Should it be "free to play" or buy to play

  • Buy to play(like how it is on consoles)

So you would build a gaming PC just for Forza? I'm fairly sure they are releasing it on PC to give PC gamers a chance to play the game, instead of forcing us to buy a console. If you had a gaming PC I promise you won't spend much time playing Forza as there are far better racing games on PC ;)

I have a high end gaming PC, I do all my racing in Forza. More interested in the more casual setting of Forza over Iracing and the sorts.

Yeah I'm just saying it wouldn't make much sense to build a PC just for Forza. If you're a Forza player you will already have a console so spending thousands of dollars just for some better graphics would be a bit of a waste. Apex will be perfect for us PC guys who want a casual game like this without needing to buy a console.

I've been playing games for 20 years and I've still never played Forza as I've always been a playstation owner so this will be my first experience.

I'm feeling this Forza 6 Apex but yeah I rate it should be buy to play.

I sense something fishy with that free to play move...

Plus this gives me more of a reason to buy a stronger PC now.

It's a tech demo to push people towards their Windows 10 store. That's not fishy, that's just sensible.

They'd have a hard time selling it with some of the drawbacks it has at the moment (like being tiny and having no wheel support), so they might as well give it away and reap some goodwill that they can cash in on when they start selling FH3 or FM7 on PC.

Semi related. I dont want the port to be as bad as Quantum Break's.

Not sure about the other games but probably worst case scenario.
That's because they likely wanted both to be released at the same time frame, getting things rushed. Forza has been out since last year, so they've had a lot of time to build it up in the mean time with not having as much pressure as something like Quantum Break. They don't have to finalize two products simultaneously, so its likely that it wont be the same. Hopefully, at least.

In 2015 they run the game on a titan black with i7 and 16gb ram and it was dropping frames here and there nothing crazy just drops down to 58fps once a minute. Maybe it was a quick demo but with that hardware it shouldn't and with QB PC release i'm a bit concerned.

Quantum Break is a mess right now, through no fault of UWP to some extent of course, but it's a mess all the same. There's a comment on the Xbox page (I think) where a user complained of the performance using a 980Ti, and the response was something to the effect of "You should be able to play the game on medium settings."

For a team that places consistent performance so far above everything else, sometimes for the worse, I have next to no worry in that regard.

Subscribing to the thread. I found out about the game today, and it is free (for a cheap ******* like me) so I will be giving Forza another chance.

Lol, open beta for Apex before we've even heard anything else about the GTS beta. I wish I could say I was surprised.

I'm looking forward to this. It will be fun to play with a controller while they iron out the bugs and add additional features like wheel support. And maybe spending some more time with a controller will get me my touch back so I'm not a total spaz in Rocket League. :P

I know it's an early version, but yeesh. The system specs to get the game to play essentially just like it does on the Xbone seem awfully high unless there are some more bells and whistles.

I suspect they're not really bothering to optimise a whole lot. It really strikes me as a proof of concept and a way of finding out how to deal with problems like the UWP wheel support more than it does making a lean, mean gaming...game. ;)

One would hope that they can do better with a game that is intended for a PC release from the beginning. Although there's always the Arkham Knight effect, so we'll never really be sure. :P

I think Gears of War Ultimate Edition is far worse than Arkham Knight in a few ways.
