I loved the Horizon Edition cars from FH3, but this reveal was completely lackluster.

If you're going to focus on FE cars then atleast show some new ones (not ones straight from FH3) showcasing maybe a new bodykit/rim style. Instead we get the exact same FE from FH3. Ugh

Next week is going to be very interesting.

I may be crazy but I would by happy if they just had all the FM4 cars as "standard cars". lol Just imagine the car list if they did that. Maybe even FM2 as standard cars and FM4 as semi-premium. We would have a choice of so many mid 2000s cars. You can laugh at me but it would be dream coming true to me because I always wanted to play X360 era Forza games and never could.
If the Forza 4 cars are standard cars, then some Forza fans would complain about how the models look outdated.

To be honest, if T10 really has a five-year plan, like Comrade Greenwalt has told us... Then they'll run out of cars at some point. They could easily fit a lot of interesting cars in the 42 of the season pass, and they'd still have two or three car packs and possibly two EPs to go. And then FH4 will come along, adding at least another 42 road cars. Unless they really start to add Prii and Camries just to pad the car list, they'll eventually have all sorts of contemporary and vintage sports and racecars that they could feasibly included in the game. What then?
Uh, how close do you actually think they are to covering everything exactly?
I'm asking, because it sounds to me like you think they'll run out of ideas for cars soon.

Oh, I think everybody prefers the idea of new cars as DLC. FM6's DLC was pretty fantastic IMO.

But there needs to be balance — and it needs to be considered that not everybody is going to stump up the cash for post-release content. There's almost nothing new in terms of cars/tracks so far over FM6. I get that there's undoubtedly a lot of work put into the dynamic stuff, bringing back the 360-era content, and other things... but cars/tracks are the visible big sellers for games.

Don't get me wrong, for those that will be calling FM7 their first Forza game, the content looks great. But after the debacle that was GT6, and it's questionable status as a true sequel to GT5, this is more than a little worrying. Especially since it's Gamescom — it's actually been quiet across all three of the big titles this week, which is shocking.
To be fair, FM6 has a car count of around 460-470.
So we're talking 250 extra cars.

No, if you bought all the DLC, you total 616 cars (I believe) leaving roughly 104 "new" cars.
But then, I think fairly, you would have to count all FM7's dlc.

Granted if 30-40 are "FE" versions, that's somewhat of a duplicate. They do have nifty traits, particularly cash bonus cars, but even still, removing them leaves about 60 "new" (mostly returning) cars.

For everyone that's on PC, and PS3-Xbox1 traitors like myself, all those oldies are brand spanking new.
For FM vets, it's (presumably) newly remodeled classics that disappeared and were requested back.

The downside if for any new cars it's a dlc nightmare.

That's a bit disheartening. While I'm all for the idea of purely new cars as DLC, I was still hoping for at least something in the base game.

Even though they've stated 700+, I doubt it will be significantly over that count. Much like the "Hundreds" from Forza 5 literally just turning out to be 200, from the 30+ tracks labeled for FM7 which turned out to just be 32(?)

Well in fairness, it was an aspect of Forza that people would use to bring up a fault against PD. It makes sense that it's getting the same treatment now even if it is at a significantly lower degree.
Yes, however 30, only covers Mazda's. Horizon or Forza cars, at least cone pre-tuned, and with an in-game bonus.

In GT, "tuned" cars of some kind were always counted as another model as well. (Without duplicate complaints)

I was thinking, if T10 pulled a PD, and used copy-paste work to model every year of all their cars...(like a 92 nsx, 93 nsx, 94 nsx, 95 nsx, etc)
Car count could hit 3-4k

please god no.
No more premiums and standards and super premiums or mega ultra premium quality.

Fully agree just like the fast n furious edition cars...THEY DON'T BELONG IN FORZA MOTORSPORT but yet T10 decides to use them as fillers smh. Whyyy are they taking this route? The car list is mainly underwhelming if you ask me.
At least the F&F cars were visually unique . . .

Everything they can feasibly license, scan and it'd make sense to add to the game? I'd give them another three, four games games tops. And they've already stated that they have longer-term plans. Of course, more new cars would come out in the meantime... But I don't think there are 42 new cars per year that would be interesting additions to Forza's car roster.

Does anybody know what the actual new car count, and returning car count is? Possible to keep track of that in the OP? Many thanks!

Okay then, thanks for the clarification. Now, I can safely say that I completely disagree with you. Honestly, I can think of loads of interesting cars that Turn 10 hasn't brought to the series once. Really, with the 42 new cars per year count you mention; I can think of Turn 10 going through at least 5-6 more games before having trouble.

Agreed, I have a wishlist that members added to in the past with 750+ cars that could be included, as well as the remaining 350+ cars that were in past Horizon/Motorsport games that T10 has decided to not include.

Oh, don't get me wrong, so do I. But I don't see many of these cars ever coming to the game. I personally would love to see one of Jean Rondeau's odd-looking Le Mans racers in Forza, but how would they go about licensing them? Ultimately, one has to keep in mind that there's a process behind the addition of a car to Forza's roster, which is limiting their ability to add more exoteric choices more than anything else.

And regardless, at one point they'll essentially have to release a car pack made of oddbals and oscure racecars of yore. How well do you think the average Forza player would receive that? I think concerns about the possibility of the series growing completely stale later down the line may play a role in T10's decision to include less new content today.

Although I guess we won't get a clearer picture until the end of FM7's DLC season, I guess.

That's the thing, I'm not even thinking of oddball cars when I said that. I'm referring to actual cars within manufactures that Turn 10 has licenses to now. There's plenty of cars from mainstream manufactures that have not yet been recognized in racing games and I can imagine some people in the fanbase wanting to see in a Forza title.

While you have a point about those oddball cars not being the best received by the average player playing this, I don't think they'll get to that point soon due to how many cars from more mainstream stuff is still to be added.

While true, the amount of cars, and extent of the dupes, is not even close to what GT has done but it has been steadily increasing with each new game that comes out. Its not entirely an issue to me yet, but if the rate continues I can imagine, and understand, the backlash for it.

Duplicates in this game extend to some race cars as well, like the Indy Cars for example.

Nothing against Forza edition cars. I will buy the standard edition like all my other games (enough cars). What I would like to see is "car mode" make by Turn 10. The Ford GT Forza Edition looks like a lazy move. I know the customisation is far more in depth than in GT, so you can make your own version of a race version.

(in German, skip to the race in Nurburgring GP with the Nissan GT-R R35 GT500 Super GT race car)

Without the nonsense Forza Edition cars we are currently at 567 cars, with two Modern GT Racing division cars previously not seen in E3 or any of the garage reveals. The two cars are:

Ferrari #62 Risi Competizione 458 Italia GT2 '11 (the 2011 car is the one with the green number stickers)

Mercedes Benz #35 Black Falcon SLS AMG GT3 '11

So far two Modern GT Racing division cars such as the McLaren #98 ART Grand Prix 12C GT3 '14 and the Porsche #26 Porsche AG 911 GT1-98 '98 are still missing, yet to be seen.

This therefore brings us to 66 race cars, with the remainder being 133 cars or more to reach the 700-car mark, so therefore we could potentially see over 200 race cars, so let's see next week on the 29th. Hopefully this will perfectly coincide with the fact that there's a month left before people who pre-ordered Ultimate Edition (like me and some others here) can play the game. There's also still the Day One Car Pack left to be revealed...

I think your math might be a little off. I doubt the day 1 car list will be over 750 let alone about 766 cars...i heard somewhere that there will be 720 cars on release.

Around 20:15 mark you can see the C6.R Corvette I believe. I don't think it was in Forza 6. It's cool to have.

V8Supercars are now confirmed, you can see the Logo 'Domination Championship' flag. NASCAR and Indycar logos also on the flags left and and right of the Domination flag, although the had already been confirmed.

Seems nice and 'official' having the logos in the game as well, instead of just having the cars and no other official branding. Tiny point to some but it just makes it seem more properly to me personally.

I don't think it's fair at all to count racecars with different liveries duplicates.
If I'm a fan of driver x, driver y's car will simply not do.

That's a bit of a moot point in a game featuring a livery editor, tho.

(Of course, the presence of a livery editor is in itself rendered moot by how glitched some cars are... )

Are eaglye-eyed viewers spying something else? Career so far seems interesting. Now, to wait for the last car reveal...

Some people like to have their favourite race cars in the game in true official form.
