double post. Just wanted to say it'll be a little while before I'm playing Forza 5. Got my Xbox yesterday and set it up last night only to find that my Xbox One is one of the freak ones to have the disc tray grinding problem. So talked to Microsoft and another console is on the way within a week or so.:(

Bummer, sorry to hear that. I've heard MS has been pretty good at getting them swapped out quickly. Who knows, they might even throw in a freebie for you!

According to a Reddit post, there's a 433mb update today that has added:
- Every downloaded DLC car can be purchased in-game for free one time only (obviously you need to own the DLC pack)
- They FINALLY added the garage icon to purchased cars
- April DLC

There's bound to be more!

Yeah this is a pretty big shift in the game mechanic. The tone of the state of the union address seemed ominous, it thought it was going to be a sign off from Turn 10 and it'd be the last game the studio made. Thank god it wasn't!

Wow, this is pretty sweet. The DLC early is a big surprise and getting a free copy of each DLC car is a very nice gesture. I wonder if this is T10's way of rewarding the fans for the marketing departments DLC policy? Cause I don't think the ones with the game in their hearts at T10 would be entirely happy with the policy.

Edited to add: The pack is the Top Gear pack and a Transit van has been added the same month a big addition is coming to the game. Got to be the 'Ring, surely?!

Love the Forzavista on the Transit and Hummer H1. Totally blown away by this DLC.

More like poor DLC sales so a different approach was needed. This feature has been wanted by alot of people on the official forums for a very long time.

This has nothing to do with the sales (less you have access to some numbers to back that up & should post them). They've been listening to community since December & still are. Just because you bitch & moan doesn't mean they drop everything to start working on a solution. These aren't instantaneous decisions that are flipped like a switch, they take some time.

People on the forums then cry for a month because they haven't gotten any word on their wishes, but they forget they don't announce these fixes until they're ready such as today.

So, I may end up joining the FM5 club much later than I hoped because I recently acquired this beauty. ;_;

This will seem very random but I have a small question. There is no specific section for questions for the Forza games and, to be honest, I don't think my question is worth cluttering the forum with a new topic.

So, to those who have already played FM5, I ask: can you change colors on the rental cars when you, well, rent them?

Thank you in advance and I apologize for the trivial post, especially if it's in the wrong area.

I know you can select the manufacturer colors, but I'm not sure if you have access to the specialty colors or custom liveries.

Edit: odd - I had a full response that didn't get posted.

I don't think you can, at least I haven't seen the option to. Soon as you pick your car, it goes back to the race menu unless there's a button to change it beforehand.

Thank you for the responses. However, we seem to have conflicting answers here. Could someone clarify, please? Thank you.

And yes, I do mean just manufacturer colors, not special liveries or paints, in Free-Play.

I was wrong. You cannot select a color.

Sorry for bumping this thread up, I couldn't find anywhere else to share my noob questions because I'm so curious on this title. In FM5's career mode, does it have like 2 to 3 laps at best? If so, I will truely love that! :D Since I'm not a fan of 5 laps or any races that last long, even in GT I didn't finish the career mode because there was too many 5 laps. Haha. :)

Yeah, only 2-3 laps. Personally I'm not a fan, but then again I don't mind it as much in races with cars I'm less interested in.

Forza has lots of race types to choose from. You can make custom races online.

You can also make custom races offline in Free Play mode and they earn you credits, XP and Affinity points in the same way as Career races do.

This is useful for filling in those gaps in your Drivatar profile for even more credits in the daily rewards.

I'm starting to do this more and more. If only the customization in multiplayer existed here too. It pains me to try and setup an IndyCar race, only to see other types of cars gain entry.
