Should it be "free to play" or buy to play

  • Buy to play(like how it is on consoles)

So no wheel support, no livery editor, no credit system and only 63 cars. I know it's a free beta demo, but I don't see the logic if I can just go to my living room and play F6 on my Xbox.

I have a feeling they will somehow find a way to make it compatible only with the G920. I don't know why, but I just feel it.

I might give it a try, only when wheel support is fully active and if they release car packs that will get it closer to FM6. Still, they better not charge for DLC for those who purchased FM6 and all its DLC.

Well this is an Open Beta, so they're most likely going to add more content. Doesn't hurt to try it out either.

Well I would bet that this is aimed at those who don't already have the Forza experience. It's likely just testing the waters to see how it's accepted, and from there things will likely change. I'm not sure how you expected a game that is miniscule in size to be able to pull you from its full fledged console experience. You're approaching this with the wrong mindset.

Exactly, it's not meant to be a complete game on release. It's basically Forza PC 'Prologue' and we already know they'll add additional features, with wheel support pretty much confirmed. I'm guessing there will be plenty of content updates too, but I don't think those will all be free.

But in essence, this is what GTHD and GT5P were on PS3.

Something relevant that I replied to in the news post and thought I'd post here as well:

If anyone doesn't have an Xbox controller to use with their PC and is worried that this might be a problem, then as long as you have a Playstation controller (and if you're here you probably do) you should be fine*.

Google ScpToolkit. It's a program to make your computer treat your DS3 or DS4 as an Xbox controller. You'll find a bunch of reddit posts, emulator forum posts and github references that should get you all the information you need. It was plug and play for me, but it's possible depending on your config that you may need to tinker a little. I've been using it to play games with a DS3 for some time and it works great.

The other option is MotionInJoy, which also works fine, but I found to be a little more temperamental for me. I haven't used it in about a year, as I kept needing to reload it to get the drivers to work. YMMV.

*Or if you just like Playstation controllers better. :)

Seconding ScpToolkit, it works flawlessly with my DS3. 👍
The only problem I have with it is that it shows the Xbox buttons instead of the PS buttons but other than that, it works very well.

You sir, are my MVP of the day, thank you!

Is this adequate for Forza Apex? Just asking for my PC.

Judging by the system requirements you will definitely have to tone things down a bit, maybe even a lot. However, hardware specs are not your biggest problem because DXDIAG shows DirectX 11.2 not 12. You must have 12 for it to work.

Really looking forward to seeing how this pans out. I do hope that they add in the wheel support soon and think about adding more features going forward. I certainly don't expect it for Apex but it would be super cool to be able to use my VR headset with FM7 for example.

generally from what ive seen in the past most games seem to come out between 3:00-7:00pm GMT on pc, not sure why its some sort of trend.
