When the Toyota Baja Truck comes to FM7 before FH3....

I quite like this list, but that doesn't change the fact that there's like 99% recycled content.

And what the actual hell with this? They're keeping the older Formula E, Touring cars, etc? Is that how they're inflating the car list? I like that they have the updated models for this year, but why bother with the old ones?

Let's wait for the FM.net page but a list for those that want it:

I hope that they add the metrical system, I m not used to mph lbs etc..

Anyway I m really happy for this week reveal, can t wait till the 29th

I don't buy any DLCs in Forza (except the Porsche expansion in Forza 6) because the next Forza will include all the previous DLCs. For the first time, I'm wrong but I still won't buy DLCs.

Not all that thrilled with the list, No 720S, No 675LT, Huracan Performante, ZL1 1LE, Demon, etc...Just a bunch of rehashed stuff from previous Forza titles. Why is the XTS Limo here but i cant get a Current gen 911 Carerra 4? This will be the first FM/FH game i'll skip since FM1.

Because the XTS Limo is a great car. Wish more oddball cars were in this series.

I like SOME oddballs to an extent. Micro and econo cars? Yes bring those because they can be pitted against each other and makes more sense then a freakin limo, vans and things like a VW bus and Cadillac escalade.

All the off-road toys would be awesome if there were off-road tracks to drive them on.

Also, I know that there are licensing issues with Toyota, but no TS020/30/40, rally or touring cars? There are only really 3 Toyota vehicles, and the Camry NASCARs all have liveries from the same team/driver. I'm sorry, but unless there's more new cars at launch (which would also be pretty stupid), this is terrible.

I don't mean to sound like a dick, but the one car I've been waiting since Fm4 to come back, is finally back. The Car, that each Friday when they announced the clues during FM6, I tried to make the clues somehow fit, in hopes that it would of came to FM6. It never did. But now it's back, and I could really care less about the rest of the list. I figured we wouldn't see much new until DLC anyways.

I'm happy with the list, it's pretty stocked, even if most have been in Forza games already. There will be some Jaw Droppers in the Car packs. 👍

I love the oddballs as well.

Oddballs are nice to have if the core expectations are already fulfilled. I don't mind a racing truck, stadium trucks, offroad buggies, a limousine and all that as some complementary fluff once the very basics of a racing game are covered. I think you can safely say that those very basics of a racing game nowadays are GT3 & GTE and this sure seems to be an area where FM7 falls short, especially if you see how near-perfect that aspect is over at Project CARS 2 (https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/project-cars-2-car-list.353681/).

Turn 10 also announced a little while ago with a lot of fanfare their 5 year partnership with Porsche. Well the result of that seems to be that the only GT race car from Porsche to be in FM7 at launch is the FM6/FH3 copy/paste 2011 Porsche #45 Flying Lizard 911 GT3-RSR. What...a...total...joke. Meanwhile over at Project CARS 2 the 2016 Porsche 911 GT3 R and 2016 Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR will be in the game to race in the GT3 and GT4 series (with a TON of modern racing liveries for each one).
As a result of Turn 10's news flash I would have certainly expected the 2017 Porsche 911 RSR (GTE) to be in FM7 as well but I'm sure the $$$-milking will really start with the DLC when the expected cars will show up. Mark my words!

One thing is for sure though, if you are interested in Porsche race cars and the fun road cars there is no game that even comes remotely close to the content of the 3 Porsche DLC packs for Assetto Corsa. Yes I know Turn 10 is bragging with the "biggest list of Porsche etc etc", fact is that the most fun list of Porsche is in AC.

I think the basics are covered fairly well. They have a little bit of everything and didn't focus too much on one area. That you want more race cars is a personal expectation, just like mine is that I would prefer more road cars with customization. I think they can focus on some more sedans, especially from Japan. However, that's a personal wish as well. For the most part, they have covered a fairly good amount of ground. Oddballs are also an expectation for me, and the every day grocery-getters as well.

That just goes to show how different everyone thinks, and how they come to get to a list that we see before us.

Sure, again, if your focus is purely race cars, and race cars only, than you'd be ignoring a good chunk of the list from the get go. While the list may not be entirely new, I'm fairly happy that they are at least in the base game this time around. I skipped them in Horizon, and likewise in FM6, so my patience has payed off it seems. These are new to me this gen, but I haven't looked into what ones actually are new from FM6 forward.

Yeah if you want to drive Porsches alone, or hotlap them (also alone) AC is where it's at.

Speaking of oddball cars though, I am really confused why we have all these off-road specialty vehicles for road racing.

ImaRobot don't get me wrong, I like road cars as well and FM7 sure delivers in that aspect. But with Horizon already being the "road car" focus of the Forza franchise you would expect that in Motorsport there would be a bigger focus on race cars. Barely seeing anything new in the GT race car department sure is a disappointment.

The more I think about it, the more I feel that FM7 and Project CARS 2 go very well together this fall.

FM7 has the currency model / unlocking content / pretty graphics / mod cards / drivatar costumes / road cars / oddball cars / auction house / upgrading cars / painting cars / best used in chase cam with a controller / .... (all pretty lighthearted).

Project CARS 2 is more serious / sim / proper car classes / better modern GT race cars / rallycross / ice circuits / historical tracks / VR / UDP / practice & qualifying / formation-cooldown laps / animated pit crews / 100% true dynamic weather and ToD / ....

Those 2 games complement each other really well.

Then we have GT:Sport as well. Not sure what that possibly brings to the table other than the photomode scapes but if I want pretty pictures of cars I will just Google for them.

Might as well pronounce this game as "Fortza" rather than Forza, because this race car list looks quite disappointing and somehow lazy, with only four IndyCars, nine NASCAR vehicles, one Super GT car and a lack some of the newer and older, more respectable cars (only V8 Supercars, NASCAR, IndyCar, Formula E and others) and some missing cars as well.

Looks like the DLC will have to fill in this broken gap, because as a loyal fan of Forza, this race car list seriously offends me on how lazy and dull it is. We were teased a race car reveal a few months ago and we get this? What a shame, seriously, but I couldn't care less since I'm still holding onto it.

So far there's 669 cars revealed, and 31 or more remain on the list, let's hope it's some other cars, not these pesky Forza Edition cars.

To be honest, I much prefer if Motorsport was the road car focus. Horizon is fun for me, but it always dies out so fast. The game in general is a bit uninspiring, and I don't get the urge to keep playing. You're aspect of motorsports is the higher echelon of the sport, but can't it contain things like time attacks, autocross, and the like? Area's where you'd see more everyday cars. That's what I prefer to associate it to as I don't have much an interest in the same forms that you seem to appreciate.

Um, as far as I know, that's actually how it is pronounced.

I'm going to be optimistic and say they're maybe for an upcoming rally expansion.

Hmm you got a serious point there. Maybe that could also be the reason why FM7 @E3 was so underwhelming, maybe rally was supposed to be part of FM7 but it was secretly "delayed" to expansion DLC for whatever reason. That would also explain why the track list is so thin with only 4 new racing locations, all the rally locations are delayed as well.

When they started adding so many stadium trucks and rally cars to FH3 I could have sworn offroad was going to be in FM7. Now we have the cars but not the circuits.

That makes me think about the buggies as well, if you would be a Turn 10 game designer, would you move that handful of offroad buggies from FH3 to FM7 if there would not be any future rally DLC planned? ;) Actually after FH2 they could have copied the offroad trucks from FH2 to FM6 as well but they didn't.

The more I think about it, the more I believe a rally expansion might very well be the case as it makes so much sense :
- underwhelming E3 (hinting rally could have been the plan but delayed)
- only 4 new tracks of which 3 are recycled (could hint that rally circuits were delayed)
- too much offroad buggies / stadium trucks / rally cars copied from FH3 to FM7 (could hint rally will come in the future)

for the record: rally or offroad or whatever it will be. I don't think it will be rally stages, probably more something like dirt tracks.

You do know that is the proper way to pronounce it anyway, right?

Horizon isn't the road car aspect of the franchise — it's the open-world, arcade-oriented one. Forza Motorsport was created as Microsoft's answer to GT. People get so hung up on the name — the same way people take "the real driving simulator" seriously.

I can't be alone in not really caring that the modern GT cars aren't all up to date. They all drive practically the same, and I find them pretty boring in the other two games coming this fall too. They're great if you're looking for close competitive racing, but outside of that, I think I've had my fill of GT3 grids at Brands Hatch.

What bothers me more is the lack of new-to-franchise metal. After FM6 introduced Group 5 to the franchise, I really hoped that'd be fleshed out here. Nothing.

All good points! 👍

The high number of offroad vehicles would suggest FM7 was supposed to feature dirt tracks at release, but probably got delayed most likely due to some issues that arose in the testing phase. I really hope a rally expansion is released for this game, would definitely make FM7 stand out more from its predecessor.

I realise licensing is a minefield but it's certainly annoying that the two/three/four season-old race cars, which haven't changed at all mechanically, are still stuck with outdated liveries. Why is the Ciceley Mercedes the only 2017 BTCC car? The 1-Series is even an officially-official factory-backed team now, and we know that that makes licensing simpler. Not to mention the GTs and the Beetle.

They got to save something good to convince us to buy the DLC.

Joking aside I would like more TCC cars, been really enjoying them in FM6 lately.

Also DTM pls. Though the road versions of modern DTM cars are in the game, So I might try hosting DYI DTM races with those.
