I guarantee the reason we don't have unique tires is because we have the ability to increase both width and diameter. Forza's tires are designed in a way that are easily scalable in a visual sense. PCARS wheel/tire diameters are locked.

Not to mention there's an Auto Union in the game, which was built by Nazis...or a Beetle, which was the pet project of Der Führer himself.
Or the Wankel Rotary engine which was built by Felix Wankel, who was part of various radical right wing organisations in the 1920's and was admitted into the SS in 1940.

A user on fm.net may have come up with the answer to the Chevy SS censorship situation:

So by that logic we should ban Mercedes Benz, because that crazy dictator owned a couple of these.:dopey:

Where are the tyre sponsors? I don't recall seeing raised letter tyres on any of the cars.

That is weird.

Well, if it is licencing, seems odd for them seeing as how they got Porsche, Indy Cars, V8s. All those sponsors that could be on one of the biggest games to reach new console players.

If it has to do with mapping for the tyre sidewall height. I don't understand how they can resize the decals for tyre manufacturers on the body but, not the tyres.

It's easy to do but im almost certain its gotta do with why you cant choose different tire manufacturers in that game anymore, its just generic texture tire, and then the slick variant.

Also skinning both a tire and a car are pretty simple but it would mean you'd have to lock down the wheel size for the cars and then everyone would be mad about them limiting customization.

Personally I would much rather have the option to adjust wheel offset, or choose wheels with different offsets.
It just doesn't look right if you have really wide tires on a car and the wheels aren't aligned with the fenders.

I just checked Forza Horizon 2 and all the badges are there, so wonder why all of a sudden, they are gone in the copy in that video. That could just be an early review copy and Xbox was at Gamescom in Germany, so maybe that's it. SS has been used for 50+ years, would be so dumb to censor something that has nothing to do with the other.

Update: Damn seems I'm wrong, they were removed, just watched a live stream and asked the guy to check. http://www.twitch.tv/srt_indy

OMG - does this mean they're going to have to stop manufacturing Porsche 911 cars now in case someone gets reminded of the Twin Towers?!

They didn't have to do anything, they did it by choice because reminding people of genocide is probably one of those things they tell you to avoid in marketing. The 911 argument is pretty much missing the point entirely, given it's a date, not the abbreviation for anything, like the SS. And it's not changing the name, it's simply removing the abbreviation of that name.

Besides, I think it's more fun to say Super Sport than SS, anyway. Especially since most people seem to think SS is just an arbitrary name GM gives to their performance models.

That also sounds like it's missing the point since my joke was about people being over sensitive, not the difference between dates and abbreviations.

Presumably people will choose to refer to old sailing vessels as "Steam Ship" this or that, in case the "S.S." prefix reminds them of genocide.

"Changes to the Super Sport models In Forza 6 were made in association with Chevrolet in order to align with the brand's global naming strategies."

Avoiding any sort of bad PR in Israel > 55 years of unrelated iconic heritage

So it was because of that. okay, but why didn't Turn 10 replace the "SS" badge rather just leave the cars with no badge? I mean, couldn't they give them the bowtie badges? I would be fine with that.
